Key Challenges:

• Raw material inspection and defining the process flow.

• In house fixture development for machining.

• 3D and profile program generation from master cam X10.

• Prototype part machining done to ensure quality before

original material machining.

• Roughing and finishing operation done separately to ensure quality.

• Material : Stainless Steel Grade 420

• Volume : 3000 Nos./Month

• Tolerance Limit : Diameter Tolerance

On 17mm dia ± 5 µm

On 16mm dia ± 10 µm

On 19mm dia ± 15 µm

Key Challenges:

•Ra value requirement 0.2 to 0.4 µm.

•Diameter Tolerance requirement ± 5 µm

•Keyway milling at 50HRC & Tolerance of ± 20 µm

Key Achievements:

• Turning operation reduced from 3 setup to 2 setting process.

• Hard Turning Process carried out with Ra value maintained from 0.2 to 0.4 µm.

• Keyway milling at both ends of shaft with a tolerance of ± 20 µm.

• Material : Cast Iron

• Tolerance Limit : ± 10 µm (Bearing seating area).

Key Challenges:

• Before Machining the casting has to be checked for defects

such as extra projections, blow holes and material defects.

• Complete assembly components machining.

• Part Breakage

Key Achievements:

• Diametrical machining done in turning instead of milling.

• Special type of fixtures were designed to hold the part.

• Eliminated the Part breakage due to optimized process.
