All AYSO Volunteers must complete three online courses: AYSO Safe Haven™, CDC Concussion Awareness, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest. All of these courses may be completed online at AYSO University. To complete them:
1. Log into AYSO University (aysoU.org) using the same credentials with which you e-Signed your volunteer application at ayso114.org. (Make sure when you log in that the name shown is YOURS, and not the name of another user in your household, otherwise they will get credit for completing the course but not you.)
Complete Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course The state of California requires AYSO Coaches and Volunteers to complete Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) compliance training. You may complete this through aysoU.org.
1. Once logged into aysoU.org (see previous steps for help), from the top menu click Online Courses and click Open next to Sudden Cardiac Arrest Online Course.
2. Click Launch next to the online course module. This course takes approximately 8 minutes.
All AYSO Referees must obtain an AYSO Certification at the specific level they will referee. This must be completed in an in-person class. You can register for in-person Referee Certification courses through AYSO University.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE ONLINE REFEREE TRAINING:
In the Online Courses menu, AYSO lists online-only referee training such as, “Regional Referee Training.” This course is used in conjunction with the in-person referee certification, but taken by itself does not satisfy the in-person course. Regional Referees must still register for and attend an in-person Referee Training course.
To register for an in-person Referee Training course:
1. Log into AYSO University (aysoU.org) using the same credentials under which you e-Signed your volunteer application. Make sure when you log in that the name shown is YOURS, and not the name of another user in your household.
5. The Referee Course page shows dates and locations of courses being offered by all AYSO Regions.
6. Click the blue title to see additional information about a given course. When you find a date and location one that fits schedule, click Register. Note: Some AYSO Regions charge a fee to referees of other regions to attend their course. (Often about $35.) If another region charges a registered AYSO Region 114 Referee, keep the receipt and Region 114 will reimburse you. Congrats! You have now registered for the in-person course. You are not done yet. You must attend and pass a competency test at the completion of the course in order to obtain your AYSO Referee Certification.
