Thanks to everyone who supported last weekend’s

Children’s Christmas Bazaar!

JOHN THE BAPTIST At a school open house a woman could be overheard introducing her husband to some of the other parents. “Oh, Bill, I’d like you to meet Johnny’s father. And over here, this is Marie’s mom; you know, the little girl from our El-len’s soccer team.” With satisfied resignation Bill introduced himself not by name: “I’m Ellen’s Dad.” It’s good to know who you are. Be it

someone’s father or mother, son or daughter, husband or wife, it’s important to embrace the full meaning of our various roles. John the Baptist knows who he is. And who he is not. He is not the Christ. Nor Elijah. Nor like any other prophet God’s people had ever seen. John the Baptist knows his mission is divine. He’s more than satisfied to be the one to announce the coming of God’s reign. The Christ is near. Make straight your paths. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK December 11, 2011, Third Sunday of Advent O God, who see how your people faithfully await the feast of the Lord’s Nativity, enable us, we pray, to attain the joys of so great a salvation and to celebrate them always with solemn worship and glad rejoicing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Reflection question: How am I faithfully awaiting the Lord’s Nativity? FAITH FORMATION NEWS

Congratulations to the children who received the Sacra-ment of Reconciliation for the first time this Saturday! Thank you to all the volunteer catechists, ICS teachers and staff who helped in making it a special day for them and their families. And we are very grateful to the ladies of ICCW for the beautiful reception they provided. It is our prayer that the children will continue to grow in the knowledge of the great love God has for them.

ATTENTION! ALL 6th – 12th GRADE PARENTS Faith Formation sessions for Grades 6-12 ONLY will be cancelled on Dec. 18th . Instead you and your child are invited to attend “An Incarnation Christmas – A Celebra-tion of our Families Christmas”.

“An Incarnation Christmas - – A Celebration of our families Christmas”

“An Incarnation Christmas – A Celebration of our fami-lies Christmas” our concert will begin at 5PM in the church, followed by a “Pot Luck” Dinner in St. Michael’s Hall. This year our Parish Music Ministry has been pre-paring for a wonderful Christmas Concert along with the Faith Formation Team to make this a multicultural event and a special time where all parish and school families can gather together to sing Christmas Carols, celebrate the birth of Christ, and have a pot luck supper afterwards. We invite you to dress your children as angels or shep-herds so they can participate with the narrative during the concert. REMINDER!! Confirmation Workshop 2 is this Wednesday, Dec. 14th. Sponsor Report and Community Service Selection Forms are due at this workshop. If you have not turned in a copy of your child’s Baptismal Cer-tificate this is also due at this workshop.

A.R.K. Needs Adult Volunteers!

We are looking for adult volunteers who can share their passion for Christ, love being role models, love being around teens and work side by side with the Co-peer minister to be part of the Youth ARK Adult Volunteer Core Team! Those interested please call Jane at the Faith Formation Office at 813-885-7861.

“AN INCARNATION CHRISTMAS

- A CELEBRATION OF OUR FAMILIES CHRISTMAS”

CONCERT

&

POTLUCK

WHEN: Sunday, December 18, 2011

TIME: Concert begins at 5pm, Pot luck dinner to follow

WHERE: Concert in the Church, Pot luck dinner in St. Michael’s Hall

COST: None-bring a dish you would like to share with others-something that

tells us a bit about your own Christmas traditions.

The Incarnation Parish Theatre Ministry group will join in this concert with a visual narrative of the Nativity story during the concert. We invite you to join us this night as we re-tell the Christmas story. Dress your children in your home made angel or shepherd costumes, so that they can be part of the narrative during the concert! This can be another wonderful opportunity as a parish to prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of our Lord!

Afterwards, we invite you to bring a dish that you would like to share with others, something that you feel captures the traditions of your own family Christmas meal. This will be a good time to get to know one another and share our unique family traditions that have been passed down to us. Come and join us, bring your family, bring a friend, help us to share the Spirit of the Season!

May your Advent journey be a blessing to you and your family!

Look who had a birthday on December 7th. Father Philip!

ADVENT PENANCE SERVICES We will be having three Penance Services THIS week. Monday, Dec. 12 - 7pm - Incarnation Tuesday, Dec 13 - 7pm - Christ the King Wed., Dec.14 - 7pm - St Lawrence We encourage all of our parishioners to take advantage of this opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at this peniten-tial period of Advent.

Remember your loved ones - both living and deceased at ALL Christmas Masses. List the names of your loved ones on the envelopes and place in the collection basket. There is no suggested offering; any donation will gladly be accepted.

Christmas Spiritual Bouquet Envelopes are available at the front entrance of the church and in the pews. They are also available at the Parish Office during the week. Mass Cards are available at the Religious Articles Store and the Parish Office.

“The Giving Tree in the Church Foyer” Help the less fortunate by selecting a Heifer card from the giving tree in our church foyer and leave your donation at the faith formation office or church office. Your donation can help to purchase a cow, pig, or goat for families in third world countries to improve their nutrition and generate income in a sus-tainable way. The Heifer program gives people the means to feed themselves, it refers to the animals as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its ani-mal's offspring to another family in need. It's called Passing on the Gift – a cornerstone of our mission that creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.
