• Papers Presented by Staff:
§ Paper on “Empirical Evaluation of Attack Graph used for Network Security”
Mrs.N.R.Patil (Head of Information Technology) presented a paper on “Empirical Evaluation
of Attack Graph used for Network Security in the conference organized by K.L University,
Andhra Pradesh on 8th and 9th February 2013.
Abstract of paper: Attack graph progressively plays a vital role in network security. It shows
attainable ways of actions consisting of the network vulnerability exploits which will cause
security breaches. As a result of most attack graphs are terribly giant and sophisticated, a lot of
analysis has centered on these graphs may be mechanically and expeditiously generated.
However, very little has been done on the attack graph analysis, specifically we will use an
attack graph for better protection measure in the network. These projected approaches are
general and on paper grounded. The paper describes the approaches in details. We show the
ensuing analysis will facilitate derive several helpful selections. As an example, it will assist a
security administrator in choosing most cost-efficient countermeasures, supported his preference
criteria, to enhance the protection flaws found within the attack graph. For quality, we have a
tendency to illustrate our approach by presenting a study of a straightforward and tiny however
realistic case situation.
§ Paper on “An Overview of Android Security”
Mrs.M.P.Nawarkar (Lecturer) and Ms.M.D.Patil (Lecturer) presented a paper on ‘An Overview
of Android Security’ in the conference organized by the SNJB’s College of Engineering,
Chandwad on 24th February 2013.
Abstract of paper: Smartphones are ruling the mobile market today and the most widely used
operating system for them is Android. It is an open source operating system designed to be used
with the mobile devices. Being an open platform system, it is easy to expand. Also, the
increased computational power of the smart phones vested interest among the developers for
developing variety of applications. These features however increased the risks associated with
security aspects of the system. In this paper, we take an overview of the framework of android
from the security perspective. Various security mechanisms such as application permissions,
component encapsulation and signing applications provided by the android are discussed. Also,
the various threat scenarios with possible countermeasures are explored to get a glance about the
various vulnerabilities and attacks in android.
