Stealing in Dwellings, from the Person, &c.

On 25th ult., from the hut of H. Taylor, shepherd, Mokine, Northam District,—pair moleskin trousers, hole burnt in front bottom of left leg, two Crimean shirts, silk kerchief, butcher's knife, 81bs. flour, Slbs. pork, and some tobacco. The offender was evidently on horseback, as Taylor could see where horse was tied. Northam Police send description of shirts and kerchief.—C.I. 266.

Dog recovered, lost, not stolen.

On 23rd ult., from house of Dennis McCarthy, Williams Eiver,—about 61bs. of stick tobacco, 151bs. sugar, and dozen boxes of matches. 21bs. of stolen tobacco recovered by P.C. Peirl, who traced it to the possession of t.l. Eeg. No. 5936, James Williams.— C.L 257. No further information sent.

On 12th ult., from new Masonic Hall, Fremantle, the property of John Eose,—carpenter's hammer, large-sized steel claw hammer, marked J E conjoined. —C.L 258.

On or about 18th ult., from the hut of William Harper, about 20 miles south of Dongarra, on ground occupied by Edward W. Clarkson,—lib. tea and 61b. j)ork. This robbery was effected by drawing the staple out of the door.—C.L 260.

On 24th ult., from David Judd, near Lewis F. Eidley's house, Irwin Eiver,—two horsertigs, one of the rugs quite new, the other used a little, black and red stripes at ends; blue serge smock, has been opened down the front; and flannel shirt slightly worn.—C.L 261.

On 22nd ult., from hut of John Eobertson, at the Boyingup road, 14 miles from Bunbury,—about 40 lbs. flour, |-oz. tea, |-stick tobacco, and small quantity of sugar. Natives suspected.—C.L 262.

On 3rd inst., from showcase of Thomas Barker's shop, Goderich Street, Perth,—silver open-faced verge watch, flint bull's-eye glass, case engine turned, much worn, cream colored dial, roman figures. Maker's name and No. not known at present. Gold hands. Also, from the shop, same time, piece of bacon about 3 lbs.—C.L 263.

Smuggling. WILLIAM WALKEE, free, boatswain in charge of

the P. & 0. Company's lighter "Tork," Albany, summoned by Eobert Fairbairn, Esq., Sub-Collector of Customs, Albany, on 15th ult., on information laid by Sub-Inspector Finlay, on 13th ult., for smuggling a bag of uncustomed manufactured tobacco, -vyeighing 52 lbs., on board lighter " Tork," on 13th ult. Seizure effected by Sub-Inspector Finlay. Convicted and fined, on 15th ult., at Albany Court, d£39 and costs, to be paid within 14 days, or in default 6 months' imprisonment. Property Found. By P.C. Stack, whilst on patrol, 13th ult., on the

beach between the mouths of Warren and Murray Elvers, 70 miles S.E. of Lower Blackwood, between high and low water mark,—a cask of English ale, marked on both ends "Bass & Co., Burton, V" ; also, what appears to be the topsail yard of a schooner of 100 tons; ironwork complete; spar is 36 feet long, and quite sound. P.C. Stack found near same place, corked bottle containing a memo, as follows:—" Ship Ethiopian, in latitude 44° S., longitude 42 ° E., from London, bound to Sydney, N.S.W., 57 days from the Lizard, and distance sailed 9635 miles; average per day 169 miles. All well on board. Sunday, 6th June, 1875. William Fane, M.S."

On 30th ult., in Adelaide Terrace,—Brass cap of carriage wheel; now at Detective Office.

On 2nd inst., between Freemason's and United Service Hotels, Perth,—massive gold dress ring, heart shape on top, with the letters J.W.P. 1874, engraved thereon.

Warrants Issued. JOHN HOCKINGS, exp., late Eeg. No. , is charged

by William Nancarrow, on information laid before T. Purges, Esq., J.P., at Knockbrack, on 25th ult., with maliciously breaking one of his horse's legs, on 23rd ult.; also for stealing a case of spirituous liquor, on 23rd ult. John Hockings, exp., is in custody at Northampton, on charge of drunkenness.

