Informative Illustration OBJECTIVE: Create an illustration that teaches the view how to do something. SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Learn Illustrator drawing techniques, the use of the grid as a layout tool. To utilize Illustrator as a production tools. 1. RESEARCH: Decide what process you would like to illustrate. For example: How to fly a kite, How to make an omelette, How to kick a field goal, etc. 2. DEVELOP THE CONCEPT: In your sketchbook begin to conceptualize the idea first. Make a chronological outline of all of the steps in the process. Simplify the process down to no fewer than 4 steps. These 4 steps should have clear, well written and easy to follow instructions. Now, make sketches to accompany your written instructions. 4. EXECUTION: Layout your spread in Adobe Illustrator, Full color or fewer colors may be employed and the size will be 11 ”X 8.5”Scan your sketches and render your informative illus- tration. You must include the following: Headline Subhead--Description of how/why Four steps--Written directions and illustrations for each step Captions--If necessary By-Line Consider: Be creative with this Illustration. While you are designing,take time to act out your informative process. Do this a few times until your steps/illustrations are clear.. Keep in mind your goal. Demand the attention of the reader, but remember that LESS IS MORE..
