THE ANCIENT GREEK CIVILITATION Greece was a difficult acces zone. It was a steep country at the

occidental part of europe

It was divided in city states and the mostimportant were sparta and athens

The athenian introduced a new type of goverment,the democracy. It means that the people select their leader.

Only the free man can vote for a leader. Women,slavesand children couldn´t vote

BUILDINGS The greek buildings was in the agora, the main part of the city. In

this place was all the important buildings of the city.

The ekklessia was the building were the citizens made all the city important decision. Women,children and slaves couldn´t participate

The estoa had a lot of columns and the people went here to buy.

The life in greece was different for men and women, rich and poor people, free men and slaves, only wealthy athenian men enjoyed their freedom.

They worked in pottery,farming,forgings,selling etc…In the farming they cultivate crops and raising animals.In the pottery the people made ceramics , in the forge metal objectsAnd selling they sell lots of thingsGreek food was plain healthy, they eat bread seafood and a little

meat. The rich eated more meat and slaves bread and porridge. They drink water or wine

CHILDHOODGreeks haved short families and boys were more important tan girls.

The families paid for marry their daughters. When a child born the father hang an olive branch in the door.

The children play games too, at the age of 7 the child play with dolls and balls. The mother also tell the childs stories and fables from aesop for example

The boys went to school but girls don´t go may be in rich families but in normal no. The Boys started school at the age of 7 in the house of the teacher. They learned to write and read, greek´s history and to play the lyre or flute.

MARRIAGEThe greek girls could be married at the age of 14. They

couldn´t say nothing about their husband. Until the wedding she would have know little more than her house and family. One day before the wedding the wife made a sacrifice to: zeus ,hera, artemis or apollo. The gods of marriage.

At the bride´s house they prepare a feast. And she puts his best clothes, crowned with a crown of leaves. Then the bride and groom made a sacrifice to gods. And during the nigth it taked place the feast.

SLAVERY AND FREEDOMPowerfull greeks haved slaves. Some slaves were captured people of

the war. They do unpleasant works as dig mines, but well-educated worked in pottery, farming etc. They belonged to someone and They weren´t considered citizens so they couldn´t vote

Freemen can vote but only adult boys. Only nobles can live well the freedom because they don`t have to pay taxes or work. The citizens had to work, pay tasks, to serve in the war and go to the ekklesia to decide the important things of the city.

OLD AGE AND DEATHThe people respected old mans for they

knowledge and experience. When someone died they put him waxed cloths in a coffin, after that they move the coffin to incinerate the body or to be buried.

CLOTHINGThe ancient greek cloths were simple, they always

wore a toga made of two rectangular pieces of cloth, the cloths were usually made of wool or linen this in normal families. Poor people weared a few clothes maybe to cover his main parts and it was made of animal leather. They wear sandals made of leather and poor people don´t wear nothing.

MEN STYLECLOTHES AND SHOES HAIR STYLE AND BEARDThe men clothes were a short

tunic that had a woolen piece over it. They have another simillar piece over the head, as a hood.

About shoes, they use the same for men and woman, sandalls, it was made of leather

About hair they can have cut or long, it was the same

They were clean shaven but some old men have a large beard in symbol of knownledge.

Women styleCLOTHES HAIR STYLEThey wore a large tunic that

reached their ankles, more than boys . It was composed of a long part of woolen and with out a hoodie

Women wore their hair long but they can put all in a pony tail or a bun. They usually put ribbons and head scarves on their hair.

PERSONAL RELIGIONGreek religion was practised any were at any time, in a temple or by the practitioners by their own way, the greek religion was personal and private.They can visit the temple when they want to pray and give offers such as flowers, incense and food to their goods. But they can do their own private sacrifice if they have means to do it, for example for sanity or prosperity. Greece was very supersticius they interpreted all as signs from gods

MYSTERIESIn addition to the ceremonies there were other rites that

were composed of a closed group of people this was called mysteries. The best example is the misteries of Eleusis. This people mantain that some concret activities can give you spiritual benefits and a best after-life

ORACLESIn places like oracles, they can obtain a divine connection with

the gods too. The great oracles of apollo or zeus were in a good place for to recive signs from theme. Places became hugely for have a good oracle. The oracle said people something that will occur to him in the future so this made famous to the oracles.

FESTIVALS AND GAMESAthletic games and competitions in music and theatre was very

popular in the ancient greece and they do it as festivals. people from all over greece came and they do all this in honor to a god. During this events was forbbiden all type of war. There were other smaller festivals usually celebrated by a closed group of people for example thearrhephoria in athens, only priesters and 4 girls.

THE GODSThe greek religion was politheistic so the believe in more than

one god, they represented human conditions. The gods lived in the mount olimpos, and they were recognised in all greece.the gods haved human apearience in imagination and in all greek documents. And they married and haved children as normal people.

TEMPLESThe temple was a sacred place were greeks pray to a god apart

from their personal rituals. The first temples were only a small altar in honor to the god but with the time huge and massive temples were started to build. In the altar were a big statue of athena in the parthenon of athens and zeus in olimpia. In the temple they do rites such as sacrifices with all people.

PRIESTS AND RITUALSPRIESTS RITUALSPriest were the people that

prepared all religious ceremonies and delivered in prayers. Every one can be a priest, men and women in honor to a god or goddes

Priest and prayers organised sacrifices of animals and burn food in honor to a god in the temple. They thinke thet this things give theme help and spiritual benefits

ZEUSZeus son of cronos is known as the father of the gods, he rules in

the mount olimpos and in all the gods. He married his sister hera and he has other brothers: poseidon, hades, demeter and hestia. He had lots of sons and daughters, gods and demigods.

About apereance he has a long white hair and beard and he wear a white toga.

He controls the thunder and sky, his symbol is the thunder and hisBird the eagle

MYTH, HOW ZEUS BECOME LEADERBefore zeus, born the titans cronos and rea, his fathers

controlled all. Someone warned cronos that one of his sons will overthrew him so he decide to eat all their sons and daughters. Rea hated this so she give his last son, zeus, to the nymphs to take care of zeus. When zeus become an adult and he know all about his father full of rage prepared a potion for cronos to expell his brothers and sisters from their stomach. Cronos drank the potion, the gods come out and all the brothers with zeus as leader defeated cronos for ever.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE PRESENTATION

I think that is a good way to do a homework,And I enjoy to do it because I like the greek mythology and the history about their gods. I think that the greek beliefs are incredible and fantastic.So I would like to know more about their gods.