THOMAS LINWOOD, exp., late Eeg. No. 8501. Description—Middling stout, about 33 years, Sft. 5in. high, dark brown hair, blue or grey eyes, round visage, dark complexion, is a cook; is charged on warrant issued at Knockbrack, on 22nd ult., with deserting from the service of John Williams of WelloguUy, on 15th ult. Linwood was seen by P.C. Carroll, on 24th ult., en route to Geraldine Mines.

Miscellaneous. W I L L I A M B A T L I S S , exp., late Eeg. No. , charged

by Corpl. O'ConneU, at Fremant le Police Court, on 26th ult., ;vith cruelly treat ing two horses on 24th ult. Fined =£3.

A man giving the name of J O H N H A W L E Y , mid­dling stout, about 30 years, about 5 ft. 6 in., dark brown hair and whiskers, blue or grey eyes; wore dark brown tweed suit, white shirt, and billycock hat, carried a small bundle in handkerchief; stated tha t he was a seaman of " Agnes ," having left her at Fremantle, and was going to Bunbury to join her again ; was seen at Pinjarrah by P.C. Hogan, on 1st ult. Enquiry has been made and no such man belongs, or has belonged, to crew of schooner " A g n e s . " Eepor t to be sent to Detective Office relative to this man 's movements.

H E N E Y B I E C H , c.r., Eeg. No. 9667, has been speared by an aboriginal native and very badly wounded, on 22nd ult., at the Murchison. The native is known as W O O L E N . Birch was speared while in the act of drawing a bucket of water ; information will be laid.

Absconders. 1. H E N E Y E I N G T O N , Eeg . No. 4620, Imperial

Convict; arrived in the colony per convict ship Nile, in January, 1858. Description—Middling stout, present age 45, 6ft. 9in. high, sandy hair, dark brown eyes, long visage, fresh complexion. Marks—H.K. on each a r m ; a farm laborer. Absconded from a Convict Party at Point Eesolution on the 10th October, 1868. H E N E Y E I N G T O N is shown in list of convict ship " N i l e " as Henry Eington ; but in another par t of ship list he is shown as Henry Kington, with the same description, &c. There is evidently some mistake in spelling the name, and he may be going in the name of Kington.

3. W I L L I A M GOODLAND aZiasBiLL A T T E L , Eeg. N O . 8269, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Eacehorse, 1865, under sentence of 20 years, p.s., March, 1863. Description—Stout, broad shoulders, present age 34, Sft. 7f in. high, dark brown hair, bald, l ight hazel eyes, long visage, fair com­plexion. Marks—Anchor and J r ight a r m ; sailor and mermaid left arm ; a carpenter ; has a spot size of half crown on left side of head void of ha i r ; has been in Eoyal Navy ; an Engl ishman ; walks with a quick short step, turns right foot outward. Absconded from Convict Boat Par ty , Fremantle , on the 16th December, 1870, and is believed he went overland to South Australia with Bernard Stein in October, 1874.

6. J A M E S B A K E E , Eeg . No. 9068, Imperial Con­vict ; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Corona, 1866, under sentence of 15 years p.s., 25th March,

^ 1865. Description—Slight, present age 69, Sft. 3 | in . h igh, grey hair, grey eyes, round visage, dark com­plexion; a laborer. Absconded from Nor tham Convict Eoad Par ty on the l l t h Ju ly , 1871, last heard of at DeBurgh 's , Moore Eiver.

6. H E N E Y BEADBUEY, Eeg. No. 6979, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Lincelles, January , 1862. Description—Stout, pre­sent age 35, Sft. 5^in. high, l ight brown hair, l ight hazel eyes, long visage, fresh complexion; a butcher.

( Absconded from Convict Boat Par ty , Fremant le , on the 3rd April , 1872.

