The parish is offering a memorial opportunity for the crucifix that will be hung in the new Youth Room. This crucifix was once displayed in the sanctuary of an old church and stands six feet tall. It will be hung proudly in our Youth Room to inspire the youth of the parish who utilize the Youth Room to keep their hearts, minds, and actions focused on Jesus in return for the immense love He has for us, for it is through the Cross that we achieve the Resurrection. If you would like to memorialize the Youth Room crucifix, please contact Irene at the church office 813.885.7861.

About 325 families should have received a follow-up letter about APA in this past week. You are families who participated

in APA last year but have not done so yet this year. Our goal this year is $242K. We currently have pledges for $210K. Our participation is down this year by about 50 fam-ilies as of this time compared to last . If all of you who receive the mailing give what you did last year, we would have an additional $65,000 putting us well over our goal. We know that times are very difficult and you will do the best you can. Thank you!

A LITTLE HISTORY BEHIND OUR MISSION IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

La Vega Diocese is comprised of 53 parishes. Each parish serves a great number of chapels throughout the designat-ed territory in order to bring the Word of God and the Sacraments of Our Mother Church to those who cannot at-tend to services in the parish due to distance, lack of transportation and other barriers. The population maintains the catholic traditions of processionals on the streets, among other forms of encouraging one another to praise, wor-ship and service. 82% of the local population consider themselves catholic according to the last population census. The income and social structure defines the population as lower middle class where most adults earn an income through domestic enterprise, informal markets, and small agricultural efforts. Currently the economic situation is in a recession given above mentioned earnings of our parishioners, who also dedicate themselves to informal job mar-kets where the success of their enterprise is totally dependent on the local economy at any given time. Our parish is sustained primarily from collections and mass intentions as well as the monthly stipends of a reduced number of parishioners. The public hospitals in the area do not have sufficient and appropriate services for the population’s needs. The greatest assets of our parishes are traditional catholic family values, the spirit of sharing and respect of church and family.

NEXT SUNDAY THERE WILL BE A SLIDE PRESENTATION IN ST. MICHAEL’S HALL AFTER ALL MASSES

THERE WILL BE A SALE OF FOOD & REFRESHMENTS TO BENEFIT OUR MISSION

A ltar Servers Make a Difference ! During their summer retreat, altar servers collected and packaged school supplies for Kaye Prox food bank. These school supplies were distributed to children in homeless

and needy families right here in our neighborhood. The school supplies were collected or donated by the altar servers themselves. In all, more than 30 local children started the school year with a full set of school supplies, thanks to their efforts. Way to go Altar Servers!

In a recent thank you letter, the director of Kaye Prox announced that our project had helped them set a new record of helping 197 children start school with the supplies they needed. For more information on Kaye Prox, visit www.kayeproxfoodbank.org To find out more about our Altar Server pro-gram, including how to join, visit www.icctampa.org/altarservers or contact the parish office.

This fall, from September 26 - November 4, our community will be one of the more than 170 cities in 45 states joining together for the largest and longest coordinated Pro-Life mobilization in history -- the 40 Days for Life campaign. 40 Days for Life is a focused Pro-Life effort that consists of 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil and community outreach. We are praying that with God's help, we can begin to end abortion in our city and throughout America. You can help make a life-saving impact by joining in our peaceful prayer vigil outside the

Tampa Women's Health Center on Fletcher Avenue. Our parish will be covering Tuesday, October 2 and Saturday, November 3 as part of this diocesan-sponsored effort. To register and volunteer to pray, please contact Theresa Salamone at [email protected] or 813-476-4587. You can also find additional information at www.40daysforlife.com/Tampa. Everyone is welcome to lend a peaceful, prayerful presence.

Losing a child to abortion isn’t easy...But if you give Him the bro-ken pieces, God can make all things new. H.E.A.R.T. provides recovery from preg-nancy loss due to abortion. Using a re-covery study guide, we look to God and what He promises us; healing and wholeness can return. Through a group process we will look at: realizing we need healing, acknowledg-ing the abortion – breaking the shame, forgiveness, accepting God’s grace, allowing yourself to grieve, self-reconciliation, relationships and ongo-ing healing. H.E.A.R.T. groups are being held in the Lutz/North Tampa area. Both women and men can attend. The next group will meet on Saturday mornings starting September 29th from 9:00 am – 11:30 am. Location is provided to registered partic-ipants only. For more information or to register please call Michele at (813) 323-4304 or email: [email protected] ALL CALLS ARE CONFIDENTIAL

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Incarnation Catholic Church is approaching its 50th Anniversary. The Holy Father, Pope John XXIII was quot-ed as saying, “an anniversary is not only an

opportunity to remember, it is also an obligation. We need … to recall important events that have had an impact on our lives.” As Pastor, I also feel the great importance of Incarnation’s Gold-en Anniversary. I have selected a chair and steering committee to prepare for this yearlong celebration in 2013. They are hon-ored and excited about coordinating this milestone occasion. We will kick off our celebration in April with a Nine-Day Pilgrim-age, “In the Footsteps of St. Paul.” As parishioners of Incarnation, I’m asking for your assistance in commemorating our rich history. I ask that you pray for the suc-cess of our endeavors. And I ask for your assistance in making our Golden Anniversary memorable by participating in as many of the various events as possible. Look for more information in future bulletin announcements. Currently, the steering committee is looking for photographs and stories of our past. Contact Connie Hennessey at (813) 884-8326 if you have something you wish to share. May God continue to bless our community as we enter another fifty years of parish life here at the Church of the Incarnation. Very Reverend Michael Suszynski

–©Nuestra Parroquia 2012
