LESSON A Reading from the letter to the Colossians (3:12-17)
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. WELCOME The Rev. John A. Mennell

PLANNED GIVING Harry Mayo – Chair of St. Luke’s Planned Giving Campaign Planned giving encompasses a variety of ways that gifts can be made to the church. It usually involves financial or estate planning; however, it is not reserved for the wealthy. Planned giving is a means by which anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources makes a considered choice about their ultimate disposition. In general planned gifts are made through:
• A Bequest in a Will • A Life Income Gift such as a pooled income fund, a charitable gift annuity, or a
charitable remainder trust • Gifts of Special Assets (real estate, closely held stock, life insurance, retirement
accounts) Planned giving establishes a way for a donor to provide for family members while remembering the church as well. It often enables the donor to provide more for his or her heirs and to make a larger gift than thought possible. It often reduces taxes as well. Planned gifts can be designated for an organization’s general funds or its endowment. Planned gifts are either outright gifts (i.e., gifts of appreciated securities, real property, personal property, etc.) or deferred gifts (i.e. bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts). Planned Giving FAQ I already make an annual pledge. Should I consider giving more to St. Luke’s? Your annual pledge is used to fund current programs of mission, ministry, and outreach. It is generally expended in the year in which it is received. A planned gift upon your death, or during your lifetime to remember a family member or a lost loved one, will provide a lasting measure of support for St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
What would happen to the fund i f St . Luke’s Church ever ceased to exis t? In the unlikely event that St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is dissolved or disbanded, distributions from the fund would be used to aid other Episcopal churches in our community or region.
When are dis tr ibut ions made and in what amounts? Distributions are made at the time and in amounts determined by the vestry. However, distributions are limited from the Foundation Fund. In this way gifts to the fund are never depleted and the fund continues to grow as new gifts are received.
Is there a minimum gi f t to the Foundation? No. Gifts of any amount to any of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s established funds are always appreciated.

PSALM 98 Sing a new song to God, *
who has done marvelous things. With your right hand, O God, and your holy arm, *
you have won for yourself the victory.
You have made known your victory; * your righteousness have you openly shown in the sight of the nations.
You remember your mercy and faithfulness to the house of Israel, * and all the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
Shout with joy to God, all you lands; * lift up your voice, rejoice, and sing.
Sing to God with the harp, * with the harp and the voice of song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn, * shout with joy before God who reigns in majesty.
Let the sea make a noise and all that is in it, * the lands and those who dwell therein.
Let the rivers clap their hands, * and let the hills ring out with joy before God, who will come to judge the earth.
God shall judge the world in righteousness * and the peoples with equity.
18
PSALM 100 May all lands be joyful before you, O God, *
serve with gladness and come before your presence with a song.
For we know that you are God; * you yourself have made us, and we are yours; we are your people and the sheep of your pasture.
We shall enter your gates with thanksgiving, go into your courts with praise, *
give thanks to you and call upon your Name.
For you are good; your mercy is everlasting; *
and your faithfulness endures from age to age.

HYMN 120 There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place (Lift Every Voice and Sing Composer: Doris Akers)
There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord There are sweet expressions on each face And I know they feel the presence of the Lord
Refrain Sweet Holy Spirit Sweet heavenly dove Stay right here with us Filling us with Your love
And for these blessings We lift our hearts in praise Without a doubt we’ll know That we’ll have been revived When we shall leave this place
There are blessings you cannot receive Till you know Him in His fullness and believe. You’re the one to profit when you say, “I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.”
Refrain
If you say He saved you from your sin, Now you’re weak, you’re bound, and cannot enter in, you can make it right if you will yield; You’ll enjoy the Holy Spirit that we feel.
Refrain