7. D E N N I S M A N N I N G , Eeg . No. 9513, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Norwood, July, 1867; sentenced to 10 years in 1865, bu t received additional sentences in this Colony for larceny. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. 2iu. high, black hair, black eyes, round visage, swarthy

complexion; a laborer. Absconded from Freshwater Bay Eoad Par ty on the 10th May, 1873. D E N N I S M A N N I N G is further described, for information of police, as an Ir ishman, short necked, has a Jewish appearance, walks with a rolling gait, has a deal to say, especially upon horses, carries his a rms wide from his body, and will most likely pass for a groom, and he has a good knowledge of horses.

8. J O H N or J A M E S K E A E N S , Eeg. No. 10097, Colonial Convict; under sentence of 5 years p.s., a t Albany, on the 19th February, 1873, his Imperia l Eeg. No. was 7747, sentence 6 years p.s., on the 7th May, 1861. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. 4in. high, brown hair, oval visage, dark complexion, Marks—Bayonet stab in neck, D left side, bullet mark on r ight leg, willow left arm, J . right a r m ; a laborer. Absconded from Point Eesolution Eoad party on the 10th August , 1873.

9. H E N E Y PAEKENSON, Eeg. No. 8674, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Vimiera, December, 1865, reconvicted for larcenies in this Colony. Description—Middling stout, present age 36, Sft. 6fin. high, brown hair, grey eyes, oval visage, fresh complexion. Marks—Dot and H on left a r m ; a laborer. Absconded from North Fre­mantle Depot on the Sth March, 1874, believed to be in or near Pe r th .

29. J A M E S F O S T E E , t.L, Eeg . No. 8263. Des­cription—stout, age 33 years, height Sft. 5f in., brown hair, hazel eyes, oval visage, sallow complexion. Marks—flags, D, 18, 1863, r ight arm ; anchor, dar t , heart , crown, and bracelets, left arm. Absconded while on pass from Fremantle to Tork , from 6th to 9th inst.

Eeg. No. 9242, H U G H M C G E I S K I N , t.L, reported lost in bush, a t War ren , but from iuformation supposed to have absconded and gone to Albany. Notified per telegram from L. S. Back, Vasse.

9242, reported lost, bu t supposed absconded on 19th u l t . ; not heard of up to 25th ult. , a l though P .C. Stack has been searching for him assisted by natives. McGriskin was last seen on horseback, and is reported to be in possession of Certificate of Freedom,—whose, unknown ; also that he will t ry to get out of Colony via Albany. Descri})tion—35 years of age, Sft. Sfin. high, brown hair, blue eyes, long visage, sallow complexion, middling stout; has lost two upper teeth ; is a plate-roUer. Eeceived life sentence on 29th July, 1865.

30. C H A E L E S F E E G U S O N , exp., late Eeg . No. 7989. Description—Thin, 46 years of age, Sft. 9^in. h igh, dark hair, dark hazel eyes, sharp visage, dark com­plexion ; scar r ight side of cheek; is a shoemaker. Absconded from Geraldton Local Gaol, on 28th u l t . ; re-convicted at Quarter Sessions, Geraldton, on 7th June , 1876, on charge of forging and altering cheques, and sentenced to 7 years ' p.s.

Conditional Release Holder Eeg. No. 8328, F E A N C I S K I N G , has reported arrival

in Tork , and on 27th ult. reported leaving Tork for Swan District.

Certificate of Freedom issued at Pe r th Police Court, on 30th ult. , to E e g . No. 9172, E D W A E D H A G U E , convicted of man­slaughter, at Manchester in Lancashire, and sentenced to 10 years' p.s., on 29th July, 1866.

Conditional Eelease Issued to Eeg. No. 9182, James Harding , at Gerald­ton, on 25th ult. Convicted of Burglary at New Sarum in Wiltshire, on 19th July, 1866, and received sentence of 15 years ' penal servitude.

On 6th inst., from premises of James Fitzgibbon, Guildford Eoad,—two sacks of palm wool, ordinary sacks.—C.L 265.

