Gathering Song: Canticle of the Sun (Marty Haugen)Refrain: The heavens are telling the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy! Come, dance in the forest, come, play in the field, and sing, sing to the glory of the Lord! 1. Praise for the sun, the bringer of day, he carries the light of the Lord in his rays; the moon and the stars who light up the way unto your throne! (Ref.) 2. Praise for the wind that blows through the trees, the seas’ mighty storms, the gentlest breeze; they blow where they will, they blow where they please to please the Lord! (Ref.) 3. Praise for the rain that waters our fields, and blesses our crops so all the earth yields; from death unto life her mystery revealed springs forth in joy! (Ref.) 4. Praise for the fire who gives us his light, the warmth of the sun to brighten our night; he dances with joy, his spirit so bright, he sings of you! (Ref.)

Collect

Liturgy of the Word First Reading: Isaiah 61:1-3a (Chamorro) Dr. James U. Hofschneider The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, release to the prisoners, To announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God; To comfort all who mourn; to place on those who mourn in Zion a diadem instead of ashes, To give them oil of gladness instead of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a faint spirit. They will be called oaks of justice, the planting of the LORD to show his glory.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 110 (Chanted) Jacklyn M. Garote (Sung) You are a Priest Forever in the Line of Melchizedek

The Order of MassInTRoDUCToRY RITeS

Page 5: James balajadia's priestly ordination

1. The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool” 2. The scepter of your power the Lord will stretch forth from Zion, Rule in the midst of your enemies” 3. Yours is princely power in the day of your birth, in holy splendor, Before the daystar like the dew I have begotten you” 4. The Lord has sworn and he will not repent, “You are a priest forever, According to the order of Melchizedek”

Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:14-20 (Carolinian) Victoria Iginoef For the love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the conviction that one died for all; therefore, all have died. He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. Consequently, from now on we regard no one according to the flesh; even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer. So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to him self through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, God was recociling the world to himself in Christ, not counting their trespasses against them and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Holy Gospel: John 20:19-23 Deacon Steve Martinez Alleluia (Sung - Celtic)

Homily: Archbishop Martin Krebs, D.D.

Promise of the elect The Elect, in the presence of the Archbishop and all the faithful, expresses his resolve to carry out theofficeofthePriesthoodinaccordwiththemindofChristandoftheChurch, underthe direction of the Bishop.

Archbishop: Dear son, before you enter the Order of the Priesthood, you must declare before the people your intention to undertake this office. Do you resolve, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to discharge without fail the office of Priesthood in the presbyteral rank, as worthy fellow workers with the Order of Bishops in caring for the Lord’s flock?

elect: I do.

Archbishop: Do you resolve to exercise the ministry of the word worthily and wisely, preaching the Gospel and teaching the Catholic Faith?

elect: I do.

Page 7: James balajadia's priestly ordination

Archbishop: Do you resolve to celebrate faithfully and reverently, in accord with the Church’s tradition, the mysteries of Christ, especially the Sacrifice of the Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation, for the glory of God and the sanctification of the Christian People?

elect: I do.

Archbishop: Do you resolve to implore with us God’s mercy upon the people entrusted to your care by observing the command to pray without ceasing?

elect: I do.

Archbishop: Do you resolve to be united more closely every day to Christ the High Priest, who offered himself for us to the Father as a pure Sacrifice, and with him to consecrate yourself for the salvation of all?

elect: I do, with the help of God.

The Elect goes to the Archbishop, and kneeling before him, places his joined hands between those of the Archbishop and makes a promise of obedience.

Archbishop: Do you promise respect and obedience to your Ordinary?

elect: I do.

Archbishop: May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to fulfillment.

Litany of Supplication

Archbishop: My dear people, let us pray that God the all-powerful Father will pour out abundantly the gifts of heaven in this, his servant, whom he has chosen for the office of Priest.

Rev. Fr. Isaac M. Ayuyu (Please Kneel) The Church on earth joins with the Saints in heaven to beseech God on behalf of the Elect, to make him worthy and to strengthen him by his Grace. The Elect prostrates himself in a gesture of supplication remembering that service to God and his Holy People requires genuine humility in the example of Christ.

Page 8: James balajadia's priestly ordination

The cantor then begin the litany. After the singing the litany, the Archbishop standing with hands outstretched, sings or says:

Archbishop: Hear us, we beseech you, Lord our God, And pour out on this servant of yours the blessing of the Holy Spirit and the power of priestly grace, that this man, whom in the sight of your mercy we offer to be consecrated, may be surrounded by your rich and unfailing gifts. Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Rev. Fr. Isaac M. Ayuyu: Let us stand.

Laying on of Hands & Prayer of ordination In this most ancient part of the Rite, the Archbishop follows the form of the Apostles in laying his hands upon the Elect. It is by this act and the prayer of Ordination that our brother, is ordained by God as priest forever.

Then all stand. The candidate goes to the Archbishop and kneels before him. The Archbishop lays his hands on the candidate’s head, in silence. Next all the priests present, wearing stoles, lay their hands upon the candidate, in silence. After the laying on of hands, the priests remain on either side of the Archbishop until the prayer of consecration is completed.

Asymbolofhispriestlyofficeitrecallstheministrywhichhenowsharesofteaching, governing andsanctifyingtheflockentrustedtohiscare, inunionwiththeBishopconforminghimselfto Christ the High Priest. The Chasuble, always worn over the stole is typically the most ornate vesture of the priest and bishop. It is therefore a symbol of immense charity as Saint Paul says: “Above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfection” Col. 3:14. The chasuble also symbolizes the yoke of Christ, who himself says: “My yoke is sweet and my burden light” Mt. 11:30.

Vesting: Rev. Fr. James Salas Balajadia is assisted by: Rev. Fr. James Herrera Monsignor James Benavente Rev. Fr. Isaac M. AyuyuAnointing of Hands The hands of the newly ordained priest are anointed with the oil of Sacred Chrism. This perfumed oil, which is used to consecrate the Altar and walls of a new church, is most frequently used to anointchildrenwhoarebaptizedandthosewhoreceivethesacramentofConfirmation.

The Archbishop anoints with holy chrism the palms of the newly ordained priest as he kneels before him.

Page 9: James balajadia's priestly ordination

The Archbishop anoints the hands of the Priest in order that he be consecrated to sanctify the people of God, for it is from his hands that the people receive the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist.

Archbishop: The Lord Jesus Christ, whom the Father anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, guard and preserve you that you may sanctify the Christian people and offer sacrifice to God.

Then, the Archbishop and the newly ordained wash their hands.

Handing over of the Bread and Wine: Paten: elizabeth S. Balajadia Chalice: Victor A. Balajadia

The paten, holding the bread and a chalice containing the wine mixed with water for the celebration of Holy Mass, is presented to the newly ordained by the Archbishop. This gesture, although simple in its expression, is accompanied by profound words that impress upon the newly ordained the essential nature of Priestly service.

Archbishop: Receive the oblation of the holy people to be offered to God. Understand what you do, imitate what you celebrate, and conform your life to the mystery of the Lord’s cross

Fraternal Kiss of Peace

Archbishop: Peace be with you

newly ordained: And also with you with your spirit.

The Archbishop, as well as all the priests present, offer the newly ordained the fraternal kiss of peace.

Liturgy of the EucharistThe Liturgy of the Eucharist is concelebrated in the usual way. However, the preparation of the chalice is omitted.
