Easter is the holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and dates all the way back to the very beginning of Christianity. Easter represents new life and the rebirth of Christ which took place the third day after he was crucified. There are several symbols that are asso-ciated with Easter but why are these particular symbols used for this holiday?
The main traditional symbols associated with Easter are rabbits and eggs. Children look for-ward to painting eggs all kinds of exciting colors and then spending the evening hunting for them. It is fun for the whole family. Eggs symbolize the tomb from which Christ emerged and the hatching of the baby chick is the symbol of new life being born. This is why they were chosen as symbols for Easter!

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented youth. As a world leader in gifted and talented education, Duke TIP works with students, their families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help students reach their highest potential. Each year, students around the country are eligible to participate in a highly selective Talent Search for 4th/5th and 7th graders. Students must score in the 95th percentile or higher on a criterion-referenced test, such as the ITBS. Students only need to qualify in one sub-test (math computation, reading, etc.). Based on their scores, they are then eligible to enroll in the Talent Search. Participating in the Talent Search provides stu-dents many exciting, stimulating, and challenging opportunities through online lessons, publications, contests, and accelerated pro-grams. The Tampa Catholic Crusaderette Dance and Twirling Teams will hold their annual Dance Camp June 11 and 12 in the Tampa Catholic gym. Cost is $55 & includes a T-shirt. Time - 9 to 3, Ages 5 - 12. Artesanía a Mano de Mantillas de Encaje/Velo de Capilla
Están invitadas a unirse a un nuevo Ministerio en nuestra parroquia para hacer a mano velos de encaje para capilla, también conocido como
“Mantillas” o “Velos”. El uso de la mantilla sobre la cabeza durante la santa Misa es una antigua tradición. En tiempos recientes el cubrirse la cabeza no ha sido una práctica común, pero desde que el Papa Benedicto XVI emitió el motu proprio de 2007 Summorum Pontificum que lo autoriza explícitamente son cada vez más populares. Creo en el Espíritu Santo
T odos los domingos, en la profesión de fe, afirmamos: “Creo en el Espíritu Santo”. ¿En que se basa nuestra fe en
el Espíritu Santo? Cada vez que aparece el Espíritu Santo en la Biblia es porque va a ocurrir algo grande, nuevo y maravilloso. “En el principio era la nada, pero el Espíritu de Dios flotaba sobre la superficie de las aguas”. Un segundo momento de esta presencia del Espíritu está también en Génesis, cuando Dios modela a Adán “del barro de la tierra”. “Y soplo Dios el aliento de vida”.
Jesús también nos habla del Espíritu y nos ofrece la promesa de un defensor: “Yo rogaré al Padre y les dará otro defensor que
permanecerá con ustedes. Éste es el Espíritu de verdad…” (Jn 14:16-17) “No se preocupen. El Espíritu Santo les enseñara en el
momento lo que hay que decir…” (Lc 12:12) “Les he hablado mientras estaba con ustedes. En adelante
el Espíritu Defensor les va a enseñar todas las cosas”... (Jn 14:25-26) Jesús cumplió su promesa en Pentecostés. (Hechos 2:1-5)
¿Qué efectos tiene el Espíritu en nosotros? La presencia del Espíritu Santo transforma profundamente. Los apóstoles se llenaron del Espíritu. Perdieron el miedo y se llenaron de fortaleza y alegría. Los apóstoles no tuvieron fuerza para seguir a Jesús en los momentos difíciles. Pero con la venida del Espíritu hay un gran cambio. Se lanzan a predicar a Cristo muerto y resucitado. El Espíritu actúa también en los corazones de los que lo escuchan. Así empieza la Iglesia. El Espíritu Santo no sólo anima a las personas una por una, sino que las impulsa a reunirse, a crear comunidad. Lo que sucede en cada comunidad cristiana y en toda la Iglesia no es sólo obra de las personas, sino principalmente del Espíritu Santo.
El Espíritu continua obrando en nosotros La acción del Espíritu Santo no fue sólo para los primeros cristianos, sino para todos nosotros. No siempre es fácil vivir como Jesús. Encontramos muchos obstáculos.