JOCKEY, ab. native, alias SOLDIEE alias JACOB, native name BUEELL, died near John Wellard's, of Serpentine, about June, 1876. From inquiries made by L. C. TJrquhart, it is supposed that offender is identical with this native.

JAMBS FEY, exp., late 1662. Description—slight, age 46 years, 5ft. 7|in. high, light-colored hair and eyes, visage long and thin, fair complexion, has a very dirty appearance; is charged, on warrant issued at Newcastle, on 2nd inst., with stealing rations from the hut of Eobert Mason, Newcastle District, on 26th ult. Fry wears very ragged clothes. Thorough search to be made at arrest of this offender, as he is strongly suspected of having poison. Vide C.L 19.

Edwards, at the Creek, York Eoad, carrying away new saddle, oil coat strapped on in front, with pair new white webb girths, pair of stirrup leathers and irons, towel, new pair blue cloth trowsers, 4 white linen collars, three white pocket handkerchiefs, and Police cap cover. Description of horse, 15 hands 1 inch high, black colour, white star 7 on forehead, branded C in diamond, on off shoulder; when last seen was making for the Helena.

On 7th inst., near Fenian Eoad, Perth,—lady's black velvet suspending bag, trimmed with black beads, containing green purse, 3 or 4 shillings, thimble and case, and pocket handkerchief marked K. Wood­man.

On 9th inst., in Howick or Hay Streets, Perth, —a jet brooch, with Virgin and ChUd thereon.

Absconded when on pass from Fremantle to Perth, between the 25th and 30th ult.; offender is a half-witted old man, and is supposed to have gone to Bunbury.

Miscellaneous. EDWARD HYDE, exp., late 8579, was charged at

the Fremantle Police Court, on 9th inst., with using threatening language towards Emily Summerfield. On the 7th inst., Hyde was bound over to keep the peace for three months, himself in ^£10 and two sureties in £5 each, or in default three months' imprisonment; sureties not fotmd.

Eeferring to t.l. Reg. No. 9242 HUGH MCGEISKIN, vide pages 127 and 129, it has been reported by P.C. Stack that no doubt exists as to his having been lost and not attempting to abscond. McGriskin eventu­ally found his way to Clark's station on the Donnelly Eiver, having been nine days without food; he killed his horse on the sixth day of being lost for sake of food, but in trying to find some water, lost all knowledge of the place where he had killed the horse. P.C. Stack recovered, by tracking, all the property McGriskin lost, as also the carcase of the horse.

JOHN EGAN, free, gave himself up to Geraldton Police, on 7th inst.; stating tha,t he had caused the death of John Farley, exp., at Chinnabiddy, about 220 miles eastward from Champion Bay. Egan states that Parley had assaulted him with a stick, whilst he (Egan) was trying to get a revolver out of some clothes, in which the revolver was wrapped and that it accidentally went off, the bullet going through Farley's breast, killing him at once. On the 9th inst., John Egan, free, was charged at Geraldton Police Court, with having killed John Farley, on the night of the 2nd inst.; he was admitted to bail on his own recognizance to appear at Chinnabiddy, where the Eesident Magistrate, Greenough, and Dr. Elliott have gone to hold inquest on body of deceased.

Extract from Victorian Police Gazette. Sarah Jones, off Chetwynd Street, Hotham,

requests information of her husband, BENJAMIN JONES, who was employed in a lead mine at Narra Tarra Mine, Champion Bay, Western Australia, for about 18 months up to June last. Description—A native of Wales, a miner and laborer, about SO years of age, Sft. 9 or lOin. high, stout budd, fair com­plexion, full face, blue eyes, dark brown hair, beard aud whiskers mixed with grey; sometimes shaves. Enquiry to be made and if anything is known of this man, report to be sent to Detective office.

