GRAND FINAL
I-CHALLENGE 2018’s INTERNTIONAL EXHIBITION CONTEST is
an international exhibiton competition of scientific products and technologies
which is a part of I-CHALLENGE (Indonesia Chemical Engineering Event)
2018. For the fifth time, the competition will be held by Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik
Kimia –Universitas Brawijaya (HMTK-UB), Indonesia. This year, the chosen theme
for its exhibition is Applicable Innovation to Actualize Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG). The goal of this international exhibition is to show
the product innovation that has been made by the finalists to the public and
hopefully soon can be applied in society. In this international exhibition, each
team will present their product in front of the judges and visitors.

ARRIVAL
Transportation Options for Arrival in Malang
1. Train
For those of you who come to Malang by train should ensure that you will arrive at “Malang
Kotabaru” station. Malang Kotabaru Station is located in Jalan Trunojoyo No. 10, Klojen,
Kiduldalem, Malang, East Java 65111, about 300 meters ahead from Malang Monument
in the City Plaza.
Malang Kotabaru station is the biggest railway station in Malang, and is a departure from the
main railway in Malang. All train destination from all regions will end in the Malang
Kotabaru station. Estimated time of arrival from Malang Kotabaru Station to Brawijaya
University is approximately 16 minutes.
You have to arrive in Malang before March 16th, 2018 between 2.00 pm – 3.00 pm (GMT
+7). Our committee will provide all the accommodation including pick up service at the
airport and station. Please make sure you have confirmed your arrival details to I-
CHALLENGE 2018 Committee.

2. Private Transportation
For those of you who come to Malang by private transportation should ensure that you will
arrive at Hotel Wisata Tidar. Hotel Wisata Tidar is located in Jalan Puncak Tidar Blok VE-1,
Malang, Dau, Malang, East Java, Indonesia, 65151.
You can contact the RSVP Hotel through phone number at (0341) 553576 if you have any
problems. For more information you can also contact your Liaison Officer (LO). You have to
arrive in Malang before March 16th, 2018 between 2.00 pm – 3.00 pm (GMT +7).
Transportation Options for Arrival in Surabaya
1. Plane
For those of you who take flight to Surabaya should ensure that you will arrive at Juanda
International Airport, Surabaya. Juanda International Airport (Indonesian: Bandara Udara
Internasional Juanda) is an international airport located in Sidoarjo, a small town near
Surabaya, East Java. It is located approximately 20 km from City of Surabaya. If there is no
direct flight to Juanda International Airport from your country, you may transit first at
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Jakarta or Ngurah Rai International
Airport, Denpasar, Bali. Then you should take domestic flight from Jakarta or Bali to
Surabaya.
There are two airport terminals in Juanda International Airport, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The
terminals are located near to each other but they have different location for the entrance. If you take
international flight to Surabaya, you will land at Terminal 2, but if you take domestic flight to
Surabaya, you will probably land at Terminal 1. For those of you who take flight with Garuda
Indonesia or Air Asia, you will land at Terminal 2, wether you take domestic or international flight
to Surabaya.
You have to arrive in Surabaya before March 16th, 2018 between 11.00 am – 12.00 pm (GMT +7).
Estimated time of arrival from Juanda International Airport to Brawijaya University is approximately
2 hours 55 minutes. Our committee will provide all the accommodation including pick up service at
the airport. Please make sure you have confirmed your arrival details to I-CHALLENGE 2018
Committee.

During this competition, you will be staying at Hotel Wisata Tidar which is located in:

We will provide your accommodation for 3 days straight, starting from your arrival In Malang on
March 16th, 2018 until March 18th, 2018.
Please note that:
1. The participants will stay in a room that is a non – smoking room. Participants will be
fined if caught smoking in the room by the Hotel’s regulations.
2. If participants wish to stay a little longer, the accommodation cost will be on
participants’ responsibility.
TECHNICAL MEETING
Technical meeting of I-CHALLENGE 2018 will be held on :

Each team’s member must give identity’s card, passport photos 3 x 4 (colored), prove of
payment, declaration letter, and validation sheet to the comittee.
Discussion about FAQ regarding to Grand Final Exhibition
Our comittee will give explanation about I-CHALLENGE 2018’s events, including
International Exhibition and Gala Dinner. Each team can ask questions about International
Exhibition and the following events.
Determination of Stand Number
Each team will be drawing the stand number. Stand number is used to determine the location
of stand’s position in International Exhibition.

