and Cli V Millss > wiu < CAITAL STOCK 200000 Incorporators of Hopkitisville- Milling Co Chief Owners I of Both Plants 1 Articles incorporationg the Hop kinsyjlle Milling Company were filed Saturday the capital stock being 200000 divided into 100 shares The incorporators are James West W T Cooper R A Rogers Dr S H Williams M V Dulin C L Dan iel and Frank K Yost The new company absorbs two of jthe principal milling plants of the deity the Crescent and the Climax which will be run as heretofore but under one management from the office of the Crescent mill on Sev ¬ enth Street The officers will be elected later The two mills have a combined ca acity of one thousand barrels of 4 bur a day besides other mill pro ¬ ductsThe consolidation is a business move of great importance The op ¬ erating expenses will be lessened and the capacity increased One mill is located on the L N and the other has tracks connecting with both the L N and 1 C roads Theincorporators are among Hop kinsv best and most successful business men and both mills have been financial successes from the i start The cheapest paint is not the kind that looks a lot for the money Its the kind that spreads farthest wears May 1t The salesman for the association disposed of 154 hogsheads df tobacco last week nearly all of the weed sold being lugs and common to med ¬ ium leaf Lugs ranged in price from 7 to 10 and leaf from 10 to 18 While there was a falling off in sales over the week b fore the de ¬ mand was lively and this weeks sales will probably be much heavier About 800 hogsheads of association tobacco have been sold here in this month and it is quite likely that the figures will reach the thousand mark before the end of the month No very fine leaf has been offered as yetReceipts for last week were 238 hogsheads making a total of 5819 hogsheads for the season Although there were no very large purchases the last week all the buyers wereonihefloorrand carefully in ¬ the various types- greatest bene ¬ factor in many ways has put the Methodist church the largest in point of membership in the city un ¬ der obligations to him for the ten ¬ der of building site for the erec ¬ tion of a house of worship Rev Geo H Means recently applied to Mr Latham for an option on his va ¬ cant lot corner Ninth and Campbell streets as the Methodist church has outgrown its present quarters on Ninth and Clay and is on the look ¬ out for another lot Mr Latham wheri apprised of the purpose for which the lot was wanted told Dr Means that he would donate to the church as much of the lot as is need ¬ ed for the new building The church committee was to meet last night to formulate plans and decide how much ground would be needed The lot covers nearly a whole square and is the one formerly occupied by the Latham warehouse dynamited d and burned by raiders Dec 7th be ¬ weeas k I property previous to the raid was worth 25000 and the vacant lot is probably worth half as much It fronts on three streets and is only separated from the L N railroad by one vacant lot also in the burned districtMr numerous donations and great generosity to the churche and public enterprises of the city have been so frequent that the pub ¬ lic has become accustomed to them This one to a church with which he is in no way connected is one of the most valuable of all Only a year or two ago he donated a parish house to the Episcopal church of which his mother and sister were members Ditch Caved In The ditch for the sanitary sewer line down the river bank from the city workhouse caved in Saturday while workmen were laying the pipe and Jim Pinner cob had a very close call A white plumber further along in the ditch also had to jump to escape The ditch was cleaned out and the pipe laid the same day The cavein was in the soft fill near the I C depot B F C Commencement The final exercises of commences ment week at Bethel College will be held tonight and five young ladies will receive diplomas and certificates The pupils recital was held last nght and was a most enjoyable event largely attended Miners Get Busy In the Elkhorn and Pocahontas W Va coalfields more than 2000 miners who have been