Absconders. 1. HENEY EINGTON, Eeg. No. 4620, Imperial

Convict; arrived in the colony per convict ship Nile, in January, 1858. Description—Middhng stout, present age 45, Sft. 9in. high, sandy hair, dark brown eyes, long visage, fresh complexion. Marks—H.K. on each arm; a farm laborer. Absconded from a Convict Party at Point Eesolution on the 10th October, 1868. HENEY EINGTON is shown in list of convict ship " Ni le" as Henry Eington ; but in another part of ship list he is shown as Henry Kington, with the same description, &c. There is evidently some mistake in spelling the name, and he may be going in the name of Kington.

3. WILLIAM GOODLAND aZiasBiLL ATTEL, Eeg. No. 8269, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Eacehorse, 1865, under sentence of 20 years, p.s., March, 1863. Description—Stout, broad shoulders, present age 34, Sft. 7f in. high, dark brown hair, bald, light hazel eyes, long visage, fair com­plexion. Marks—Anchor and J right arm; sailor and mermaid left arm; a carpenter; has a spot size of half crown on left side of head void of hair; has been in Eoyal Navy ; an Englishman; walks vrith a quick short step, turns right foot outward. Absconded from Convict Boat Party, Fremantle, on the 16th December, 1870, and is believed he went overland to South Australia with Bernard Stein in October, 1874.

_ 5. JAMES BAKER, Eeg. No. 9068, Imperial Con­vict ; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Corona, 1866, under sentence of 15 years p.s., 25th March, 1865. Description—Slight, present age 69, Sft. 3|in.

Description—Stout, pre­sent age 35, Sft. 5|in. high, light brown hair, light hazel eyes, long visage, fresh complexion; a butcher. Absconded from Convict Boat Party, Fremantle, on the 3rd April, 1872.

7. DENNIS MANNING, Reg. No. 9513, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Norwood, July, 1867 ; sentenced to 10 years in 1865, but received additional sentences in this Colony for larceny. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. 2in. high, black hair, black eyes, round visage, swarthy complexion ; a laborer. Absconded from Freshwater Bay Road Party on the 10th May, 1873. DENNIS MANNING is further described, for information of police, as an Irishman, short necked, has a Jewish appearance, walks with a rolling gait, has a deal to say, especially upon horses, carries his arms wide from his body, and will most likely pass for a groom, and he has a good knowledge of horses.

8. JOHN or JAMES KEAENS, Eeg. No. 10097, Colonial Convict; under sentence of 5 years p.s., at Albany, on the 19th February, 1873, his Imperial Eeg. No. was 7747, sentence 6 years p.s., on the 7th May, 1861. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. 4in. high, brown hair, oval visage, dark complexion, Marks—Bayonet stab in neck, D left side, bullet mark on right leg, willow left arm, J. right arm; a

laborer. Absconded from Point Eesolution Eoad party on the 10th August, 1873.

9. HENRY PAEKENSON, Eeg. No. 8674, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Vimiera, December, 1865, reconvicted for larcenies in this Colony. Description—Middling stout, present age 36, Sft. 6fin. high, brown hair, grey eyes, oval i, visage, fresh complexion. Marks—Dot and H on left arm; a laborer. Absconded from North Fre­mantle Depot on the Sth March, 1874, believed to be in or near Perth.

29. JAMES FOSTER, t.L, Eeg. No. 8263. Des­cription—stout, age 33 years, height Sft. Sfin., brown hair, hazel eyes, oval visage, sallow complexion. P.C. Edwards, Beverley, reports result of inquiry referring to remains of a man found at Qualing Gully. There is every reason to believe that it is the remains of PATRICK RYAN, exp., late Reg. No. 3221, who answers to the description given and was seen, in February or March last, at Stanton Springs, by Henry Randall, who gave Ryan some food; Stanton Springs is about 13 mUes from where deceased was found.

JOHN BAGSHAW, exp., is now residing at York.

