1. Basic Human instinct – we all want to feel liked and
connected
2. It has a relaxed vibe, people are human
3. Viral Nature – things can be shared and liked easily
4. Power of peers – if your friends ‘like’ something you
will too
Why is it successful?

1. Create an ‘outpost’ for fans to connect (where your fans can
chat together)
2. Build your email list
3. Increase Sales
4. Increase Customer Service
5. Raise Brand Awareness

Personal V’s Business? You can have only 1 personal profile
You can actually set up a business account if you just
want a Fan Page and not a personal one
The news feed is the first place people visit when they
log on, so your personal feed is very important
News can be a combination of friends and family and
business news
But it is for personal NOT business

Privacy Settings, really important
1. You must split your friends into lists so that you only send personal stuff to your familyThis is especially important if you have infrequent users – your posts will clog up their wall, very annoying!
2. You can chose which people and applications see your information, friends only, friends of friends and everyone.
3. You can block people if they are not appropriate contacts
4. Hide your personal details – address / year of both
5. Change your password regularly
