Dave McClure has been geeking out in Silicon Valley for almost twenty years as a software developer, entrepreneur, startup advisor, angel investor, blogger, & internet marketing nerd. Dave currently runs a seed-stage investment program for Founders Fund. His passion is helping startups with marketing, product strategy, and startup metrics, and he is an advisor or investor for several companies including: Canopy Financial, Eventvue, KissMetrics, Mashery, Mint, RichRelevance, 750 Industries, Simply Hired, SlideShare, TeachStreet, Twilio.

Dave is the founder of Startup2Startup, a monthly dinner series for Silicon Valley startup entrepreneurs & investors. He has been a conference organizer for many tech & startup events including STARTonomics, Graphing Social Patterns, and Web 2.0 Expo (SF). He has been a guest lecturer on social network platforms & applications at Stanford University. Dave is a board member for microfinance accelerator Unitus, advisor to microfinance lender Kiva.org, and co-founder of the Silicon Valley Microfinance Network.

Tokyo 2.0 is a not-for-profit community event run by a steering committee of volunteers. Since 2007, they have been organising various events & talks with the aim of giving Japan's web community a platform to meet. This makes them Tokyo's Permier Bilingual Web Community.

Tokyo 2.0 25th EditionGeeks on a Plane Tour will join in for Tokyo 2.0 25th event hosted at Super Deluxe in Downtown Tokyo. We'll be looking at interesting technologies at the intersection of web & language, such as natural language processing. We're gonna have a presentation on Mozilla's Ubiquity, with many more to be announced soon, so watch out for that!

BarCamp Shanghai (started by Raincity Studios and Bryght in 2006) is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

Geeks on a Plane attendees will get an in depth glimpse of Shanghaiʼs startup community and participate in discussions and exchange of new ideas. Chinameme will be hosting the first TEDxShanghai event in Shanghai, China on Monday, June 15, 2009. TED is an annual event that brings together the worldʼs leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that that matter in any discipline.“TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. The talks at the conference “TEDTalks” are then made free at TED.com.

TEDxShanghai is scheduled to coincide with the Geeks On A Plane Tour and the Shanghai International Film Festival

Geeks & Glamour is an after party that will be held in Shanghai on June 15th. Hosted by M1NT, it will bring together Chinese and international attendees of Geeks On A Plane, TEDxShanghai and the Shanghai International Film Festival.