An aboriginal native boy (not known), about five or six years old, was found dead by an aboriginal named Dolbey, on 27th ult., near Mallalling, Beverley District. Dolbey reported it to a shepherd named John Rourke, who saw the body and identified it as that of a boy he had seen two days previously in company with two other natives, he was then very sick. The night previous to finding the body was very cold and wet; and as there were no marks of violence on the body, Rourke and Dolbey buried it.

MATTHEW BATEMAN, free; charged at Pinjarrah Police Court, by L.C. Urquhart, on 14th inst., with unlawfuUy shooting and maiming a cow the pro­perty of E. McLarty, on the 6th inst. Fined £2 IOs,, including costs.

WILLIAM LAKET, exp., late Reg. No. 5862; charged by Water police, Premantle, on 18th inst., at Premantle Police Court, with landing and taking to his house, one cask pitch from the South Beach, from the British ship " Majorian," without due entry being made or warrant granted for its landing. Judgment reserved.

Referring to dog lost by James Galpin, it has been reported by P.C. McCormish that Richard FlindeU took away a dog answering to description of dog in question, with the intention of taking it to India. Richard FlindeU left Albany in August last per s. s. " Bangalore," but took no dog with him, neither did he take one to Albany.

At Northampton Police Court, on 13th inst., Richard Lucas, free, publican, fined 40s. and costs, for allowing a drunken person to remain on his pre­mises ; two other cases heard against Lucas, one dismissed and the other judgment reserved.

At Bunbury Police Court, on 16th inst., Joseph BusweU, exp., late Reg. No. 3223, lodging house keeper, was fined 40s., for allowing a drunken man to remain on his premises.

Inquests. On 19th inst., by J. G. Slade, E.M., Premantle, on

body of William Taylor, exp., late 7562, who died suddenly at Fremantle, on 18th inst. Verdict— " Accidental death, caused by the rupture of a blood­vessel in the left lung, caused by a faU while carrying a heavy weight on the 18th inst."

On 21st inst., at Colonial Hospital, Perth, by E. W. Landor, Esq., Police Magistrate, on the body of James Ward, free, found drowned in River Swan, Perth, on 21st inst. Verdict—"Accidental death by falling off William Street jetty, Perth, and being drowned." This verdict not to prejudice any other verdict being delivered if it should be ascertained that Ward had met with any foul play.

On 21st inst., by J. G. Slade, Esq., Eesident Magistrate, Premantle, at Premantle Prison Hospital, on body of Matthew Tiemey, free, late a private of the Enrolled Force, who died on 21st inst. Verdict— " Died from the effects of a gunshot wound in the left jaw, caused by an accident while on sentry at the prison, on the 28th ult."

Assault. JOHN P. WHITELY, free, schoolmaster of Roman

Catholic Orj)hanage, Subiaco, charged by Corporal Archdeacon, at Perth Police Court, on 21st inst., with having committed an aggravated assault upon a boy named Thomas Philip McGann, who is under the age of 14 years, by flogging him with an instrument called a cat of nine tails, the ends being tipped with catgut, and giving him 36 strokes therewith upon his loins with undue severity, on the l l t h October, 1876. Fined £20 without costs, or in default 6 months' imprisonment.

J. CARRERAS, Roman Catholic Priest in charge of Orphanage, Subiaco, charged by Corporal Arch­deacon, at Perth Police Court, on 21st., for that he did aid, abet, counsel, and procure the commission of an aggravated assault on Thomas Philip McGann, as above described. Fined £20 without costs, or in default six months' imprisonment.

Sfin. high, hair very dark brown, dark hazel eyes, round visage, dark complexion; is charged, on warrant issued at Knockbrack, on 14th inst., with being in the service of WilUam Nancarrow, on or about 23rd September, 1876, and did break open and carry away a case of spirits, the property of William Nancarrow, he being in charge of same as teamster.

another part of ship list he is shown as Henry Kington, with the same description, &c. There is evidently some mistake in spelUng the name, and he may be going in the name of Kington.

