ITIME®I

"The best relatively cheap university you've never heard of "

- TIME Magazine

Now is an opportune time to become a qualified, credentialed

nurse educator or administrator. Registered nurses (RNs) are expected to enjoy the second largest increase in new jobs among all occupations in the United States in the next decade. This is due to an increasing and aging population, as well as a need to replace a rising number of experienced nurses who are retiring from the occupation. This presents an excellent growth opportunity for nurses who are looking to take the leap into education or management.

At WGU, our mission is to provide you with an RN to MSN option that will allow you to further your education and achieve your career goals without rearranging your life or compromising your current position. You'll be readily equipped with the knowledge and skills you need to move your career into management, administration, or nursing education.

How the Program Works As a student, you'll benefit from both superior programs and lower tuition. You'll also benefit

Affordable Tuition and Fees ( as of March 1, 2010)

Basic tuition: $3,250 per 6-month term* Estimated time to completion: 4 years

Consolidated Nursing Fee: $350 (one-time) Library Fee: $45 per 6-month term* Application Fee: 65 (one-time)

* Terms are six months in length and can begin on the first of any month.

from WGU's unique competency-based approach to education. Unlike traditional colleges and even other online universities, at WGU your progress is based on demonstrating your skills and knowledge (competence) in a particular subject area (as opposed to accumulating credit hours).

Here's how it works: • Your degree requirements are carefully

developed to give you high-level competence in nursing education or administration subject areas.

• You will work with an assigned mentor to prepare for and complete rigorous assessments ( tests, papers, assignments) which will require you to demonstrate your competence in each subject area.

• With your mentor, you will prepare your personalized Academic Action Plan (AAP) which establishes the pace at which you prepare for and tackle the required assessments in your course of study.

• You will be able to leverage your prior experience and education to complete the requirements of your degree faster ( and for less money).

You pay for the time, not the credits. Tuition is charged at a flat rate every six months and covers all coursework attempted in that time. A full-time load for this program is at least 12 competency units (credit equivalents) per term during the undergraduate portion of study, and 8 CUs per term during the graduate portion of study. Individual progress may vary. Federal financial aid, including Pell Grants, is available for eligible individuals.

Note: The competency-based programs at WGU are approved for tuition assistance for active-duty military personnel.