1. All team’s member must attend the Technical Meeting

2. All team’s member must wear alma mater jacket during Technical Meeting

PRESENTATION
Presentation Duration : 15 minutes (including Questions and Answers)
Content of Presentation :
- Description of the product (such as: material of the product, how to make the product, etc.)
- The working principle of the product
- The advantages of the product (such as : cheaper, easy to operate, etc.)
- Application of the product (such as : how effective the product is to solve the problem, the
benefits to the society when using the product, etc.)
REGULATION
1. All team’s member must attend the International Exhibition
2. All team’s member must wear alma mater jacket during International Exhibition
3. Each team must bring their product and all supporting equipments needed, such as video or
poster, ppt, x-banner, etc.
Note: You could ask our Committee for help with printing the equipment, maximum 1 (one)
week before Grand Final
4. Each team can bring all supporting equipments to design the stand, such as, scissor, glue,
ribbon, etc.
5. Each team must prepare copied file of presentation in flashdisk for the presentation
6. All participants must follow the instruction from the Liaison Officer (LO)
EVENT FEE
Fee : Rp. 450,000 per person/team.
This event fee includes:
- Accomodation : Rp. 300,000
- Consumption : Rp. 50,000
- Gala Dinner : Rp. 50,000

PLACES TO VISIT
Malang may not be as big and crowd as Jakarta and Surabaya, but this city is popular as one of
enchanting tourist destinations in East Java. Also known as the city of apple, Malang has cool
atmosphere and makes a perfect destination for family holiday as there are many attractive places that
offer exciting experience to create beautiful memories. Malang’s atmosphere is dominated by
mountains and hills that make cool air and green scenery as far as the eyes can see. This is also among
various reasons for many people both local and foreign tourists to put Malang in this list of favorite
tourist destinations. There are tourism destinations that can be visited in Malang, such as:
1. Jawa Timur Park
Jawa Timur Park or more often known as
Jatim Park is a recreation and learning park
located in Batu City, East Java. This tourist
attraction is about 20 km west of Malang, and
now become one of the tourist icon of East
Java. This tourist attraction has 36 rides,
among them a gigantic swimming pool (with
backgrounds of statues of Ken Dedes, Ken
Arok, and Mpu Gandring), spinning coasters,
and drop zone. The educational platforms
that are the center of attention include
Volcano and Galeri Nusantara which also
contain agro plants, rare animal diorama, and
miniature of temples.

2. Secret Zoo (Jawa Timur Park 2)
Batu Secret Zoo is a modern tourist attraction
and zoo located in Batu City, East Java. Batu
Secret Zoo located on the land area of 14
hectares is part of JatimPark 2. In this place,
you can see a zoo with concept that has never
existed before. The visitors can see various
collections of animals that are placed in glass
cage surround with cliffy rock. Some animal
collections from various habitats, mostly
from Asia and Africa, can be found in this
zoo, including white lions, African deer,
macau birds, and various reptiles. This
interesting concept is capable to attract
children and parents can teach them about the
animal in a fun way.

3. Museum Angkut
Museum Angkut is a transportation
museum and a modern tourist
attraction located in Batu City, East
Java, abnout 20 km from Malang
City. The museum is located in an
area of 3.8 hectares on the slopes of
Mount Panderman and has over 300
traditional and modern transport
collections. The museum is divided
into several zones decorated with
landscape model building from Asia,
Europe to America. In Sunda Kelapa
and Batavia Zone which is a Replica
of Sunda Kelapa Harbor, decorated
by some ancient transportation
equipment such as pedicab and miniature ship. European zone is also in the setting as if it were on
the streets of cities in France with the cars of ancient Europe. In addition to the ancient cars, one
of the newest collection is Tucuxi electric car owned by former minister Dahlan Iskan who had
previously had an accident on a mountain slope in Magetan when just piloted. In this museum
there is also a vehicle Flight Simulator located on the 3rd floor of the museum building.