3. WILLIAM GOODLAND aKosBiLL ATTEL, Reg. NO. 8269, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Racehorse, 1865, under sentence of 20 years, p.s., March, 1863. Description—Stout, broad shoulders, present age 34, Sft. 7|in. high, dark brown hair, bald, Ught hazel eyes, long visage, fair com­plexion. Marks—Anchor and J right arm; sailor and mermaid left arm; a carpenter; has a spot size of half crown on left side of head void of hair; has been in Royal Navy ; an Englishman; walks with a quick short step, turns right foot outward. Absconded from Convict Boat Party, Premantle, on the 16th December, 1870, and is believed he went overland to South Australia with Bernard Stein in October, 1874.

5. JAMES BAKER, Reg. No. 9068, Imperial Con­vict ; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Corona, 1866, under sentence of 16 years p.s., 26th March, 1865. Description—SUght, present age 69, Sft. 3|in. high, grey hair, grey eyes, round visage, dark com­plexion; a laborer. Absconded from Northam Convict Eoad Party on the l l t h July, 1871, last heard of at DeBurgh's, Moore River.

6. HENRY BEADBURY, Reg. No. 5979, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Lincelles, January, 1862. Description—Stout, pre­sent age 35, Sft. S^in. high, light brown hair, light hazel eyes, long visage, fresh complexion; a butcher. Absconded from Convict Boat Party, Premantle, on the 3rd April, 1872.

7. DENNIS MANNING, Reg. No. 9513, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Norwood, July, 1867; sentenced to 10 years in 1865, but received additional sentences in this Colony for larceny. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. 2in. high, black hair, black eyes, round visage, swarthy complexion ; a laborer. Absconded from Freshwater Bay Road Party on the 10th May, 1873. DENNIS MANNING is further described, for information of police, as an Irishman, short necked, has a Jewish appearance, walks with a rolling gait, has a deal to

say, especially upon horses, carries his arms wide from his body, and wiU most likely pass for a groom, and he has a good knowledge of horses.

8. JOHN or JAMES KEARNS, Reg. No. 10097, Colonial Convict; under sentence of 5 years p.s., at Albany, on the 19th February, 1873, his Imperial Eeg. No. was 7747, sentence 6 years p.s., on the 7th May, 1861. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. ^ 4in. high, brown hair, oval visage, dark complexion, Marks—Bayonet stab in neck, D left side, bullet mark on right leg, willow left arm, J. right arm; a laborer. Absconded from Point Eesolution Road party on the 10th August, 1873.

9. HENEY PARKENSON, Reg. No. 8674, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Vimiera, December, 1865, reconvicted for larcenies in this Colony. Description—MiddUng stout, present^ age 36, Sft. 6|in. high, brown hair, grey eyes, ovalT visage, fresh complexion. Marks—Dot and H on left arm; a laborer. Absconded from North Fre­mantle Depot on the 8th March, 1874, beUeved to be in or near Perth.

29. JAMES POSTER, t.L, Eeg. No. 8263. Des­cription—stout, age 33 years, height Sft. Sfin., brown hair, hazel eyes, oval visage, sallow complexion. Marks—flags, D, 18, 1863, right arm; anchor, dart, heart, crown, and bracelets, left arm. Absconded while on pass from Fremantle to York, from Sth to 9th inst.

30. CHARLES FERGUSON, exp., late Eeg. No. 7989. Description—Thin, 46 years of age, Sft. 9|in. high, dark hair, dark hazel eyes, sharp visage, dark com­plexion ; scar right side of cheek; is a shoemaker. Absconded from Geraldton Local Gaol, on 28th ult.; re-convicted at Quarter Sessions, Geraldton, on 7th June, 1876, on charge of forging and altering cheques, and sentenced to 7 years' p.s.

32. BENJAMIN COUNT, t.L, Eeg. No. 4642. Des­cription—Slight, 41 years of age, Sft. 3fin. high, brown hair, turning grey, grey eyes, oval visage, fresh complexion, has a cut on upper lip, has absconded from the Wellington district while on pass to seek work from 25th September to 1st October, 1876.
