Our Main ProductThe idea of our main product was to showcase our artist’ star persona in order create a larger fan base. We wanted to pay homage to the Hip-hop/Rap conventions but at the same time add our own flavour and so we researched similar style artist.

Influences:

This is an image of the artist ‘Logic’, we were slightly influenced by his style as his music and artist persona id very similar to our own.

This image is of a Hip-hop/Rap duo called L’Trimm. We were influenced by the dance aspect of these artist in the video for their song; cars that go boom. The keep to the ideology of dancing in a car park and having an urban appearance. They are also two female dancers which is what we chose to include as well.

This image was taken from the film Vertigo and is and example of Intertextuality used in our music video. As the dancers were performing on different floors of the car park we thought it would have an good artistic visual to show the whole staircase from a high angle just like in Vertigo.

The Magazine advert was designed on Photoshop in order to sell the Digipak we created and so the two are combined effectively to reflect our Music Video. The picture from the magazine advert is very similar to the music video because the shot was taken at the same location as the music video but it also stands alone effectively as it does not appear in the music video. I think the magazine reaches our audience’ expectations as it keeps to our genre as well as bringing something new. We have not created anything controversial and so our audience would think highly of this product.

Our only influence for our magazine advert was the artist Macklemore's Video- The Town. In this Video there is a scene where he has a skyline with the sun is setting behind him. This is similar to scenes throughout video.

Unlike our other products; Magazine Advert and Music Video, We have not been influenced by any other artists as we wanted the digipak to be focused on the artist. I think this would be something the audience would not be expecting however, in a positive way.

The digipak portrays some conventional elements of Hip-Hop/Rap however, you can not pre judge this product as we composed it to focus all on the artist. The main theme of the digipak is simple, it only consists of four main colour; pink blue grey and brown. Because our other products sold our artist’ star persona and talents, our idea was to sell our artist personality in the digipak and so we thought it was necessary to use simple colours and include a personal message from the artist to his fans. In the music video three other people were present whereas, in this digital package it is mainly our artist in every image but one. I think this would exceed our audience’ expectations as it would not be what they would expect as it is more intimate than usual.

To Conclude, I believe our three products are professionally composed in an effective way to create an image for our artist. This image is that he is a Hip-Hop/Rap artist with an urban/street fashionable style. He also has an image of talented as he can breakdance and perform hat tricks. We have created an effective promotional package as each product plays on our artists persona in a different way. The magazine advert and music video consist of a lot of typical conventions for our Hip-hop/Rap genre, On the other hand, our digipak shows that our artist is also down to earth even with his success and is grateful for his fans. Overall, we have created an amazing synergy that attracts our Hip-hop, street and Rap audience in a way they can relate and aspire to.
