This figure represents a radio link (blue line indicates RF cable simulating a radio link)

This figure represents a protected radio link (devices in blue indicate RF splitters)

XC Trails Guidelines

1. XC Trails can be configured only via Main unit

2 When Protection is enabled configure trails to go via the Active unit2. When Protection is enabled, configure trails to go via the Active unit(XC Trails are automatically created on the STBY unit)

1. T-Cards (TDM / SDH) are not hot-swappable, do not extract / insert card when IDU is powered upis powered up

2. Radio VCs must be identical on both sides of the radio link

3 XC Trails can be configured between:3. XC Trails can be configured between:

• Radio to Line• Line to Radio• Radio to Radio• Radio to Radio

Scenario #1 – Protected Link

Our first setup consists of 2 sites, each includes 3 IDUs:

Protection is enabled on slot #1 and slot #2

Scenario #1 – Configuration using EMSg g1. Click the Add button2. Click on the TDM connector icon

where trail is supposed to start3. Select the TDM port in the new drop-

down window4. Click on the Radio Icon5. Select the radio VC in the 2nd drop-

down windowdown window6. Set Protected to No (default)7. Set Trail ID8. Set Trail Descriptor9. Set ACM Priority to High or Low23

Remember:

T il ID t b i• Trail ID must be unique• Trail ID must be the same along the trail path• Operational = Trail is configured and available• Reserved = Trail is configured but in standby state• Apply = Configure trail and continue to next trail

Scenario #1 – Configuration using EMSg g

• When you exit the Add window, you will be taken back to the TDM Trail window

• Notice that the trail is still not complete, therefore alarms are updated accordingly

• Creating a TDM trail automatically activates the corresponding TDM port, therefore an

Scenario #1 – Configuration using EMSg g

• Continue to configure the trail on the other site

• Make sure you set the same Trail ID• Make sure you set the same Trail ID

• If your settings are correct, trail alarms should disappear, trail path is ready to be tested

Trail Configuration using CLIg g

• All the trail can be configured using CLI interface.• Ceragon has also developed a simple tool in Excel to help customer to provide remote support in trail configurations.• All the trails can be configured in the Excel sheet and then just be pasted in the CLI interface of IP-10.

Summaryy

• We configured XC trails in a simple protected link

• We configured protected XC Trails in a Ring topology

You can know use these 2 scenarios as a reference for additional cases

Always remember to review the XC Trails guidelines before you configure your setup
