We need people to unload food from delivery vehicles, put food on the shelves, divide and bag bulk items for distribution, break down and recycle boxes, take away trash, distribute food, schedule volunteers, make phone calls, and many other jobs. The Pantry fills an important need in this community for your friends and neighbors who need help, sometimes temporarily, sometimes long term. If you can volunteer for this important ministry, please call the Methodist Church office, 526-3376 or Mary Heffington 526-3671. C.F.I.O.H. Christian Fellowship In Our Homes, where we meet in small groups, socialize, and get to know our fellow members of the HUMC congregation in our homes, will meet in May, June, & July. M,)),($)Homeless Outreach – bring sample size or hotel shampoos and soap and place in box on the credenza across from Sonja’s office. These will be given to area homeless shelters.

Food Pantry – Anyone in need, either temporarily or regularly, may visit the Pantry on Mondays from 3:30 – 5:30pm. Donations are accepted at the church office. Items most needed: rice, canned fruit, black beans, juices, tomato products, & bread.

Nail Benders meet on an as needed basis to go paint, build, clean, and landscape for those in our community who need help. If you want to get involved call the church.

Life Challenge is a Christian Discipleship Program created to help people with life controlling issues. We can help fund this program by providing gently-used clothing, household items, and small furniture for their Resale Shop in Dillsboro. Please bring your items to the church.

Sunday School ~ Elementary aged children are invited to meet each Sunday morning at 9:45am in the children’s Sunday School room downstairs with Luke.

Community After School Program operates Monday-Wednesday each week. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please contact Jennifer Forrester 526-3376 or [email protected]. The Community After-School Program provides a safe and enriching option for children grades K-5. The program includes snack, time for homework, and opportunities for activities such as music and art. The last day for after school for this school year will be Wednesday, May 15th.

3,4,5, Gang meets the first Sunday of the month from 5:30-7pm. Tay and Tamara Bronaugh lead this group of 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders with exciting, faith based activities. ALL children and youth eat dinner together from 5:30-6pm. Invite a friend!!!

Buck’s class (starts at 9:30 at Buck’s Coffee Shop) is studying “The Early Christian Letters for Everyone-James, Peter, John, & Judah” by N.T. Wright. Led by Wiley & Sarah Sloan & Fred & Elizabeth Motz.

Seekers are currently studying the book of Exodus. (meets in the Board Room) Led by Bob Gregory

Abundant Life is currently studying the book of Revelation. (meets in the parlor) Facilitated by Coach Butch Smart & Jan Potts

Over & Under 50 Disciples is studying: “Looking at the Old Testament through History and Archeology”. Led by Ken Bowser.

Sunday School – The youth meet downstairs each Sunday at 9:45am and will be digging deeper into their Bible with BL4Y - Bible Lessons for Youth, a curriculum designed to hep youth understand and apply the Bible to their lives.. SYF (Sunday Youth Fellowship) ~ ALL youth (grades 6-12) are invited for dinner and a study each Sunday evening from 5:30-7pm. We will begin with dinner at 5:30 and at 6:00 break into two groups. The Middle School are doing a “reel to real” study titled “It’s Us” and the High School group are studying Max Lucado’s book titled “Wild Grace.” I hope ALL youth will join us for this time of learning and fellowship! Invite a friend. Wednesdays After~School ~ 6th thru 12th graders are invited to come to HUMC after school for a time of homework, fellowship, and fun. Dinner is served each Wednesday at 5:15. The last day for after school for this school year will be Wednesday, May 15th.Wednesday Night Youth - The youth will meet after dinner each Wednesday beginning May 22, from 6-7pm throughout the summer. Wednesday evenings will consist of studies, fellowship, games, and fun! We hope you will continue to join us on Wednesdays after dinner!!Summer Youth Mission Trip - M25 is a homeless mission organized through Mt. Bethel UMC located in Marietta, GA. The youth have experienced this mission opportunity twice before and love it! July 23-27, we will once again have the opportunity to be in mission with this group serving the homeless in and around Atlanta. This mission is for grades 6-12 (completed). If you are interested, the deadline to sign up is May 15th and the cost is $100 (due by June 15).

Prayer Time on Wednesdays at 4:45pm. We gather in the parlor as a church for weekly prayer time. All are invited.

2013 Altar Flower Calendar: The Altar Guild of HUMC always welcomes the gift of flowers for our worship service. Flowers may be given to remember or honor loved ones, to give thanks, or to celebrate a special event, such as a birthday, anniversary, or a baptism. Please fill out one of the forms beneath the calendar, outside Paul’s office, and place in Sonja’s box across from the church office.
