colours with natural colouring foodstuff, healthier

food with fi bre enrichment and using natural fruit

sweeteners instead of refi ned sugars.

Since 1980, the fruit fi bres have been marketed

under the brandname Herbacel®. Since then,

into our product range, we have included several

variations of dietary fi bres with different characte-

ristics tailored for abundant applications.

The apple extract Herbarom® has been one of the

pioneers to colour and fl avour food and bevera-

ges in a natural way. Also, our sweetening app-

le extract – Herbasweet® –, is the market leader

among natural apple sweeteners.

Consumer consciousness of natural food ingre-

dients is still increasing. Artifi cial colours / E-Num-

bers on the ingredient list trigger rejection from

customers. Herbarom® is not just a natural alter-

native to colour food but the components of the

apple extract provide additional value to your

product.

Herbarom® is the product of your choice if you

want to set an accent in colour and taste without

having to use isolated colourings or fl avourings.

The intense brown colour is mainly based on the

high content of polyphenols. These nutritionally

valuable secondary plant compounds are attri-

buted to be antioxidants and free radical binders.

The Herbafood Ingredients GmbH is able to gua-

rantee a steady aroma profi le and colour intensi-

ty of Herbarom® through the production process.

The natural apple extract can be used to provide

a colour spectrum from light gold to deep brown.

Besides the colouring effect, the fruity compo-

nents and the acidic note of the Herbarom® round

off the gustatory profi le. The balanced sugar pro-

fi le of apple, including fructose, glucose and sor-

bitol has a positive effect on moisture-regulation

and fresh keeping in food. The sugar content of

the Herbarom® types AF 03, AF 06 and AF 12 is

about 40 %.

A sugar reduced and dark brownish type of Her-

barom®, named Herbarom® AF 24-SR, with about

2 % remaining sugars is also available. This type

is perfectly in use for colouring without adding

sweetness and comes in powder form as Herba-

rom® AF 24-SR-M20 as well.

The Herbarom® product range facilitates a wide

fi eld of applications and contributes to fulfi ll custo-

mer expectations.

Buying habits have been steadily changing for

decades and demand has been growing for na-

tural and sustainable products. The natural apple

extract Herbasweet® satisfi es exactly these

consumer needs.

Herbasweet® is produced under well-controlled

environment. During production, minerals, polysa-

ccharides and fruit acids are specifi cally removed.

Due to our expertise and long experience in the

fi eld, we are able to produce our apple extract in

slightly varying colour intensities and sugar con-

centrations. The apple sweetener is available ran-

ging from a clear, tasteless to a light gold, some-

what caramel type.

One of the big advantages of Herbasweet® is its

natural sugar spectrum containing fructose, glu-

cose and sorbitol. Our products can be used to

replace saccharose almost one-to-one. An additi-

onal benefi t is that, our customers can declare our

products as “apple sweetener” or “(sweetening)

apple extract”.

Owing to its special sugar spectrum, bakery pro-

ducts stay long fresh with Herbasweet® added in-

stead of refi ned sugars.

To sum up, great sales pitch can be achieved by

using Herbasweet® and the demand for natural

products can be met.
