IMPROVING PROFITS WITH HUMIDITY CONTROLOptimal humidity in textile manufacturing has many benefits that will enhanceprofitability. These include improving product quality, maintaining productweight, reducing machine downtime and improving employee comfort.
Product weightMaintaining the correct relativehumidity will prevent moisture lossduring a textile’s processing andstorage. Typically losses can be reducedfrom 4% to just 0.5%, which results inan immediate 3.5% increase in productyield and profitability.
Yarn product qualityFibre that is exposed to low humiditywill become more brittle, be prone tobreakage and suffer increased fibreshedding during yarn manufacture. This results in a poorer quality yarn andincreased wastage. Correcthumidification maintains yarn strengthand elasticity, producing a betterquality product with higher margins.
Static controlStatic build-up can cause reducedproductivity and product quality due tolint and fly attraction, machine jamsand employee discomfort or evenaccidents. Higher humidity naturallydissipates static charges alleviatingthese problems.
Weaving efficiencyOptimal humidification reduces yarnbreakages in weaving, reducingmachine downtime as well as loomstop marks and weavers knots in thefinished product. Condair has helpedmanufacturers increase theirproduction efficiencies from as low as49% up to 96% through effectivehumidity control.
Employee comfortCold water humidifiers can deliveraround 5°C of evaporative cooling to atextile production facility. Theincreased humidity will also suppressdust, fly and lint creating a healthierand more productive atmosphere foremployees.
