Please Make Your Gift to the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal

“Come, Follow Me”

During the last few weeks, many parish families received a letter from Cardinal Cupich requesting your participation by making a pledge to the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal. We ask that you respond as generously as possible. The Appeal supports both Parish and Archdiocesan ministries and services. The Appeal funds services are of great help to ministries here in our Parish. This year, the theme of the Appeal is “Come, Follow Me.” We have all received God’s love. By financially supporting the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we help to extend God’s love to many, many others. As you review the mailing from Cardinal Cupich, please note the ministries and services funded by the Appeal, including the ones that directly support the work of our parish. Then please give gener-ously. Note, when our parish reaches its goal of $ 10,597.00 in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our Parish.

ANGST - FREE FILM SCREENING AT RESURRECTION

Parents, educators, and community members are welcome to attend a free film screening of the IndieFlix film Angst, an inspirational and educational movie that discusses anxiety and the challenges it brings to our children and teens. The movie screening will be held at Resurrection College Prep, 7500 W. Talcott Avenue in Chicago, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 7:00 pm and will be followed by a Q & A with mental health professionals. Advance registration at www.reshs.org is requested, but walk-ins are welcome to attend. The film aims to break the stigma around anxiety and offer discussion and resources to deal with anxiety disorders. The event is being sponsored by Resurrection College Prep and its Student Services department in conjunction with a week of activities related to the theme of student wellness. The 56-minute film, Angst, will be viewed by all Resurrection students during regular school hours, followed by discussion with school counselors. This documentary film brings people together to talk about anxiety and its impact on children and teens. The movie features candid interviews with children, teens and young adults who discuss their anxiety. Among those interviewed is Olympian Michael Phelps, who discusses the difficulties he ex-perienced after being bullied. Advice from mental health professionals round out the movie’s content to foster a thorough un-derstanding of anxiety’s effects. Information about the film and resources for coping with anxiety are available at https://angstmovie.com/. Questions about the film screening at Resurrection College Prep may be directed to Resurrection Dean of Students Tamara Bernardin at [email protected] or 773.775.6616 Ext 113. Resurrection College Prep High School, located at 7500 West Talcott Avenue in Chicago, is the largest all girls’ Catholic, Christian college preparatory high school for young women on the north side of Chicago. Since its founding in 1922. Resurrection has graduated over 14,000 alumnae. For more information about Resurrection College Prep High School, call 773.775.6616 Ext 129 or visit www.reshs.org.
