Halo Masyarakat Keluarga Holy Family,

In the last newsletter it was mentioned that the senior children have been busy working on their Inquiry projects. The amazing work the classroom teachers have prepared and the children have worked on is almost complete and they will be showcasing their work to parents and families on Friday the 7th of December.

The Year 3/4 students have created an “Inclusive Playground,” and a large interactive model will be on display. The Year 5/6 children have been doing a project called “Christmas Bazaar,” resulting in the creation of Christmas themed items which they will sell to raise more money for drought afflicted farmers. Their learning involved budgeting to buy the things they need to create their items and be able to sell them for a profit.

The end of the school year is also a time to say goodbye to some of our families who are moving as well as families whose youngest child is now leaving Primary School. We wish them all the best for the future.

It is also a time to say goodbye to some valued staff members. Sinead Mc Hugh who teaches P.E and Year 5 /6 students and Lynsey Breen, our Literacy Leader and Year 3/4 teacher are moving on from Holy Family to other school communities. They have both contributed greatly to our school since joining us and I know they will be greatly missed by the children, their colleagues and parents. I wish them both well for the future.

As a result of Lynsey and Sinead’s departure we will be employing new teaching staff. We have yet to finalise all of these positions and when this is done I will inform you of staffing for 2019.

Enjoy the week ahead.

Advent Wreath: Many people celebrate Advent

by lighting the candles of an Advent wreath each day, accompanied by a prayer. One candle for Week 1, two candles for Week 2, and so on. The wreath comprises three purple candles and one rose-coloured, for the joyful Third Week of Advent. They are set in a circle of evergreen leaves, symbolising God’s endless life and love. A fifth candle, a white ‘Christ’ candle, may be placed in the centre to be lit at Christmas. The gradual lighting of the candles represents the increasing light of Christ as his coming draws near.

In the first week of Advent we are reminded to ‘stay awake’ and ready for the coming of Jesus. As we light the first candle on our Advent wreath let us remember that Jesus is the light of our world. May we always be ready to welcome him into our lives.

Prayer: All-powerful God, increase our strength of will for doing

good that Christ may find an eager welcome at his coming and call us to his side in the kingdom of heaven, where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, forever and ever.

AMEN.

Advent is the beginning of the Church Year for most churches in the Western tradition. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, December 2nd and ends on Christmas Eve (Dec
