Community Security Service (CSS) CSS is a fully volunteer-based apolitical and non-denominational

organization. Its goal is to develop effective deterrence and response

capabilities to protect community members and institutions. It adheres

to all local and federal laws and cooperates closely with local law

enforcement agencies.

Please consider the importance of volunteering. Your commitment

will be a two hour shift every four to six weeks. You will learn

everything you need to know during your training. Please submit your

residents of the Riverdale community. The Gemach of Riverdale

is a non-profit organization providing interest-free loans to

those with cash flow challenges, with dignity and respect. For

The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale – The Bayit – is an open Orthodox synagogue serving the entire Jewish community by

The Bayit is pleased to partner with UJA-Federation to offer our

members the opportunity to invest in a charitable gift annuity.

When you do so, you receive guaranteed income for life, a

potential immediate tax deduction, and possible future tax

savings. Ultimately, the Bayit will receive 90% of the remainder

value, while 10% will go to UJA-Federation to support its efforts

for the entire Jewish community and to help cover the

There is no fee and all conversations are strictly confidential.

Jewish Spousal Loss Group The Shira Ruskay Center invites you to share the journey of loss while

gaining strength from each other and drawing solace from Jewish spiritual

texts. The group will meet for eight sessions at the Beatman Center from

5:00-6:30pm starting Monday February 23rd. Registration is required before

attendance. All services are free of charge.

Jewish Caregiver Support Group

Share experiences, benefit from mutual support and gain practical

advice. Group meetings are held once a month on Tuesday at the

Beatman Center.

Dementia Care Coaches through ReServe

Experienced Dementia Care Coaches are available to provide support

in the home to persons with dementia, and to their family members

and caregivers. Services include education, guidance and information

on managing challenging behaviors and creating a safe home environ-

ment. Please call 718-871-5301 to arrange a coaching session. Rates

are $18 an hour.

BAYIT SEFARIM FUND:

Donations to the Sefarim fund will be used to purchase

the books we need as determined by the rabbinic team and

gabbaim. Donors will be recognized with a thank you in

the 2nd bulletin of every month and a dedication label in

the book when it is purchased. To donate visit our website

Purim is sooner than you think. Online registration

for Project Matanot L’evyonim has begun. Members, help us

save paper and postage by responding to the email

invitations that were sent out.

ISRAEL SCHOLARSHIPS: UJA-Federation of New York's Israel

Experience Center continues to help New York Jewish teens entering

10th to 12th grades fulfill their dreams of traveling to Israel by providing

both need-based and merit scholarships. Each synagogue can nominate

up to two candidates for merit award consideration. Please contact Rav

Steven by March 1st if you'd like your child to be considered. For

PACK IT UP FOR PURIM Help us reach our goal of collecting 3,000 packages of non-perishable,

nutritious items to be distributed to hungry New Yorkers on Purim

day. We will be collecting packages from February 5th to March 5th

Baby Goldie: Goldie is a 7 week old baby born with many

medical issues. Goldie's mom is unable to be with Goldie day

and night, as she has Goldie's twin brother at home. Goldie is

at Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, Westchester.

Volunteers are needed to hold her, read and sing to her, and

advocate for her to the nursing staff in case she needs

something. Volunteers must be healthy/free of colds.
