The City of Haines City Leisure Services Department is

dedicated to creating a better community through people, parks,

and programs. It is our goal to provide services that positively

impact the social, economic, health and environmental quality of

our community.

Our vision is dedicated to developing and maintaining

beautiful, safe and environmentally friendly open spaces for the

public to use and enjoy. We strive to provide comprehensive, quality

and safe recreation and parks programs, facilities and services.

Our mission is to acquire, develop, operate, and maintain a parks

and recreation system which enriches the quality of life for its

residents and visitors alike, and preserve it for future generations.

The Leisure Services Department will continue to advance our

services and program offerings but our core values will remain the

same. We will continue to strive to build a sense of community,

enrich people’s lives, and contribute to the total development of fam-

ilies and the City of Haines City.

Reservation Information

Applications for reservation of any building must be completed and submitted at least fourteen (14) days prior to the event. Such applications are available at the Haines City

Community Center. All applications are subject to review. Any person or group wishing to use the pools or any athletic facility should contact Haines City Leisure Services at 863-421-3700.

The Lake Eva banquet Hall is located in the Heart of Central Florida, overlooking

beautiful Lake Eva and Haines City’s exciting newly renovated Lake Eva Park.

weddings and parties to meetings and conventions. The facility’s three ballrooms

can accommodate events of any size from 10 to 1,400 in attendance. As one of the

Central Florida Bridal Showcase April 21st Lake Eva Banquet Hall Experience this unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with wedding vendors and professionals to one-stop shop for every facet of your wedding all in one location. Everything from photographers, jewelers, florists, caters, wedding planners, DJ’s, limousine service and so much more! Haines City Relay for Life April 26th - 27th Lake Eva Park Various Haines City businesses and organizations come together to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast May 2nd: 7:30am Lake Eva Banquet Hall Join us for the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast held in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer. The event will take place at the Lake Eva Banquet Hall. Tickets are $10.00 per person.

Reverse Raffle May 4th: 6:30pm Lake Eva Banquet Hall Come check out Haines City’s 17th Annual Reverse Raffle at the Lake Eva Banquet Hall. Tickets are $30.00 per person and include a catered steak dinner, numerous cash giveaways, door prizes and silent auction items. Enjoy an evening of live music and cocktails in a Casino Night setting.

Dive-In Theater Second Friday of the month: July and August Lake Eva Aquatic Center The Lake Eva Aquatic Center features Movies at the Pool on the second Friday of each month during the summer. Admission is $3 per person and concessions are open for your enjoyment.

Movies in the Park First Friday of every month: September-May; First and Third Friday of every month: June-August Lake Eva Park Band shell Come on down to Lake Eva Park and experience a Movies in the Park on our Great Lawn. Movies are always Family Friendly and food vendors are on site each month for refreshments. Pack up the blankets and chairs and come on down to enjoy the fun! Admission is FREE!

Little Miss Sweetheart Pageant February 9th: 7:00pm Bethune Auditorium Little Miss Sweetheart contestants must range from ages 5-10. There will be two categories (5-7 and 8-10) each contestant will be judged based on talent, casual wear, and church wear. For more information, contact Bethune Neighborhood Center at 863-421-3720.

Ribs on the Ridge: February 22nd & 23rd Lake Eva Park Come and compete or just EAT at this annual BBQ competition sanctioned by the Florida Barbeque Association. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to professional teams. Trophies will be awarded to Backyard teams. The competitions are open to everyone. The Kid’s Q Competition is for children ages 6-10 and 11-15. Live entertainment from local bands will take the stage as you shop at the craft and food vendor booths. All proceeds will benefit the July 4th celebration, Thunder on the Ridge!

Arts in the Park March 16th Railroad Park, Downtown Haines City Haines City’s hometown Arts & Crafts Festival at Lake Eva Park. Come check out the great Arts & Crafts vendors, children’s activities, sidewalk art, and entertainment throughout the day. There is something for everyone!

Easter Egg Hunt March 30th: 10:00am sharp! Larry Parrish Youth Baseball Complex The fields will be bright with color as there will be more than 12,000 eggs for the children to find. Each egg will be stuffed with candy and some with golden eggs to receive a special treat. Prizes include bikes, games, toys an more! Kids will also have a chance to get their faces paint-ed and meet the Easter Bunny – in person! Grab your baskets, gather up the kids, and hop on down!

Ironman 70.3 Florida & IronKids May 18th-19th Lake Eva Park Athletes from all over the world will come out to Lake Eva Park for the Ironman 70.3 Florida triathlon on Sunday, May 19, 2013. This event in-cludes a 1.2-mile fresh water lake swim in Lake Eva, a 56-mile bike course through rural Polk County, and a 13.1-mile run course around Lake Eva. For information on how to register to compete in the Ironman70.3 triathlon or to volunteer, please visit www.ironmanhainescity.com.

The IronKids Florida race will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Kids ranging in age from 6-15 will take on a shortened version of the Ironman 70.3 Florida race course. For more information about the IronKids race, please visit www.ironkids.com.

