About Reverie Dance Academy

Our goal is to nurture all of our students and help them achieve their artistic goals, whether they are just starting out in dance or are ready to compete and perform at the highest level. Reverie’s summer selection of classes for ages 3-19 includes our summer intensive, ballet, tap, jumps & turns and acro. The studio is also home to the Reverie Dance Company, our national-award winning dance ensemble. Our spacious four-studio facility is located at 1157 N. Arlington Heights Road in Buffalo Grove.

About Artistic Director, Lacey Rust

Artistic Director, Lacey Rust, holds her B.F.A. degree in Dance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her extensive ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, hip hop and modern dance training with New York’s American Ballet Theatre (ABT), Boston Ballet, Cleveland/San Jose Ballet in Ohio, Joel Hall Dancer Center in Chicago and Salt Creek Ballet will benefit all of our dancers. Lacey teaches all dance disciplines and all levels, and is certified through ABT’s National Training Curriculum in Pre-Primary through Level 3.

Tuition and Payment

75 minute classes $125 per 5-week session, or $25 per class 3 weeks $975 ($325 per week)

2 weeks $700 ($350 per week)

Tuition is due with registration for all evening classes. A $100 deposit (non-refundable) is due with registration for all Summer Intensive participants. Please make checks payable to Reverie Dance Academy. There will be a $30 fee on all returned checks. A 3.5% fee will be added per credit card transaction. Payments will be processed by July 1st.

We offer a 10% discount on 3 or more classes, for the entire 5-week session. This discount does not apply to Summer Intensive tuition.

Private lessons are available for enrolled students. Cost for private lessons varies by teacher. Please contact [email protected] for pricing information.

2018 SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE (For Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Level Dancers)

Back by popular demand, Reverie Dance Academy is excited to announce plans for our 2018 Summer Dance Intensive. The SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE is a program designed for Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Level dancers (ages 6-18 yrs old) who are serious

about their training and want to take it to the next level. Dancers will be placed in different classes based on their skill level.

Dancers interested in auditioning for the 2018-19 RDC season MUST attend at least two weeks of the Summer Intensive, with the exception of dancers who wish to be considered

for the Itty-Bitty Company (one week required). Dancers who wish to be considered for the PPII or Pre-Pro companies must attend at least three weeks of the Summer Intensive.

Monday – Thursday 10:00am-2:30pm July 9th – August 9th (five-weeks)

SAMPLE SCHEDULE: (exact class schedule will change each day)

Summer Dance Intensive classes will include:

BALLET, JUMPS & TURNS, LYRICAL, JAZZ, HIP HOP, MUSICAL THEATRE JAZZ, LATIN JAZZ, MODERN, ACRO, DANCE HISTORY & NUTRITION/DANCER HEALTH.

SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE PRICING (Summer Intensive tuition cannot be pro-rated):

Full Five-Week Program: $275 per week ($1,375 Total)

Four Week Session: $300 per week ($1,200 Total)

Three Week Session: $325 per week ($975 Total)

Two Week Session: $350 per week ($700 Total)

One Week at a Time: $375 per week

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. This program will fill, so register now! To reserve your spot

in the Summer Intensive, please submit a non-refundable $100.00 deposit with your registration form beginning

on Monday, April 30th. Your final balance will be due by June 15th. In addition to our Summer Intensive, RDA

Summer Class Descriptions

Ballet: The foundation of all dance forms. The focus of ballet includes body placement, flexibility, balance, alignment, strength and technique. Both barre and center floor work are included. Tap: A form of dance where the students use the sound of their tap shoes as a percussive instrument. Dancers will gain a range of skills including musicality, rhythm and balance. Acro: Gain upper body strength, core strength, and overall flexibility. Students will learn tumbling skills such as cartwheels, front & back walk-overs, aerials & back handsprings. Jumps/Turns: Learn the techniques used to perfect the turns, leaps, and jumps seen in Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical and Poms. This class will build balance, coordination, flexibility, and muscle memory. Reverie Dance Company (RDC): By audition only. Dancers perform throughout the year, including the annual Winter and June Showcases, and attend Competitions/Conventions. Contact the Artistic Director or review the RDC section on our web site for details.

Dress Code (Black Jazz shoes and Black Tap shoes are strictly prohibited)

Ballet (including Little Dancers): Black leotard, pink tights, ballet skirt (optional), pink ballet shoes (preferably canvas), hair in a clean ballet bun. Boys: White fitted t-shirt, black jazz pants, black ballet shoes. Acro: Black leotard, booty shorts (any color), no tights, barefoot. Hair should be worn in a low ponytail or braid. No buns! Tap Black leotard with pink, tan or black tights, black jazz pants, or booty shorts (any color). Childrens’ Tap Shoes: Capezio Tan Mary-Jane style; Intermediate-Advanced Tap Shoes: Bloch Tan Lace-up, hair in a clean ponytail or bun. Boys: White fitted t-shirt, black jazz pants, black tap shoes. Jumps/Turns: Black leotard with pink, tan or black tights, black jazz pants, or booty shorts (any color), tan slip-on jazz shoes (leather), hair in a clean ballet bun. Boys: White fitted t-shirt, black jazz pants, black ballet or jazz shoes. RDC: Black leotard with pink, tan or black tights, black jazz pants, or booty shorts (any color), tan slip-on jazz shoes (leather) and pink ballet shoes, hair in a clean ballet bun.

Reverie Dance Company (RDC)

Members of the Reverie Dance Company (RDC) represent the best of Reverie Dance Academy. The goal of Reverie Dance Company is to offer our dancers the opportunity to perform as often as possible throughout the year! In addition to performing in the annual Showcase Performance in June, RDC members will perform at the RDC Winter Showcase (December), two Conventions/Competitions per year and one to two additional competitions per year and a National Competition over the summer. The exact competition schedule will not be finalized until late fall. All performances, conventions and competitions are 100% mandatory. Absolutely NO exceptions.

RDC Auditions

Auditions for the 2018-19 Reverie Dance Company will be held Monday, August 27th – Wednesday, August 29th.

The audition will take place over 3 days. Day 1 will be a mandatory audition clinic. Days 2 & 3 will be the actual audition in front of the judges. Dancers should audition with their own age group unless otherwise instructed.

5-7 years old from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

8–11 years old from 5:45-7:15 p.m.

12–18 years old from 7:30–9:00 p.m.

Dancers need to come prepared to learn and perform combinations in ballet, lyrical and jazz. Dancers will also be evaluated on flexibility, turns (pirouettes), jumps across the floor (jetés) and performance ability. All dancers will be required to turn in a signed RDC Commitment Form before auditioning (available at the studio in August).

Audition Attire

Dancers should arrive in a black leotard (any style) and pink, tan or black tights, with pink ballet shoes and tan slip-on jazz shoes. Please no shorts, pants or skirts for the audition. Hair should be pulled back securely in a clean ballet bun. Dancers will be judged on audition appearance.

What To Bring To The Audition

On Monday, August 27th all dancers must submit a $45 audition fee (cash or check only), a signed RDC Commitment Packet (available over the summer at the studio), a photo showing their face (ex. headshot or school picture) for judges’ identification purposes. Please note, the photo will not be returned.

Audition Results

Dancers will be contacted either by phone or email by September 3rd with their audition results. *Dancers interested in auditioning for the 2018-19 RDC season MUST attend at least two weeks of the Summer Intensive, with the exception of dancers who wish to be considered for the Itty-Bitty Company (one week required).
