PREMET

PREMET software offers several diagrams to

analyse combustion and pressure changes in

the cylinders. By using the cursor it is possible

to move along any curve and to receive the

exact measured values shown in the table. A

series of measurements is comparable to any

other series of measurements without any

restrictions. The PREMET software includes acompression program to send data files per

e-mail or satellite fast and effectively.

NEW! The PREMET indicators now have even

higher resolution and feature an optional

vibration diagram. In order to measure

vibration an ACL-sensor (acceleration sensor

measuring the transfer of energy within and

through a conductor) is needed.

A vibration diagram displaying valve opening,

combustion and valve closing is providedto ease identifying of malfunctions. Some

common problems like broken piston rings,

liners or valves can easily be indicated.

LEMAG PREMET online for the main engine

The picture shows the torsionalvibration pattern of the crankshaftduring 720 (two complete revolu-tions).

The limits to measure torsionalvibration change can be individu-ally defined in the software.

The system warns automaticallyif the vibration change exceedsthe given limits.

PREMET Multiscan Sensor Wheel

The MS-Sensor measures crankshaft rotation in 1 steps. The informationis further analysed by the software of the engine sampling unit.The advantage to tooth profile resolution on the flywheel is more directrecording of engine angular velocities.

Expenditure on installation is minimised by manufacturing the MS-SensorWheel according to the shafts diameter. Drilling of the flywheel or shaftfor installation is not necessary.

PREMET online

The information gathered from the pressure sensors is collected by the PREMET engine samplingunit to be further analysed by PREMET online software. This software gives you a wide variety ofdiagrams delivering important and accurate information relating to the engines performance.

By using PREMET online you are now in a position to recognise the most common problems ondiesel and gas engines before they cause major break downs, expensive repairs or time schedule

delays. After a brief look at the PC screen you are in most cases able to tell immediately why theengine, or some of its cylinders, are not producing the expected power.

INDICATOR VALVES

Indicator valves for al l engine indicators and peak pressure indicators

Correct and reliable connection of the indicator

to the engine is a basic requirement for accurate

measurement. This can only be achieved by

using the right indicator valves between the

engine and the indicator.

The indicator valves are available with two-part

spring loaded spindles or alternatively withservo-operated spindles. Both types are

equipped with a back seat. The valve can be

opened and closed in all temperatures without

using brute force.

The spring loading of the indicator valve spindle

cone prevents any unwanted opening of the

valve, even by unfavorable vibration frequencies.

Therefore a counter nut on the spindle is not

necessary.

Indicator valve with a connection to the measuring indicator

straight at the top of the valve. Several different threads are

available for the engine connection e.g. 3/4 Wh, M20 * 1,5,

M20 * 2, M20 * 2,5, etc.

The valve has a small turning radius and is therefore

suitable for use in the most restricted installation spaces.

The valve opens against engine pressure and closes with

A safe solution for peak pressure measurements

LEMAG PEAK mag Indicators measurethe maximal firing pressure of internalcombustion engines.

The measurement:The indicator valve should be blownthrough briefly before starting themeasurement to make sure there areno residues.

Connect the indicator on the

appropriate cylinder and open theassociated indicator valve.

The maximum pressure can now beread on the gauge. After measure-ment close the indicator valve.

The indicator has to be vented usingthe vent screw fitted before the nextmeasurement.

Please, note that the measuringperiod should never exceed30 seconds per cylinder. In normal

practice a peak pressure is indicatedafter 5 seconds measuring time.

LEMAG

A safe solution for pressure drop measurement

The LEMAG DELTA-PREMET is designed to

measure cylinder pressure drop to highlight worn

valves and piston rings at a very early stage. This

is achieved by measuring the individual pressure

drop of each cylinder. It is a simple, convenient

check and can prevent major damage to the

engine.

NOTE: The instrument is for use on engines that

are not running.

How to measure: Stop the engine and open all

indicator cocks. Turn the engine into firing TDC-

position and connect the DELTA-PREMET to the

relevant cylinder. Make sure to lock the engine in

this position. Inject compressed air through the

DELTA-PREMET into the cylinder up to 6 bar

(max.). Close the ball valve on the instrument and

measure the time taken for the pressure to fall to

1 bar (using the stop watch included). Repeat

these steps for the next cylinder. In the case of an

unexpected pressure drop turn the engine by 720

to release the residues from the valve seats.

Please ensure that the DELTA-PREMET is not sub-

jected to more that 9 bar during the measurement.

The Instrument is equipped with a high quality

stainless steel safety pressure gauge. In case of an

over pressure due to incorrect handling the

instrument includes a replaceable bursting disc to

protect the user and the instrument.

For safety reasons it is recommended that any

replacement of a disc be undertaken by Lehmann& Michels GmbH & Co. KG.

LEMAG Thermometer

The LEMAG handheld non-contact thermometer is a

compact, rugged and easy-to-use device for all

temperature measurements on hot, hazardous or hard to

reach objects.

Simply aim, pull the trigger and read the temperature in

less than a second. To help aiming the instrument is

equipped with laser sighting. The laser light shows you

the area where the measurement will be made.

How it Works

Infrared thermometers measure

the surface temperature of
