Muriel Lindholm, RN, a resident of West Bend, has been rec-ognized with Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin St.

Josephs Hospitals DAISY award for her extraordinary care.Lindholm was nominated by Laura and Kevin Tillman, Lomira, forLindholms care of their newborn twins, Carter and Westen.

Muriel was the kindest, sweetest, most patient nurse that wehad the pleasure of being our nurse, said the Tillmans in theirnomination. If we ever come here again, which we will in aheartbeat if we decided to have more children, we would wantMurial.

The DAISY Foundation, an acronym for Diseases Attackingthe Immune System, recognizes nurses as unsung heroes of oursociety who deserve more recognition and honor than theyreceive. More than 1,000 hospitals throughout the UnitedStates participate in The DAISY Award program. Lindholm wasSt. Josephs recipient for first quarter 2014.

The DAISY Foundation provides each recipient with a sculp-

ture, A Healers Touch, that is hand-carved for the foundationby artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe. The sculpture is madeof Serpentine stone that comes from the mountains where themost powerful shaman live in Zimbabwe. The foundation chosethis design not only because it depicts the relationship nurseshave with their patients, but also because the Shona peoplehold their healers in a position of great importance to the com-munity and feel about their healers the way The DAISYFoundation and St. Josephs Hospital feel about nurses.

At St. Josephs Hospital, Lindholm was honored at a recentceremony at which she received a certificate, pin and the sculp-ture. Unit staff were also treated to Cinnabons in accordancewith the DAISY tradition.
