456 MACHINERY & GOODS (+VAT) – AUCTIONEER JAMES MORRISH

A wonderful start to the year with buyers present from as far afield as Skipton in Yorkshire and Ashford in Kent.

Top call of the day was £14,500 given for the New Holland tractor in as part of the clearance from Beaworthy with the Farmaster JCB close up at £9,500 going off to its new home in Dorset. A fantastic entry of lorries saw M/S RA Delivery top the day with their 2007 reg Scania tractor unit at £8,500 with a Volvo tractor unit for Luke Furse at £8,200.

Several lorry trailers (35-40ft) sold between £1,800 and £2,000 whilst the best new Agri building going to St Breock, Cornwall at £6,100.

Other tractors hit £6,400 for the John Deere (attention needed) direct from Newton Abbot whilst the International c/w loader from M/S Collins Partners went off to its new home in Somerset. A splendid line up of machinery saw a top call of £3,000 for the John Deere front mower with plenty of implements between £1,200 - £2,000.

The clearance of gates from Liskeard market topped at £250 with the cattle crush from the same home at £650. Plenty of livestock equipment forward with 2 sheep feeders reaching £650 each on behalf of Mr Robert Partridge of Dawlish with the next part dispersal from M/S Phipps of Exbourne seeing a whole line up of ‘walk through feeders’ reaching £85 each going off to North Cornwall. M/S Landick of Dartmoor topped the livestock trailers at £2,050 with others from Gareth Piper at £950.

M/S Rural Excess of Chepstow again sold a lovely consignment of tools to a top of £130 for a Husqvarna power saw with another one at £125.

677 MACHINERY & GOODS (NON VAT) – AUCTIONEER DAVID C KIVELL A superb entry of goods in the non-VAT section saw a big crowd of buyers in attendance pushing the best item to £3,000 for the road sweeper direct from Glasgow (Scotland) going to its new home near Wadebridge in North Cornwall. Sue Young of Liskeard saw a cracking trade for her horse trailer reaching £1,125 whilst Mr Andrews of Buckland Brewer topped the 21 trailers sold on the day at £850, going to its new home near Tavistock.

David Chugg of Barnstaple sold his quad trailer well at £700 whilst the best of 11 cars/vans hit £450 for a Mercedes Sprinter van for M/S Sandercock of Launceston. Plenty of compressors forward today topped at £155 on behalf of Sarah Bradshaw with plenty of other tools & goods up and over the £100 bracket. 3 nice caravans went under the hammer with the best reaching £300 on behalf of Eric Burnhill and the best of a huge entry of logs and fire lightings topping at £38 for M/S Greenaway.

102 PIGS – AUCTIONEER JAMES MORRISH A nice entry of pigs saw a steady trade with limited interest throughout the sale. Trade nationally seems to be very depressed mainly because of the huge numbers of tons of cheap imported pork being sold within the UK. Today’s sale was topped by a heavyweight sow owned by M/S Petherick of Boscastle and purchased by Rodney Phillips of Bristol. Other leading prices came from Richard Haste of Newton St Petrock who sold a boar at £85 purchased by Levi Moseley of Dorset. Jason Lang & Family of Parkham topped their dispersal at £75. The best of the younger pigs were sold by Stacey James of Thornbury at £70 with others from M/S Pengelly of Callington at £65. The best of the very young store pigs came in from Richard Haste & Family who saw the best of their Pietrain stores sell to £50 for a pen of 8.

Trade was good from start to finish with the very best reaching £58 for whistling ducks on behalf of M/S Tucker of Bideford with others from the same home at £54 & £50 going to their new home in Torpoint. Regular vendor Charlie Currah enjoyed strong success reaching £50 for the best of his 40 birds whilst the very genuine dispersal on behalf of M/S Crocker of St Dominic, Cornwall topped at £46 for a pair of Speckled Sussex.
