In this weekends second reading, St. Paul tells us that confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord and believing in his resurrection will bring us to the ultimate goal of our lives-to enter into heaven. Every Sunday, we recite the Nicene Creed. It is another version of Pauls confession of faith. So if we say it with faith, isnt that all we need to do to get to heaven? Not exactly, remember that Jesus warns us Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven”. There is something more to this. Something has to happen inside of us as well. Something has to come into us to change us and make us become more and more worthy of the gift of eternal life. This something is Faith. Faith in Jesus sanctifies our hearts. It directs the affections of our heart towards Jesus. It moves us to say no to sin. The devils belief didnt sanctify his heart. It didnt move him to have any affection for Jesus. It made him hate Jesus all the more. Everyday this Lent, The Holy Spirit wants to move you to a deeper faith. Hopefully this faith will strengthen your love for Jesus and other people in a deeper and profound way. Love is much more than saying and believing the words I love you”. It means staying united, serving each other, working out differences and putting each other above them- selves. Confessing Jesus as Lord and believing it in your heart is much more than accepting a fact and saying it. Confessing and believing is a way of faith, it is a way of life.

Our Lenten Journey has started. Let it be a time of reflection and contemplation in our own spir-itual journey. In this weekend’s second reading, St. Paul tells us that confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord and believing in his resurrection will bring us to the ultimate goal of our lives-to enter into heaven. Every Sunday, we recite the Nicene Creed. It is another version of Paul’s confession of faith. So if we say it with faith, isn’t that all we need to do to get to heaven? Not exactly, remember that Jesus warns us “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven”. The devil’s belief didn’t sanctify his heart. It didn’t move him to have any affection for Jesus. It made him hate Jesus all the more. Everyday this Lent, The Holy Spirit wants to move you to a deeper faith. Hopefully this faith will strengthen your love for Jesus and other people in a deeper and profound way. Love is much more than saying and believing the words “I love you”. It means staying united, serving each other, working out differences and putting each other above them-selves. Dear God, During this season of Lent, we pray for Christian com-munities throughout the world, especially those who are persecuted. May they feel that they are close to Christ and may their rights be respected. We also lift up to you, all doctors and their humanitarian collaborators in war zones, who risk their lives to save the lives of oth-ers. Be close to them, dear Lord.
