One of the items on the agenda was the phased re-opening of churches and other places of worship. As you can imagine, there are a wide variety of challenges facing the different faiths and how they congregate. I want to share with you the issues that we shall face. There was an indication that the First Minister will address the phased re-opening of churches in his next statement in two weeks time. The first phase of such a re-opening would be based on the traffic light system. The lights will be at red! This means controlled entry of individuals for private prayer, subject to the Health and Safety regulations being in place. My reading of the situation is this might happen in mid-July. I apologise for being so tentative, but this is my perception rather than a statement of fact.” Archbishop George Stack. Full details can be viewed on the Parish Website. A NOTE FROM FR. MARK: Following receipt of a Mini Ad Clerum from Archbishop George and the H&S Toolbox checklist received from Chris Jones outlining the measures and equipment needed to be in place IF our church is to be re-opened, it is evident there are numerous things needed to be implemented before we will be allowed to open for private prayer. We will not receive the official signed document to re-open until the risk assessments are completed and the approved measures are in place; it is simply not opening the doors once again. On receiving approval it is likely the church will be open for a limited number of hours with a limited number of people. With this in mind, I am looking for volunteers willing to supervise and implement the strict hygiene rules; volunteers MUST BE BELOW THE AGE OF 70 with NO underlying health issues. If you are able to assist, please either provide your details by email to the Parish Office or log-on to the following website: https://opendoors.church/ N.B. (CTS 10 MINUTE DIARY)

THE MOST HOLY TRINITY READ: JOHN 3:16-18 MEDITATE Why do the innocent suffer evil? Does God care? Yes, very much so! We do not see how much God’s heart is wounded! But how much evil is caused or not prevented because of our wickedness! God has intervened! He sent his Son to save us.

LET US PRAY

Lord Jesus, as I gaze upon your image, crucified for my sins, I ask you to strengthen in me the graces of faith, hope and charity.

Give me the gift of true repentance and the desire to serve you in those who are neglected and suffer most of all. Amen

ACT Think of those who are in need. Decide on a way to show them the compassionate face of Christ. Those who suffer need our time. It is one of the most valuable things we have to offer.

THE HOLY FATHER’S INTENTION FOR JUNE: We pray that those who suffer may find their way in life, allowing themselves to be touched by the Heart of Jesus. THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (Confession) I am happy to be able to provide this Sacrament once again and abide by the guidelines set out by the First Minister for Wales. Please contact me by telephone to arrange a suitable time for us to meet by Our Lady’s Grotto in Llantwit Major for confession to take place. Please be assured that the strict 2m rule for social-distancing will be adhered to. Stay safe! God Bless. Fr. Mark

Please pray for the following who request your prayers: Tom McNally, Yvonne Harris, Maria Morgan, Elizabeth, Marianne Davey, Ray Cullinane,

Joan Whitton, Ian Beverley, Gretta Cooper, Thea Boyd, Maisie Moyes, Dick Barnicott,

Nick McKenna, Nicole Price, Simon Stanton, Sue Stanton, Shirley Garmston, Anne Hogg,

Ann Francis, Roseina Bruen. MAY THEY BE TOUCHED BY GOD’S HEALING HAND.

‘We are invited to contemplate, so to speak, the Heart of God, his deepest reality which is his being One in the Trinity, a supreme and profound communion of love and life. The whole of Sacred Scripture speaks to us of him. Indeed, it is he who speaks to us of himself in the Scriptures and reveals himself as Creator of the universe and Lord of history.’

(Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI Sunday Missal on the feast of The Most Holy Trinity)

From Fr. Mark….. “Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end”. We begin our Summer 'Ordinary Time' by celebrating a feast, not of a particular saint or event, but of the awesome paradoxes of our God, the Three-in-One, Father, Son and Spirit: so immeasurably distant, yet so amazingly close, so full of power and so full of love. In the Book of Exodus, God revealed Himself to Moses as ‘ I am who I am!’ and Priests often say it is much easier to give a sermon on God as ‘mystery’ than it is to actually talk about Him - this goes for me too! Our human vocabulary is so limited but love is the key to the mystery: the revelation of God. It is incredible to think that, although we had gone astray, ’God loved the world so much that he gave His only Son’ and despite His sheer ‘magnitude’ He loves us so deeply He gave us Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, to reveal His perfect love and unity. The great theologian, St. Thomas Aquinas spent his entire life coming forth with various doctrines about God and proofs of his existence, but at the end of his life he said that all of this knowledge was ‘mere straw’ and also the philosopher St. Augustine of Hippo said ‘God, when comprehended is NOT God’ God simply ‘IS!’ He has always existed and will always exist ‘living outside of time and in time’. In the story of Creation in Genesis, God made man and woman 'in the image and likeness of God', to live together as a community of love. So too, the Church is an image of this perfection of community which is Father, Son and Spirit. We, as many members of one Church, strive in our everyday lives to imitate God who is Three and One, perfect unity and perfect love. So let us celebrate our belief in God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit and our part we play in His divine life, in doing so we thank God for the gift of His Son and for His continuous care for us and those we love.
