The second group of 15 participants for the Country Focused Training for the project “Community Entrepreneurial Capacity and Rural Enterprise Development training program” attended the training course in Japan and Thailand from 25 June to 23 July 1015. In Japan they learnt about the Concept of Community Capacity Development for Local Economic Development(OVOP). After the course in Japan, the group moved to Thailand to understand the Concept and attended the Ministerial Integration scheme of One Tambon One Product (OTOP) Implementation Framework in Thailand. The participants are expected to use their knowledge and skills to develop regional programs for the promotion of small scale rural business enterprises. The Department of Cottage and Small Industries is the implementing agency for the project and participants comprised of central government, local government, business development service providers and community enterprises/groups. The Ministry of Agriculture & Forests the mission for detailed planning survey on IHPP signed the Minutes of Meeting on July 14 at Thimphu From 28 June to 15 July, 2015 JICA dispatched a detailed planning survey team headed by Mr. Masahiro Tawa, Deputy Director General of Agriculture and Rural Development for the Technical Cooperation project on Integrated Horticulture promotion for the west & central region. The main purpose of the mission was: (1) to collect the detailed information related to the framework of the project (2) to discuss on the concrete framework of the project, including each component of the PDM and Plan of Operation (3) to sign the MoM including the draft R/D (4) to conduct the preliminary evaluation from the 5 evaluation criteria.

On 7th July, 2015, we received five new volunteers, consisting of two Senior Volunteer (SV) and three JOCVs. They are here for two years and will be working at Phuentsholing Thromde as a waste management advisor, National Land Commission as GIS officer, and with the Ministry of Education in various schools in Trashigang - as a HPE teacher each in Trashigang MSS and Rangjung LSS and one at Khaling LSS as Special Needs & HPE teacher .

They have completed one month in-country training program (Cultural Orientation, Dzongkha Language class and Home stay) in Thimphu and will be dispatched to their work stations.

On 1st July, 2015, Mr. Tenzin joined JICA Bhutan office as a program officer under the Volunteer Programe.

He holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Bangkok University International College,Thailand. Prior to joining JICA Bhutan office, he served as a marketing officer for the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Co-operatives (DAMC) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Forests (MoAF).

Mr. Tenzin demonstrates a highly positive attitude towards learning and contributing to JICA in its development efforts. We welcome him to the JICA family & look forward to working with him.
