The Sterling Municipal Band has expanded its Weds., concert performances at the Grandon Civic Center, to include pre-concert performances by local musical groups. Our concerts begin June 5th-August 7th.The pre-concert performance starts at 6:20 PM and play until 7:10 PM, then a break, followed by the municipal band at 7:30 PM. One of the groups scheduled to play is a favorite of the local Latino community, the Mariachi Campiranos. Their performance date is June 12th. We invite everyone to attend all of our free concerts where good music, food, non-alcoholic beverages, and desserts are to be found. Domingo de la Ascensión de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo a

los Cielos 2 de Junio 2019

�¿Qué significa para nosotros la Ascensión de Jesús al cielo? Ciertamente que es un acto de amor de Jesús y una responsabilidad enorme porque nos ha querido enviar al Espíritu Santo, quién nos conducirá hacia la verdad y la verdad es Dios Padre, quien obviamente nos hará libres. El Día de la Ascensión es una solemnidad cristiana que se celebra cuarenta días después del domingo de resurrección (durante el Tiempo pascual) y que conmemora la ascensión de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo al cielo en presencia de sus discípulos tras anunciarles que les enviaría el Espíritu Santo. La doctrina cristiana sostiene comúnmente que Cristo ascendió en forma física al Cielo tras su Resurrección en presencia de sus Apóstoles. Se entiende por "ascender al cielo" una unión física con Dios Padre, es decir, asciende en Cuerpo y alma con su Padre, nuestro Padre Dios y no una transformación espiritual del individuo como es habitual en las experiencias místicas de otras religiones. Con nosotros sucederá diferente, porque Jesús siendo Dios no conoció la corrupción de la carne y por ende del pecado, sino que ha ascendido al Padre en Gloria, sin conocer la corrupción del Cuerpo físico que se descompone una vez puesto en el sepulcro. Este aspecto del misterio pascual se relaciona con la importancia dada por la teología cristiana a la corporeidad, que la Palabra de Dios asumió en la Encarnación, que es glorificada en la Ascensión de Cristo a la derecha de Dios Padre y que los muertos recobrarán, de alguna manera, en la Resurrección del fin de los tiempos. Demos gracias a Dios Padre eterno por habernos dejado a su Hijo para salvarnos, y al Espíritu Santo para santificarnos y llevarnos con Él a su reino celestial.
