“A L I V E A N D A C T I V E ”The Year of Saint Matthew

Trinity Sunday11.06.17.

(Sunday Readings: of year A : Breviary: Week ii)

THIS SUNDAY’S MASSScripture: Exodus 34: 4 – 6, 8 – 9.

Daniel 3: 52 -56R: To you glory and praise for evermore.

You are blest. Lord God of our fathers. To you glory and praise for evermore,

You are blest in the temple of your glory. To you glory and praise for evermore.

You are blest on the throne of your kingdom. To you glory and praise for evermore

You are blest who gaze into the depths. To you glory and praise for evermore.

You are blest in the firmament of heaven. To you glory and praise for evermore.

2 Corinthians 13: 11 – 13. John 3: 16 – 18.

Intercession : Lord hear us.Response : Lord, graciously hear us.

On his first visit to a girl’s house, a guy waited in the living room while she prepared a snack in the kitchen. Left alone, he noticed a small, attractive vase on the mantelpiece. He picked it up and was looking at it when the girl walked back in.‘What’s this?’ he asked.‘Oh, my father’s ashes are in there,’ she said‘Oh my God! I’m so sorry….’‘Yeah, he’s too lazy to go to the kitchen and get an ashtray.’

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A woman rang up a pet shop and asked for three hundred cockroaches. The shop owner said: ‘If you don’t mind me asking, what on earth do you want three hundred cockroaches for?’The woman replied: ‘Well, I’m moving house today, and my lease says I must leave the place in the same condition I found it.’

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When a priest was pulled over for speeding, the police officer noticed an empty wine bottle in his car and could smell alcohol on his breath.‘Father, have you been drinking?’ asked the officer.‘Only water, my son,’ replied the priest.‘Then why can I smell wine?’The priest looked at the wine bottle and exclaimed: ‘Oh my Lord! He’s gone and done it again!.

I love a good mystery especially when it’s one written by Agatha Christie. - Miss. Jane Marple or Hercule Poirot. Sometimes I just sit there not comprehending who did what, to whom. I suppose that’s what a mystery is all about.

Today we are given by the Church another mystery to fathom out, the Feast of the Trinity. It was a Father O’Brien in Rome who gave me a very good mark for an essay I had given in on the Trinity. Some of my previous work did not come up to scratch, but this one with the help of a CTS booklet written by Sister Benedict passed muster – Thank you Sister may God reward you!

Simply put - God the Father sent us Jesus with a message of Hope. Following the path of Jesus, will take us on a journey which will eventually bring us home to His Father’s House……...’, “There are many rooms in my Father’s House”.

Last week we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is this Spirit who gives us the courage to follow in the footsteps of Christ. Living out the message sent to us by the Father, through the Son needs the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

“The Father and I are one – to have seen me is to have seen the Father”

“I am going back to the Father but will send you the Holy Spirit”

Sometimes it is easier to live the message of hope and love rather than trying to explain this great mystery.

The Trinity

Trinity Sunday is a moveable feast celebrated a week after Pentecost Sunday.  Also known as Holy Trinity Sunday, Trinity Sunday honours the most fundamental of Christian beliefs—belief in the Holy Trinity.

The human mind can never fully understand the mystery of the Trinity, but we can sum it up in the following formula: God is three Persons in one Nature. There is only one God, and the three Persons of God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—are all equally God, and They cannot be divided.

Let us Pray [to our God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit]God, we praise you: Father all-powerful,  Christ Lord and Saviour, Spirit of Love.  You reveal yourself in the depths of our being, drawing us to share in your life and your love.  One God, three Persons, be near to the people formed in your image, close to the world your love brings to life.  We ask you this, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, true and living, forever and ever. Amen.

Our Congratulations and best wishes

for their future happiness, go to

Rachel Shier and Lewis Thomas who will be married in

Saint Mary’s Church this Saturday.

THANK YOU As the sun beams down on our church and grounds, it is an absolute pleasure to stand for a while to admire our church grounds, the beautiful flower beds, the manicured lawn, the pruned trees, the attention to detail is remarkable. Twelve months ago we asked for plants, shrubs, trees and what a transformation we have this year. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of some parishioners who donated the plants etc and our gratitude must be extended to the team who are the creators and custodians, who work tirelessly to ensure that our grounds look wonderful. THANK YOU ADRIANO, PADRAIG AND JOHN FROM ALL THE PARISHIONERS, your hard work is greatly appreciated and much admired.“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work”.
