flu with anyone connected with ISB. a fair bit of luck has been on our side but also

Red Day

On Friday 4th December, Early Years and Key Stage One children and staff came to school

dressed in red. They were celebrating 'Red Day'. Red crafts were created, songs about red things

sung, red snacks devoured and most importantly children and staff had a lot of fun. Classes also

entered a decorated door competition, where they had to create a design on their classroom

door following the red theme. At the end of the day Mr. Ismail judged that 1R had made the most

attractively decorated door and they won a special red prize. There are more theme days planned

in 2010.

Choclate factory

On Wednesday the 9th of December all the Year 1 classes went

on a visit to the Heidi Chocolate Factory.

They learned about how many kinds of chocolates there are,

that chocolate is liquid as well, before it gets solid. They also got

to taste the three different kind of chocolate. At the end of the

tour we all sang for the Chocolate Factory staff. We will never

forget this experience!

Year 3 meet the tooth fairy!

Year 3 had a fantastic trip

to Dent Estet Clinic. The

visit was related to our

Science unit " Teeth and

eating". The trip was very

constructive and the

children were excited to try

the Tooth Fairy Magic Chair! After this visit

they promised they will take good care of

their teeth and be more careful with what

they are eating.

Carol Services

The ISB choir have proved

very popular especially

after there recent television

performance. This week

they have been visiting

several embassies in

Bucharest which included the Republic of Korea,

Portugal, Royal Netherlands and Poland. One

things for sure Christmas will well and truly have

started when they heard the angelic voices of

the ISB children.

Music talent show

A musical talent show was performed last week by 30 of ISB's most talented musicians. Ms. Adina

our music teacher helped the children prepare to play various pieces of classical and popular music

which were performed on many different instruments including piano, saxophone, trumpet and violin.

The school has now set itself the target of having its own orchestra within 4 years. If the concert was

anything to go by the future looks very bright for our musical ambiitons. The show was a great

success!

The true spirit of Christmas!

For the second year running ISB organised the bringing in of gifts from our children for the children

of Special School number 9. Children were asked to

decorate show boxes at home and then fill them with gifts for

the children. There were so many brought in that with so

many wanting to give for this special cause. The shoe

boxes were just beautiful! On Tuesday 8th December

Parents from the PTA along with the school choir went to

the school to deliver the gifts. Both schools performed for

each other and the event turned into a truly magical time.

The atmosphere was joyfula nd happy! The PTA

committee would like to thank the parents and children

who contributed to this project. You truly made a

difference!

Children are the future....and ISB leads the way!

We are delighted to be able to announce that Ms Dana has just given birth to her

new baby girl, Cezara, who came into the world on Thursday 10th December

weighing in at a healthy 2.3kg. Mother and baby are both doing fine. I am sure you

would like to join the whole of the ISB staff and children in offering our warmest

congratulations to both Ms. Dana and her husband Robert.

Further to this we have more happy but ultimately sad news for the school in that Ms. Tanya our very

popular Year 1 teacher has also become pregnant. This is fantastic news but sad in that Ms. Tanya

has decided to return to the UK to have the baby so will be leaving us at the end of this term. In the

short time she has been here Ms. Tanya has made a great difference to the children in her care

both academically and socially and will be missed. Again I am sure you would like to join us in

wishing Ms Tanya and her partner Chad a healthy baby and the best of luck for the future!

The face of ISB

gets a lift

After many months of lobbying

the local authorities ISB finally

manged to have the car park

completely relaid along with a

much more car friendly road

which was also repaired. If you

haven't visited the campus in a

while be sure for a big surprise

with your car having a bigger

one. A smooth stress free drive

to school. Come on, give it a

try!!

Further to this ISB has just

invested in an all weather

inflatable arena which will be

used for sport lessons and other

events that need protecting from

the cold and wind. The arena

allows the school to have much

more flexibility and improves yet

again the quality of our facilities.

Up and Coming Clubs

This year we are offering an even more varied and interesting choice

of after school clubs for Key Stage 2 students (years 3-6). We believe

that the participation of children in such activities is very beneficial for

your child’s physical and social skills. As a school we would like as

many children to participate in as many clubs that interest them as

possible.

The clubs will start on the 12th January and continue until the 25th

March 2010. We are offering some new clubs as well as clubs that

were very popular from last year.

Regular attendance to club activities is very important for your child as

well as other students in the club. Therefore, once you register your

child, please make sure that they attend every week to get the full

benefit.

The clubs will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from

15:15 until 16:15. Please be punctual to pick your child from the pickup

point at the ground floor of the primary school entrance. If you would

like your child to be brought by school bus, please contact directly the

transport company.

There are limited spaces for all clubs, so places will be allocated on a

first come first served basis.

Children staying for clubs get hungry after a long day at school.

Therefore, we ask you to prepare a sandwich for your child on the day/

s of their clubs.

The deadline for registering for clubs this term is Friday, 18 December

2009.

For details of the clubs, please refer to the club handbook which has

been given to your child.

Football Cllub

Recently our two football teams took part in a friendly match at the Brit-

ish School of Bucharest, after weeks of intensive training by Mr Alex, Mr

Hay, Mr Morrison and Ms Laura. We looked fantastic in our new football

strips but sadly the results didn’t look as great as our tops. The Year 5/6

team bravely went down 1-0 in a result several people in attendance

called an “upset” and our new look Year 3/4 team lost 4-0. Both manag-

ers and parents were happy with their teams’ performance and are looking forward to future games

with optimism. Football club will be running again next term and we look forward to the continued

support the parents have shown us so far.
