From The Desk of the Pastor
This week, as we approach the end of Advent, let us learn to listen to
our guardian angel or to God as we pray. And when we get an answer,
even if it different than we expected, we need to trust in God, unlike
Ahaz in the first reading, and act on it. All through Advent we have
been called to prepare for his coming, to rid ourselves of the things
getting in the way of our relationship with God. Let us ponder, mediate
and pray. Let us listen to what is being said to us. Let the acceptance be
our Christmas gift, much as Joseph listened to the angel and allowed
God to enter our world with grace and care. Soon we will have our
Emmanuel – God with us – and we will know that we are never alone.
God is always with us

Upcoming Anniversaries and Birthdays:
What is the meaning of the Advent Wreath?
Since circles have no beginning and no end, the circular shape of the Advent Wreath is used to symbolize God the Father and eternal life. The wreath holds four candles which are lit over the four weeks of Advent. There are three violet (purple) candles and one rose candle, each representing 1,000 years. Added together, the four candles symbolize the 4,000 years that humanity waited for the Savior. Violet is a liturgical color that is used to signify a time of penance, sacrifice, and prayer. During the first two and the last weeks of Advent we light violet candles. The Third Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday. On this day, we celebrate that our waiting for Christmas is almost over. Rose is a liturgical color that is used to signify joy, so we light the rose candle on the third Sunday of Advent. Traditionally, each of the four candles on an Advent wreath has their own meaning. The first Sunday of Advent symbolizes Hope with the Prophet’s Candle reminding us that Jesus is coming. The second Sunday of Advent symbolizes Faith with the Bethlehem Candle reminding us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. The third Sunday of Advent symbolizes Joy with the Shepherd’s Candle reminding us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus. The fourth Sunday symbolizes Peace with the Angel’s Candle reminding us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.” When Advent Wreaths are decorated the materials often have symbolic meaning. The use of evergreens reminds us of our eternal life with Christ, holly represents the crown of thorns from the Passion of Jesus, and pine cones symbolize Christ’s Resurrection.

R & R (Respect and Reverence)
Housekeeping Note: Please no food or drink in the Chapel area. Thank you for your cooperation!
Times when not to bother a Priest: Please be respectful of our Pastor’s time before and after Mass. At the present time Father Victor does not have office hours. If you wish to meet with him, you are most welcome to email or phone him to arrange an appointment. Our Website contact page is setup for that purpose
Respect People’s Personal Space: During our sign of peace tradition, we at St Francis are quite zealous with our affection. Please be mindful of those that aren't as comfortable with hugs and kisses and remember, a soft spoken word with an appropriate handshake or even an acknowledgement bow can go a long way!
Ministry Leaders: Those who have volunteered for these positions are responsible for their Ministry and leading other who volunteer to assist within their ministries.
I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then it dawned on me. They were cramming for their finals.
Thanks Jim Villafana
