Dear Brothers and Sisters: I can still remember as a boy walk-ing into the kitchen of our family home-stead where my mother was washing dish-es and talking at the same time. I would ask, “Mom there is no one here, are you talking to yourself?” “No,” she replied, “I’m talking to God.” So often I wondered how she was able to maintain a home, raise six of us children and juggle so many activities in our parish and elsewhere. She made it seem so effortless. It was only lat-er in life that I realized it was because of her strong prayer life. Think of Jesus in today’s Gospel. St. Mark shows him to be “absorbed in prayer.” Have you ever been “absorbed in prayer?” This means that all noises and distractions are cancelled out, so intent is our concentration and communication with God. We no doubt have been ab-sorbed in movies, books or ballgames – but what about prayer? Have you ever wondered how, humanly speaking, Jesus had the energy to tend to so many in their needs? Once he commented that he had a food that his disciples were not aware of. He was referring to the deep well of com-munication with his Father in prayer. No wonder they asked him to teach them to pray as he did. That’s when he gave us the “Our Father.” It would be wonderful if we could make the same request. The Church sincerely hopes that this Sunday’s liturgy has uplifted your spirit this day and throughout the coming week. Certainly the moments we feel like Job would improve if we could, like Jesus, end one day in contented sleep and begin the next absorbed in prayer.

Love and Prayers, Bro. John

Notas del Pastor

Queridos hermanos,

Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal This year’s Appeal, Sharing God’s Blessings is a perfect oppor-tunity for us to reflect on God’s generosity to us and to share the blessings we have been given with those around us. This year, our parish goals are as follows:

Parish Goal 2015: $199,451 This year’s Annual Appeal will continue to support the many good works of the ministries throughout the Archdiocese. This year’s Appeal will continue to support the many good works of the ministries throughout the Archdiocese. We are often re-minded by our Holy Father Pope Francis and sacred scripture that in order to love one another we must share the blessings which God has provided to us. We are called to similarly share what is granted to us by God and return it to Him so that not one of our brothers and sisters goes without; without the gift of faith, without the essential human needs, and without a personal relationship with Our Lord.

The Annual Appeal provides the poor with food, shelter and clothing; makes religious education, spiritual guidance and CYO programs available for the young; insures the future lead-ership of the Church with seminarian education and training; and most important, brings Christ’s Good News to the people of the Archdiocese. Our parish also benefits by receiving a re-bate from the appeal if it exceeds its goal. Thousands of people in the four counties served by the Archdio-cese of Newark are assisted each year through various programs and ministries funded by the Appeal. Our parish also benefits by receiving a rebate from the appeal if it exceeds its goal. Please be sure to watch this year’s Annual Appeal video online at www.rcan.org/sharing to see firsthand the impact that YOUR gift makes.

tempestades, etc.)

Continuaremos con mas….
