Proposal of site visits(to be defined depending on the profiles of the participants)
The housing company Karlskronahem - www.karlskronahem.se/projekt/energi
The housing company Karlskronahem has eliminated oil from its heating systems by installing a number of different types of heat-pumps in innovative ways. Theair in the ventilation is recycled through the system for heat recovery. The company has also installed solar panels for electricity production in order to becomemore self sufficient in terms of energy.
Filborna Combined Heat- and Power Plant - www.alstom.com/press-centre/2013/3/the-filborna-power-plant-europes-most-modern-waste-fired-combined-power-and-heating-plant-is-inaugurated
The Filborna waste-to-energy plant is run by Helsingborg’s wholly owned energy company, Öresundskraft. It is one of Europe’s most modern waste-firedcombined power and heating plant. Commissioned in 2013, the plant incinerates a total 160,000 tonnes of waste (RDF) per year in its 70 MW boiler, producingsteam for district heating and electricity. The plant boiler features an advanced combustion control system and water-cooled combustion grate, distinguished byits reliability and suitability for Refuse-derived Fuel.
Sysav – Waste to resources in southern Sweden - www.sysav.se/In-English1/Sysavs-facilities/The-Waste-to-Energy-plant/
Sysav (South Scania Waste Company) and Sysav Industri AB receives, recycles and treats waste from households and businesses in southern Skåne. Sysav is aleading company in the waste industry and contributes actively to a sustainable future by treating waste in accordance with its specific properties while turning itinto useful resources.
The Ecological City of Tomorrow in the Western Harbour, Malmö - http://malmo.com/placesofinterest/westharbour
This “city within a city” has its own systems for managing its energy supply and waste treatment and is seen as a successful transformation of a previously decaying industrial area into an exciting and sustainable urban environment . Car traffic in the area has been minimized as an environmentally friendly approach to urban planning and mobility. There are also green roofs on a significant number of buildings and extensive rain-water run-off systems.
Villa Åkarp - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoRKb1OtYlY
1st plus energy house in Sweden. The house generates more than one-and-a-half times as much electricity as it uses.
Väla Gård, Modern offices in a historic environment - http://group.skanska.com/projects/57810/Vala-Gard
Väla Gård is Skanska’s largest green project to date and the aim is for the office building to be a zero-energy or energy-plus building. Measured over one year, the building should produce at least as much energy as it consumes for heating, cooling and building utilities. The environment has been at the core of every decision – from project planning to moving in. As a consequence, the building will be certified under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) at the highest level, LEED Platinum.

Proposal of site visits(to be defined depending on the profiles of the participants)
EnergyLab Nordhavn - http://www.energylabnordhavn.dk/
Over the next four years the project EnergyLab Nordhavn – New Urban Energy Infrastructures will develop and demonstrate futureenergy solutions. The project utilizes Copenhagen’s Nordhavn as a full-scale smart city energy lab and demonstrates how electricityand heating, energy-efficient buildings and electric transport can be integrated into an intelligent, flexible and optimized energysystem. he project participants are: DTU, City of Copenhagen, CPH City & Port Development, HOFOR, Radius, ABB, Danfoss, Balslev,CleanCharge, Glen Dimplex, METRO THERM and the PowerLabDK facilities. The project is supported by EUDP (Energy TechnologyDevelopment and Demonstration Programme).
The Avedøre Power Station - http://www.dongenergy.com/en/The Avedøre Power Station (Danish: Avedøreværket) is a combined heat and power station, located in Avedøre, Denmark, just southof Copenhagen, and is owned by DONG Energy A/S. Avedøre Power Plant is a high-technology facility and one of the world's mostefficient of its kind, being able to utilize as much as 94% of the energy in the fuel and convert 49% of the fuel energy into electricity.Apart from using coal, petroleum (oil) and natural gas, the plant runs on a wide variety of biomass fuels such as straw and woodpellets. The plant consists of two units with a total capacity of 793 MW of electricity and 918 MW of heat.
The Middelgrunden offshore wind farm - http://www.dongenergy.com/en/
Middelgrunden is an offshore wind farm in the Øresund 3.5 km outside Copenhagen, Denmark. When it was built in 2000, it was theworld's largest offshore farm, with 20 turbines (2 MW Bonus each) and a capacity of 40 MW. The farm delivers about 4% of the powerfor Copenhagen. This project is an example for community wind energy. It is 50% owned by the 10,000 investors in the MiddelgrundenWind Turbine Cooperative, and 50% by the municipal utility company.[3] Being clearly visible from the capital of Denmark it states theimportance of wind power in Denmark.
