THE PROJECT OF PAINTING ST. MICHAEL’S HALL WAS A GREAT SUCCESS! We are most grateful for all the help we received from the men of our Hispanic Community who took time out of their schedule last week to volunteer 2 days to paint St. Michael’s Hall. They are great examples to us. Speaking about Time, Talent & Treasure… Many times we speak about Treasure and sometimes over-look Time & Talent. However, without the generosity of Gardner-Gibson Sun Paints & Coatings and these men who shared their Time & Talent, our parish would have needed a great treasure in order to make this project a reality.

¿Qué es la vocación y cómo se descubre?
V ocación es llamada. Se trata de saber quién quiere Dios que lleguemos a ser. Y luego hay que descubrir cómo
vamos a llegar ahí y qué tareas o pasos debemos dar. Pero, ¿cómo vamos a saber cuál es esa vocación, ese quién, cómo y qué? Para empezar, se trata de descubrir los deseos que Dios vaya poniendo en tu corazón. ¿Sientes una atracción o desafío a hacia el servicio a los demás? ¿Te imaginas viviendo como sacerdote, como religiosa o religioso, como persona casada, o como persona soltera con gran dedicación a las cosas de Dios? ¿Buscas un encuentro personal con Dios? Después, tiene que haber una disposición a salir de ti e ir al encuentro con Dios, que puede ser algo desconocido e incluso misterioso. Siempre hay que dejar algo. Los que piensan que su vida está en la vida religiosa dejan atrás su familia , sus posesiones y a menudo su país. Quienes piensan en la vida matrimonial también tienen que dejar atrás la vida familiar que han conocido y comenzar un camino nuevo. Y lo mismo para quienes deciden la vida soltera. Es una cuestión de opción. Para todo, lo que hay que ir viendo es a qué misión se elige por encima de todas las seguridades. Para discernir bien hacen falta siete actitudes o cualidades:
1. Apertura. No podemos encontrar la voluntad de Dios si entramos en el proceso con un resultado preconcebido, basado en nuestra propia voluntad.
2. Generosidad. Es como tener un cheque en blanco para que Dios disponga lo que quiere que le demos.
3. Valor. Hace falta coraje, porque Dios podría estar pidiendo algo difícil y arriesgado.
4. Libertad interior. El deseo más profundo y la motivación principal es hacer la voluntad de Dios.
5. Reflexión en oración para escuchar a Dios. 6. Tener las prioridades claras. Lo importante es servir a Dios. 7. No confundir el fin con los medios. Es decir, Dios es primero y todo en la vida se debe dirigir a él.
No es fácil todo este proceso. En nuestro mundo hay muchas complicaciones y el pensar en un compromiso de por vida es difícil. Mucha gente hace un compromiso con una persona o con una causa, pero sólo dura en lo que llega la primera dificultad. Hacer un compromiso duradero, perseverando a pesar de los obstáculos, es duro. Pero, en realidad, es lo único que merece la pena. ¿En qué otra cosa se puede emplear la vida?
C omo hispanos, no sabemos funcionar bien sin la comunidad. Es el grupo, la comunidad el que nos sostiene
y de alguna manera nos da la identidad. Esto es importante en medio de una sociedad que valora el individualismo y la iniciativa personal. Hay que encontrar un equilibrio entre fe personal y experiencia comunitaria.
FIESTA DE MARÍA: 25 DE ABRIL Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo
En un pequeño pueblo de Italia había existido una iglesia dedicada a Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo, cerca de las ruinas de un templo pagano. Con el tiempo la devoción se fue
apagando y la iglesia se deterioró. Una mujer piadosa quiso reconstruirla, pero fue tomada por loca. Pero el 25 de abril de 1467, apareció una nube sobre la iglesia a medio construir. La nube se abrió y en su centro apareció una imagen de la Virgen con el Niño Jesús. Nadie sabía de dónde venia hasta que llegaron al pueblo dos extranjeros que dijeron que le habían pedido consejo a la Virgen sobre qué hacer ante la invasión turca. La imagen ante la que oraban se había elevado y marchado hacia Italia. Entonces supieron que Ella era Nuestra Señora del Buen consejo.
