Finally, in the Gospel, we hear the story of the miraculous feeding of over five thousand people from a mere five loaves and two fish. Most of us have our material needs met on a day-to-day basis. These scriptures, nevertheless, have much to say to the contemporary believer. We must ask ourselves, “Where are my deepest hungers? Where are my thirsts?” After ma- terial needs are satisfied and, in some cases, over-satisfied, many people still experience a deep longing for spiritual balance and well-being. As the loaves and fish are multiplied in today’s Gospel, perhaps our prayer can be a longing for the satisfaction of the deepest needs that only God can fill. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

Church of the Incarnation, Tampa, FL Phone: (813) 885-7861

An Invitation from the Office of the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute (LPMI). So often, people ask how they might grow in their faith. In response to this searching, Bishop Lynch initiated the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute. The LPMI is a four-year program: an informal year of discernment and three years of formal academic training and spiritual growth.

The initial segment of the program, the Year of Discernment, consists of eight Saturday sessions from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The classes will meet at the Christ the King Parish Mary Martha House, located at 821 South Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33609. Classes begin on September 10, 2011 and continue once monthly through April 2012.

The LPMI provides education and formation for laity in the Catholic faith. The program is designed to enhance personal faith and develop intellectual aptitude to enrich personal ministry. For anyone interested in attending the LPMI Year of Discernment, brochures are available in the church or in the parish office. In addition, the registration form and program information can be found on the LPMI web site at http://dosp-lpmi.CatholicWeb.com/. For more information, call the LPMI office at (727) 344-1611, ext. 458. Registrations are due in the LPMI office no later than September 2, 2011.

The Ministry Formation Program offered by the Diocese of St. Petersburg Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute is accredited by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation, 2311 South Lake Drive, Suite 317, St. Francis, Wisconsin 53235-3702. 1 de agosto ♦ San Alfonso María de Ligorio Nació en Nápoles el año 1696; obtuvo el doctorado en ambos derechos, recibió la ordenación sacerdotal e instituyó la Congregación llamada del Santísimo Redentor.

© Copyright, Nuestra Parroquia
