FMC’s Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) system is designed to perform all types of wireline jobs using braided wire or slick line. It enables operations of tool strings with variable length, and is designed with no circulation of well fluids to the intervention vessel.
The system is flexible and can perform operations on all Subsea Tree configurations for production and injection wells. The system has provision for well kill and is designed to operate efficiently and competitively versus rig based operations.

RLWI - System Overview
FMC’s Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) system offers safe and cost effective intervention operations on existing subsea wells resulting in increased or accelerated production volumes. The RLWI system can be deployed from smaller vessels and is easily transportable across fields.
Riserless Light Well Intervention System
System DescriptionReducing the cost of offshore intervention operations is the principal driving force behind the development of the RLWI technology. FMC’s RLWI System enables cost effective intervention operations into existing subsea wells, resulting in additional production volumes from mature subsea fields at highly competitive costs for the incremental volumes of oil. It is currently available in 7 1/16” 10k configuration and includes Upper and Lower Lubricator Packages, together with a Well Control Package (WCP) and adapters to suit most subsea tree types.
Patented Lubricator SystemFMC’s RLWI technology includes a patented Lubricator System for inserting downhole tool packages into the wellbore under full pressure without taking hydrocarbons back to the vessel or to the environment. The technology enables integrated operations, increases safety by reducing personnel exposure, as well as reducing cost.
