Run for a Cause: Riverdale’s First Barrier-Free Playground
Join TEAM HIR on May 3rd at the annual Riverdale Y ½ Marathon, 10k
run/walk to exercise, have fun and raise money to create Riverdale’s first
playground where all children can play together, regardless of physical
challenges. Featuring a Kid's Dash, an interactive Health Fair (sponsored by
Montefiore Hospital), an NYPD Rock Wall, Sports Authority Bouncy Sports
Bubble, face painting, a free breakfast, and full access to the Riverdale Y for
the day. All runners will receive a dry fit shirt and other great giveaways;
trophies for the top three winners, medals for top three male/female in each
age category (10 year), and medals for all 1/2 marathon finishers and kids
dash finishers, and prizes from our sponsors. Fairway Kosher Catering will
provide a free meat Kiddush to the synagogue team that raises the most
money.

Green Shabbat - 5/16/2015 Please join us for the Bayit's first Green Kiddush right after
tefillah. Parshat Behar discusses details of the Shmita year
(now occurring), commanding us to protect our land. The
Green Kiddush expresses the values of Shmita observance and
our stewardship of the Earth.
Throughout the day on May 16 the Bayit will highlight the
importance of climate change. Rav Steven's Drasha will focus
on the Torah's mandate to protect our environment and how

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
Now in Preparation
The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale will once again publish a BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE in which the
names of departed dear ones are recorded by their living relatives who recite Yizkor for them four times a
year. At the Yizkor service there is a prayer which says that an offering has been made in memory of those
for whom Yizkor was recited.
Members of the Bayit and the community at large may authorize us to publish the names of their departed
relatives and are asked for a token contribution of $18 or more for each name to be memorialized. Please
use the form below if you wish us to record names for you. The book will be printed in time for Shavuot.

IN THE BOOK.