4. Coban Rondo
Coban Rondo waterfall is a beautiful water
fall on the slope of Mount Panderman resort
that is about 32 km to the west from Malang,
it is very interesting to see and visit. The
height of waterfall is about 60 meter. Visitor
can find and enjoy beautiful panorama or
peaceful. Coban Rondo waterfall is one of
the waterfalls are very popular among
domestic tourists and foreign tourists. From a
distance, you would hear the sound of the
waterfall. The farther you walk in, the clearer
it will be. In Coban Rondo you will not only
see the waterfall but the beautiful scenery
and the many green trees can be soothing
your mind. There are also outbound facilities
such as flyingfox , there are many great spots
to take pictures and capture the moment over
there. There are many shops that provide a wide variety of chips of fruits that can be taken home
as a souvenirs but there also stores that provides trinkets Coban Rondo waterfall.

5. Kampung Wisata Jodipan
Kampung Wisata Jodipan is the first
tourist village in Malang City which is
a row of houses residents on the banks
of the River Brantas featuring a wall of
various colors that are not monotonous.
This village is located in Jodipan on the
banks of the Brantas River. Kampung
Wisata Jodipan is usually well known
as Kampung Tridi or Kampung Warna
Warni.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
During this event, it would be wise to bring extra money. Indonesia mainly accept Indonesian Rupiah
(IDR) as a payment. In Malang, many big shops accept Visa and Master Card for payment. Please
contact your Liaison Officer (LO) for more information.
Rough estimation for daily needs are:
-Mineral Water 600ml : Rp 4,000.00 per Bottle
- Snacks : Rp 2,000.00 – Rp 20,000.00 each
- SIM Card : Rp 50,000.00 – Rp.100,000.00 each

CLIMATE AND WEATHER
Indonesia is a tropical country with two major seasons, the dry season and the rainy season. The wet
season for most of Indonesia is from September to March and the dry season is from March or June
(depending on the area) to September. But the times of these season varies from place to place.
The climate in Malang city features tropical monsoon climate as the climate precipitation throughout
the year is greatly influenced by the monsoon, bordering with subtropical highland climate. The driest
month is August with precipitation total 26 mm, while the wettest month is January with precipitation
total 334 mm. The temperature is moderated by the altitude, as the city is located at 506 m above sea
level. The hottest month is October and November with average 24.3 °C, while the coolest month is
July with average 22.4 °C. Therefore, we suggest you to bring an umbrella or a raincoat with you.
EXHIBITION RULES
1. Finalists are not allowed to leave all of I-CHALLENGE Grand Final Events
without having any permission from the Liaison Officer (LO)
2. Exibition stand arrangement is going to be announced at The Technical
Meeting
3. Any loss or damage to the team’s equipments and or product(s) is out of the I-
CHALLENGE 2018 Committe’s responsibility
4. All participants are required to cooperate with the committee during the
competition
5. All participants are not allowed to smoke and drink alcohols in the event
venue
6. The decision of judges are absolute and can not be rebutted after the winners
have been announced
7. All participants are not allowed to make commotion in the event
8. All participants must obey all the rules
9. Finalists that do not fulfill those rules will be considered to be resigning from
the competition
REWARD
1. All participants of I-CHALLENGE 2018 who passed the abstract selection will
get an E-Certificate.
2. All participants who enter the 15 finalists will get the Grand Finalist's
Certificate.
3. The winners are awarded in accordance with their rank:
A. 1st Winner: Rp. 5.000.000 + Vendel + Medal + Certificate
B. 2nd Winner: Rp. 3.000.000 + Vendel + Medal + Certificate
