The first published chapter newsletter was called the “Diliman Krokis”; “krokis” meaning freehand drawing. The newsletter was printed on

mimeographed sheets containing technical papers from research work done by its members, as well as articles about architecture and

news bits from the UAP National. In 1994, the chapter renamed its official newsletter to “Liwanagan sa Diliman”.

The Quezon City-Diliman Chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines (also known as UAP Diliman) was officially founded on July 14, 1979 under the leadership of its first president Aurelio T. Juguilon, during the term of UAP National President Felipe Mendoza. Its charter members are mostly faculty members and graduates of the U.P. Diliman College of Architecture as well as architects from the former Campus Planning, Development and Maintenance Office (CPDMO) of the University of the Philippines - Diliman. The chapter is a member of UAP Regional District A4.

Our theme for this year aptly describes what our UAP Diliman Chapter is, what it was, and what it will always be.

On our 36th year anniversary, we celebrate the glorious legacy that continues to inspire us and we share an unbounded optimism for our continued impact and relevance in shaping and enriching the lives of countless people, across all societal and professional borders, through our passion for architecture.

I am proud and grateful for being a member of our Chapter and I can say that it has provided me countless opportunities to grow through service. It has been and continues to be a big part of my life, professionally and personally.

It will be another year of service, a year of growth and a year of fulfilment. Of course, it will be a year of fun!
