Itinerary Board your overnight flight Day 1 – 19 October (Wed) – Arrive Rome, Italy Welcome to Rome! A group transfer will pick you up from the airport and take you on an orientation drive through some of the more exclusive streets of the “Eternal City.” Marvel at the impres- sive piazzas, fountains, ancient buildings in all their majesty, and much more. Stop at Piazza Navona, a lively market and one of the most renowned squares in the world with its “Fountains of Four Rivers”, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, enjoy free time to explore and grab some lunch. Check-in to your hotel (normal check-in times apply). Enjoy a welcome dinner with wine at a popular local restaurant. Later enter Piazza di Spagna and admire the magnificence of the Spanish Steps rising up towards the Church of Trinita dei Monti. Then visit the famous Trevi Fountain, where a traditional legend holds that anyone throwing a coin into the fountain will ensure a return to Rome! (Dinner) Day 2 – 20 October (Thu) – Rome Enjoy Globus’ unique guided sightseeing, including inside visits to all highlights of religious and ancient Rome: the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL with Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judg- ment, and monumental ST. PETER’S SQUARE and BASILICA to admire Michelangelo’s Pietà. Enjoy LUNCH at a local Trattoria. Continue to the magnificent COLOSSEUM, which brings the days of the gladiators alive. Also admire the Arch of Constantine, and enter the ROMAN FORUM, where Roman legions marched in triumph. (Breakfast, Lunch) Day 3 – 21 October (Fri) – Rome With its narrow cobblestone streets and laneways, Trastevere is the quintessential Roman neighborhood. While by night it is a happening destination for tourists and locals, during the day, Trastevere is like a small village with its timeless and artisan shops serving the same local families for generations. On this GUIDED WALKING FOOD TOUR* we eat our way through the neighborhood enjoying 10 delicious food tastings. Visit the local, colorful outdoor food market and meet the wonderful families working hard to preserve Roman food traditions. In addition enjoy some unique cultural and historical sites that few tourists get an opportunity to see. The remainder of the day is at your leisure for exploring or shopping in this ancient city; your Tour Director will be on hand for suggestions. (Breakfast) *The walking food tour is not suitable for people intolerant to gluten and/or dairy. Day 4 – 22 October (Sat) – Rome – Pisa – Lucca Follow the Aurelian Way along the Tyrrhenian coast and enter Tuscany. In Pisa visit the SQUARE OF MIRACLES and take the traditional picture pushing back the amazing Leaning Tower. In Lucca, enjoy a walk through this quaint medieval town with its 16th-century ramparts (walls) sur- rounding the Old Town, it features some of Italy’s finest medieval and Renaissance architecture, then spend time in its pretty center. This evening enjoy DINNER at a local AGRITURISMO and try out Tuscan specialties. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 5 – 23 October (Sun) – Lucca. Excursion to Cinque Terre A scenic day! Drive to La Spezia on the Mediterranean Coast for your excursion (including a BOAT RIDE, weather permitting) to CINQUE TERRE, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name dates back to the 15th century and is derived from five medieval little villages standing on stony spurs along five miles of the rocky coastline: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. Enjoy LUNCH at a local restaurant. Then enjoy free time to explore these quaint villages on your own with your train pass. Later this evening a transfer back to your hotel in Lucca. Day 6 – 24 October (Mon) – Lucca – Florence After breakfast continue to Florence, “Cradle of the Renaissance,” and follow your Local Guide on a walking tour. Visit the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS to admire Michelangelo’s celebrated David. Marvel at the magnificent marble cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry’s heavy bronze “Gate of Paradise,” and sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE. Afterwards, time to shop for leather goods and gold jewelry which Florence is famous for. This evening learn the history of pizza, the art of making the dough, how to choose the best toppings, then make your pizza just like an Italian pizzaiolo! Dinner tonight is your masterpiece as the main course! (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 7 – 25 October (Tue) – Florence. Excursion to San Gimignano and GreveJourney through the celebrated Tuscan countryside to discover the charming village of San Gimignano, known for its famous towers, white Vernaccia wine, saffron, and olive oil. Legend has it that in the 12th cen-tury, rival families of San Gimignano began a tower-building competition to display their power and wealth-and 72 towers were built. Today, the 14 towers that remain have earned the town its modern designation as “Medieval Manhattan.” Next, into the very heart of the Chianti vineyards; watch out for names such as Castellina in Chianti, Badia, Gaiole, and Brolio, where classical Chianti wines are produced. Stop in Greve for some WINE TASTING at the Vicchiomaggio wine estate. This evening relax and enjoy a Tuscan evening of delicious food and wine. You will be served a traditional 4-course dinner accompanied by Tuscany’s famous wines – a different wine will be tasted with each course. An experienced som-melier will be on hand to give an interesting introduction to each wine and answer any questions you might have. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 8 – 26 October (Wed) – Florence – Verona – Venice IslandA special visit to Verona, medieval setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Take pictures of Juliet’s balcony and rub the shining breast on her statue for good luck. Next, admire the Arena, an incredibly well-preserved pink marble Roman amphitheater, where gladiators used to fight. Built in the 1st century AD, it is now the magical venue for world-famous opera performances. Enjoy a tortellini LUNCH at Rubiani restaurant on lively Piazza Bra. Arrive in Venice, a powerful magnet for romantics and art lovers from around the globe. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 9 – 27 October (Thu) – Venice IslandDuring your walking tour with a Local Guide, visit ST. MARK’S SQUARE and the byzantine Basilica, lavish DOGES’ PALACE and the BRIDGE OF SIGHS. Also watch a skilled GLASSBLOWER fashion delicate objects in

an age-old traditional manner. Enjoy some free time this afternoon. A highlight this evening is a GONDOLA SERENADE, the traditional way to explore the canals. Then enjoy DINNER at a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 10 – 28 October (Fri) – Venice IslandEnjoy a full day at leisure to explore this exciting island, you may wish to join an optional excursion to the picturesque island of Burano; your Tour Director will be on hand for suggestions. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 11 – 29 October (Sat) – Venice IslandAfter breakfast a group transfer will take you to the airport for your homebound flight. (Breakfast)
