Manufacturing Plant
BHEL Haridwar has two manufacturing plants:-
Heavy Electrical Equipment Plant (HEEP)
Central Foundry Forge Plant (CFFP).
HEEP includes design and manufacture of large steamturbines, turbo generators, hydro turbines andgenerators, hydro turbines and generators, largeAC/DC motors and so on.
CFFP is engaged in manufacture of Steel Castings:Upto 50 Tons Per Piece Wt & Steel Forgings: Upto 55Tons Per Piece Wt.

About Steam Turbine
A steam turbine is a mech. device that extractsthermal energy from pressurized steam, andconverts it into rotary motion.
It has almost completely replaced thereciprocating piston steam engine (invented by
Thomas Newcomen and greatly improved byJames Watt) primarily because of its greaterthermal efficiency and higher power-to-weightratio.
Because the turbine generates rotary motion, it is
particularly suited to be used to drive anelectrical generator about 80% of all electricitygeneration in the world is by use of steamturbines.
