The Grand Foundation is a community-based, independent not-for-profit organization, formerly known as the Arts Leadership Alliance (ALA).

The original ALA was founded in 1998 to promote the cultural development of the community. Its activities on behalf of the city include developing and implementing programs which foster the broadest possible public use of the cultural arts programs at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.

The Grand Foundation has served to advance technical support and programming of the Grand with annual underwriting contributions since opening in 2007. Foundation underwriting has supported concerts, exhibitions, classes, workshops and special events, in addition to providing art supplies, technical support and hospitality services.

MUSIC TOGETHER RHYTHM KIDSRhythm Kids is an exciting music, movement and drumming class for children in kindergarten through second grade. Rhythm Kids classes lay the foundation for basic music literacy, complementing in-school music instruction or instrument lessons and leading to a lifetime of joyful music making. The curriculum includes solos and ensembles, folk dances, harmony singing, vocal development and drumming. In a safe and fun environment, your child can experiment with new activities like game songs, story songs, conducting, improvisation and composition.

Students will learn multicultural drumming patterns, develop new repertoire on various percussion instruments, explore movement and dance while singing songs, play games based on music and drumming and have fun with a host of rhythm activities.

As part of the Rhythm Kids experience, children and their grownups can enjoy drumming — play and practice sessions — at home with the help of online play-along videos featuring Rhythm Kids creator Tom Foote.

Instructors: Jody Harcourt, MT Tracy LLCLocation: Dance StudioNote: Students purchase their own hand drum (djembe) for use at home and in class. Music Together of Tracy will provide discounted sources for approximately $50. Siblings can attend the same class for a sibling fee of $145.No class: 1/21, 2/18, 5/27
