The Women’s Leadership Council offers a wide range of opportunities to get in-volved. When it comes to WLC events, there is something for everyone.

Agency Tours Experience the world through the eyes of those served by the Tulsa Area United Way’s 61 partner agencies. Each agency and individual has a unique story of hope. Tours only take an hour out of your day, and there are opportunities to participate each month.

Networking EventsThese quarterly events are opportunities to meet other community-minded women and make fresh contacts. WLC networking events are fun and casual in atmosphere, but will challenge you to enhance and grow your networking skills.

Fall ReceptionAs the seasons change, you can renew your commitment to leadership in our community at the WLC Fall Reception. WLC members and prospective members alike will enjoy attending this annual event. Members can reconnect with friends and colleagues; while future members learn more about what the WLC offers. Speaker topics, discussions, and workshops at this event center around a key issue relevant to women in our community each year. We’ll

highlight one of our partner agencies and you can stretch your philanthropic mus-cles by bringing specific items to donate or signing up to fill a volunteer need.

Annual SummitEach spring you will be invited to attend the WLC Annual Summit. This half day conference brings together all the bene-fits of WLC membership. Hear from WLC leadership on the successes of the previ-ous year and plans for the new year. Learn from experts on topics of interest to you and take time to discuss with your peers community issues and how they can be addressed.

Connecting Circle SeriesThe WLC is sponsoring a series of events hosted by our community’s top business leaders, volunteers and WLC members. These gatherings will be presented throughout the year in small personal settings of 6 to 12 women at the home of the presenting hostess. At each circle attendees can look forward to an engaging topic, mentoring advice and leadership development. The objective of this series is to provide women who currently hold membership at the Leadership Level (donors of $500 or more annually) with opportunities to further develop their leadership skills.

New Member OrientationNew members and members who are looking to get more involved can attend one of the New Member Orientations held throughout the year to learn about the ways WLC can benefit them.

WLC Day of Caring ProjectWLC members are encouraged to take part in Day of Caring projects offered through their place of employment. But if that isn’t an option, the Women’s Leadership Council schedules a volunteer project on the Day of Caring as an alternate opportunity for members.

Advocacy EventsThere are many issues in our society that affect women and deserve more attention. Periodically the WLC holds an event to highlight one of these issues and discuss its impact on a local level. Past advocacy events have included viewings of the doc-umentaries “Girl Rising” and “Miss Repre-sentation” and corresponding discussion panels.

Your Opportunity to ServeMembership in the Women’s Leadership Council will provide you with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. Ongoing volun-teer assignments include:

• reading tochildrenatearlychildhoodcenters and elementary schools

• mentoring opportunities with gradu-ates of the Family & Children’s Ser-vices Women in Recovery program

•specificprojectsduringtheTulsaAreaUnited Way Day of Caring

•participationintheSalvationArmyAn-gel Tree program during the holidays

•OthervolunteerneedswithUnitedWaypartner agencies are discussed during regularly-scheduled agency tours and agency highlights at WLC events.