Thunder on the Ridge Spectacular July 4th Lake Eva Park and Band Shell Come check out our annual July 4th celebration where there will be children’s activities, arts & crafts, food vendors, and entertainment throughout the day from local artists. The final performance will be from a national recording artist. For the finale, we give you the best fireworks display in all of Polk County! Don’t miss this event!

Back2School Bash August 10th: Noon – 2pm Cook Field Kids will not want to miss this! Before the summer comes to an end and school begins, visit with us at the Oakland Gym for a time of fun, games, contests, prizes, and free school supplies.

Stride for Fitness Marathon & Wellness Expo October 12th: 7:30am

Lake Eva Banquet Hall We invite all serious and recreational runners to participate in our Annual 5K Run/Walk here in Haines City. The Run will start and finish at the Lake Eva Banquet Hall. Enjoy the scenic run around Lake Eva here in Haines City. Afterward, step inside the Banquet Hall for our Wellness Expo and talk with local medical offices and fitness facilities. Some testing will be available on site. This event is free so come on out and join the strive to live healthy!

Haines City Fall Festival October 26th: 10:00am – 2:00pm Railroad Park, Downtown Haines City Enjoy the crisp, cool season with us at the City’s 24th Annual Fall Festival. It’s fun for the entire family! Activities for the day will include homemade crafts and goodies, children’s games, face painting, trick-or-treating, a children’s costume contest, an adult pie-eating contest and much more! Entertainment is provided by local schools and area artists.

Haines City Christmas Parade December 7th: 10:00am Downtown Haines City Everyone loves a parade! Lined up head to toe, the parade is over one mile long as tens of thousands line the city streets hoping to catch candy and beads as they enjoy festive holiday floats and music.

Glitter, Glisten, and Snow December 13th: 5:00 – 9:00pm Railroad Park, Downtown Haines City Watch as Railroad Park transforms into a magical Christmas Wonderland! Stop in and sip on complimentary hot cider and roasted chestnuts while entertainers fill the air with holiday music. Bring the kids so they can enjoy frolicking in the snow area and watch as snowfall covers the park. Santa will also be there all evening for pictures with the little ones. This event is sure to be a fun family night out with plenty of games, food, music and more! The season only comes around once a year so come out and share the magic with us!

Sharing Christmas with You December 14th: 8:00am Lake Eva Park The Haines City Parks and Recreation department sponsors this event to help give children in the Haines City area a great Christmas. If you have not had the pleasure of joining us for this endeavor, please make it a point to do so. Surely it will do your heart a world of good. Breakfast with Santa: December 14th : 9:00 – 11:00am Lake Eva Park Banquet Hall

Come out and enjoy a morning of breakfast & pictures with Santa. All ages welcome and tickets are $5.00 per person.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade & Unity Festival

January 11th: 10:00am Cook Field The Haines City Northeast Revitalization Group invites you to come celebrate the life and endeavors of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The parade will kick off at 10:00am from Lily Ave. Immediately following the parade, join us on Cook Field for a time of fellowship and fun at the Unity Festival. There will be food vendors, motivational speakers, entertainment, and games for the kids.

Taste of Haines City January 30th: 5:00pm – 7:00pm Lake Eva Banquet Hall

Prepare your taste buds for a feast! We will host some of the area’s finest restaurants each bringing samples of their most popular entrees to enjoy. Tickets will also include complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks and water. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the annual July 4th celebration, Thunder on the Ridge! Tickets: $25.00 per person, children 5 and under eat free!

Boxing for Life

Boxing for Life is core training and weight-loss for every fitness level. This is a

hardcore lifetime wellness program designed to help you to REALLY lose weight and learn to keep it off for life!

Aerobics & Toning

A challenging low-to-medium impact

workout aerobics class working all parts of the body to reduce body fat, increase cardio fitness, and shape and tone muscles. Designed for beginners and intermediates. Join anytime.

Zumba Toning

This class combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance

fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.

A fun and energetic way to tone the waist, burn calories, and relieve stress. Zumba fuses

Table Tennis

Open play table tennis in the multi-purpose room. Bring a partner or meet other people that share your interest.

Practical Personal Protection & Concealed Carry Weapons Certification Course

Practical Personal Protection is a 3 hour class for anyone that is concerned for the personal security of themselves and their

loved ones. Join us as we learn new options for personal security the whole family may adopt and practice together! The

course includes: The philosophy and responsibility of personal security—The psychology of personal self defense—Mastering the Art of Avoidance, Deterrence and De-escalation—Using “Honest Signaling” to communicate effectively

with “Unknown Contacts”—Self Defense: The privilege and the laws that govern it. Practical self defense techniques for

adults as well as teens.

Concealed Carry Weapons Certification is an additional 1 hour training class held at a range off-site and specifically for

students from the Practical Personal Protection class that will be applying for their CCW. Everything you’ll need to apply

for your CCW is provided—Courses facilitated by High Point Personal Security Training, LLC. All ages welcome, although you must be 21 to apply for your CCW.

