KRMCA Membership,
Serving as the president of the Kentucky Ready Mixed Concrete Association is a great privi-
lege and I want to thank each member for allowing me to represent you this year. This asso-
ciation has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories date
back to the days when the association was working out of a match box sized office in down-
town Frankfort. The Association was paying $100 in rent for that space, uncertain if it
would even exist in the years to come. I’ve seen this association grow and prosper since that
point, making Kentucky one of the top associations in the US year after year, eventually
putting itself in position to be able to pay for its current building in cash. Jim and Diana
Deters, along with John McChord, made this association great and created a legacy in which
we all should be proud. We are fortunate enough to have our current staff working just as
diligently today to advance our industry. I want to thank Finley, Greg, Brett, John and Su-
san for all the hard work they put in to make sure our association stays as one of the best in
the country.
There is no denying that we have a great organization. Fortunately for us, the product that
we all make a living around is just as impressive as the organization that represents it. What
other product in the world is so versatile? Sometimes it is almost overwhelming trying to
promote all of its applications and advantages, to all the people who could benefit from its
usage. From Decorative to RCC, whitetopping to ICF’s, flowable fill to tilt-up walls;
through these many usages our product is the most consumed substance on earth behind
water. Every member doesn’t have the same priorities when it comes to what applications
are most important, but I challenge everybody to find a way to promote our industry and get
involved in the way that best fits you.
I know that manpower is becoming increasingly in short supply and sometimes it’s hard to
find the time, but we must not lose focus on what makes our industry and association so
great. If we all make a little bit of time to promote today, we will reap the benefits of our
efforts for years to come. There are many second and third generation members that are
now part of our association, just think where you would be today if our fathers and grandfa-
thers hadn’t worked so hard to advance our industry?

PURPOSE OF KRMCA COMMITTEES Convention Committee The purpose of the Convention Committee is to: Plan and coordinate the program of events of the annual convention; Prepare a program of interest to the membership at the annual convention; and obtain outstanding speakers to provide the membership with information and new ideas in technical advances in various phases of the industry. Also plan, sell, booths for KRMCA Trade Show (every third year). Environmental Control and Safety Committee The purpose of the Environmental Control and Safety Committee is to: Work with governmental agencies so that the Association will be consulted before any governmental regulations concerning air, water or noise pollution are modified or changed, which will affect the ready-mixed concrete industry in the areas of environmental quality and control. Act as a liaison between governmental agencies and the ready-mixed concrete industry in the areas of environmental quality and control. Executive Committee The Officers and such other Directors appointed by the President shall serve as an Executive Com-mittee and be authorized to conduct the affairs of the Association between sessions of the Board of Directors. The President and Vice President are members ex officio of all committees. Finance Committee The purpose of the Finance Committee is to: Prepare and recommend a budget; and to assist in providing equitable methods of collecting dues. Insurance Committee To deal with all types of insurance matters. Legislative Committee To follow all legislation that has an effect on the concrete industry, and to propose legislation as needed to benefit the ready mix industry. Membership Committee The Purpose of the Membership Committee is to develop the membership of the Association, both as to producer members and associate members and to secure new members for the Association. Promotion Committee The purpose of the Promotion Committee is to plan and coordinate the promotion of ready-mixed concrete in Kentucky. Work with regional promotion committees and support their activities. Quality & Specification Committee The purpose of the Quality & Specifications Committee is to: Study methods, gather data, and promote techniques for a better quality of ready-mixed concrete; plan and coordinate the associa-tion's pre-certification school and work with the Department of Transportation and other specify-ing agencies developing concrete specifications.