Please bring your registration fee and your driver’s license when signing up.

Music Lessons

Beginner and advanced lessons in Guitar, Electric/Acoustic, Drums/Percussion, Bass Guitar, & Piano lessons. Individual and group lessons available. Call Tim at 863-559-8586 to set up a time.

Recreation Dance Classes for Kids

Our Nautilus Workout Facility features 17 different Nautilus machines, Schwinn Airdyne and recumbent stationary bikes, a Paramount elliptical, sit-up benches, treadmills, rowing machine, and a Matrix Workout machine. You can work out at your own pace and even use the gymnasium for walking, running, basketball, and volleyball during open gym hours. Fees are based on daily, monthly, or quarterly rates. Quarterly rates cover three month periods:

January-March April-June July-September October-December

Members must be at least 18 (16 year olds may register, but MUST have a parent’s signature). All participants must sign a liability waiver to use the equipment.

Miss Haines City Softball (Ages 5-16):

Miss Haines City Softball provides a supervised program of competitive softball for girls in Haines City and surrounding communities. Registration begins in January. For more information, please contact 863-662-7836 or send an email to [email protected].

Youth Football: Football is considered one of the most demanding and rewarding of all youth league sports. Youth football helps to shape participants’ relationship building skills and personal values. Haines City is the proud home to two youth football leagues: Haines City Rattlers and the North East Rattlers. Coaches Wanted! Make a difference in the life of a child and volunteer to coach. The Haines City Youth Sports Leagues could not operate without volunteer coaches! The coaching program is designed to develop good players who have a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents. All volunteers are required to pass a background check. If you are interested please come to the Haines City Community Center to fill out the paperwork…Come be a part of our TEAM!

Youth Volleyball (Girls in grades 5-8) Participants will learn individual and team volleyball skills while practicing character development and values. Good sportsmanship is the key. This is a great stepping stone leading to high school volleyball. Registration runs July 1 - August 12, 2013 or until full.

Youth Indoor Soccer (Boys and Girls ages 4-12)Indoor soccer is structured to provide every child the opportunity to participate in the world’s most popular sport. This is a fast paced sport that emphasizes learning and having FUN! Young soccer enthusiast will experience soccer in a safe and non-competitive environment. Registration runs April 1 - May 13, 2013, or until full.

Youth Basketball (Boys and Girls ages 5-13)

Youth Basketball is the largest athletic activity offered by the Haines City Parks & Recreation Department. Youth Basketball leagues introduce basic basketball skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting. Major emphasis is placed on personal values, team spirit, fair play, and sportsmanship. Competition is low-key with emphasis on participation. Registration will begin on September 30, 2013.

Haines City Little League Baseball (Ages 4-16):

Haines City Little League Baseball’s primary objective is to implant firmly in the youth of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be decent, healthy and trustworthy adults. Bring your friends and teammates for a night of friendly adult competition. Haines City Leisure Services offers two leagues: Monday Night Competitive and Friday Night Recreational. Adult Volleyball runs twice a year, in the spring and fall. Registration is by team only. Individual player’s are welcome to fill out a Free Agent form at the Community Center but are not guaranteed placement on a team. Registration for spring begins January 2, 2013 and registration for fall begins July 1, 2013.

Men’s full court basketball league runs on Thursday evenings at Oakland Gymnasium. Registration is by team only. Individual player’s are welcome to fill out a Free Agent form at the Haines City Community Center but are not guaranteed placement on a team. Max of 6 teams per league. Registration begins January 2, 2012. Ages 18 and older.

Summer Camp Leaders – In – Training:

This program is for teens who wish to volunteer their time with the Haines City Summer Recreation Program

in exchange for community service hours. In order to be considered for one of our L.I.T. positions, you must: be 17

-18 years old, be completing service hours for school or civic group, have two letters of recommendation from

school advisors or civic leaders, and must be able to work 8 weeks during the summer.

Applications will be available starting April 1st at the Haines City Community Center.

Challenger Sports Soccer Camp British Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. NCA Cheer Camp National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Camp curriculum is based on core principles that ensure cheerleaders learn the proper safety technique and develop a strong foundation. Boys & Girls Baseball Camp This camp will provide the ideal environment to improve athletic skills, develop friendships, and learn life lessons in leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. This camp focuses on the primary skills of hitting and fielding. Further emphasis is placed on proper technique and sportsmanship.

1) NO denim shorts or pants & NO shorts with buttons or zippers.

Proper swim wear required.

2) NO coolers or outside food or drink will be permitted.

There is a concession stand on-site.

3) NO diapers allowed in pools.

Children that wear diapers MUST wear a swim diaper

ex. Huggies Little Swimmers. These may be purchased at the pool office for $3.00.

4) NO flotation devices.

This includes: water wings, inflatable floats and life vests, and life vests with clips or

buckles. ONLY life vests with zippers are allowed.
