NEWS FROM THE ROAD LIBERTY MINISTRIES CELEBRATING OVER 19 YEARS OF MINISTRY the official newsletter of LIBERTY MINISTRIES MARCH APRIL 2015 YOU PROVIDE SUSTAINABILITY TO THE MINISTRY For the past few years, we have been talking up the annual or lifetime membership with Liberty Ministries. We are so thankful for those partners who have come alongside of the ministry to offer some financial stability for current needs as well as the future of Liberty Quartet. The annual memberships ($100) or the lifetime memberships ($1,000) have been a big help. Let me share two times that we had to go into "membership investments." BUS REPAIRS: The bus Liberty travels on is not a luxury; it is a necessity. I always tell people it would be like trying to operate a home without a refrigerator. The bus travels thousands of miles in some rather difficult country (Pacific Northwest and Canada) which would put stress on any type of equipment. Many of you will recall some major mechanical attention that was needed at the end of 2013. Thank heavens, the funds were available for this large expenditure in the membership investment account. Over the next few months, we were able to replenish the account with offerings from concerts and faithful monthly support from donors. But the membership investment account allowed us to pay the entire mechanic bill. PROJECTS: In 2014, we completed two new CDs. Many of you would not know that, in the past, projects have often been funded through the personal resources of Royce and Tammy Mitchell. In examining this procedure, the board felt it was not fair to the Mitchells and that it should be the responsibility of the ministry to pay for projects. Since the fund had been restored during 2014 and new Lifetime and Annual Members were added, the two new projects this past year were funded through the ministry investment account - again a wonderful resource to keep the ministry moving forward. Each year we see new names added to the membership rolls for Liberty Ministries. Each year we pick up a few more Lifetime Members. (You can view a current list of Annual and Lifetime Members on page 11 of this newsletter.) These funds are directly deposited into this special account for the ongoing needs of the ministry. I thought it might be good to let you know of two great examples of how this fund has allowed us to pay some large bills for Liberty. Thanks, and we hope more of you might see the purpose of the membership. Liberty members are not only "card carrying supporters of Liberty Quartet" (I doubt that gets you any discounts anywhere!) and the ministries represented, but more importantly are a stability factor to the future of the ministry. you provide sustainability to the ministryFor the past few years, we have been talking up the annual or lifetime membership with Liberty Ministries. We are so thankful for those partners who have come alongside of the ministry to offer some financial stability for current needs as well as the future of Liberty Quartet. The annual memberships ($100) or the lifetime memberships ($1,000) have been a big help. Let me share two times that we had to go into "membership investments."

BUS REPAIRS: The bus Liberty travels on is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

PROJECTS:In 2014, we completed two new CDs. Many of you would not know that, in the past, projects have often been funded through the personal resources of Royce and Tammy Mitchell. In

examining this procedure, the board felt it was not fair to the Mitchells and that it should be the responsibility of the ministry to pay for projects.

(Youcan view a current list of Annual and Lifetime Members on page 11 of this newsletter.) These funds are directly deposited into this special account for the ongoing needs of the ministry.

ExTREMELY CONFLICTINg STYLES OF MUSIC ARE PLAYED at competing volume levels between the driver and front lounge area. Mind you, this is a distance of about 3 feet. "Twangy Classic Country" just doesn't mix with "Boston Pops Swing."

ARgUMENTS ABOUT SPORTS AND AThLETES TAkE PLACE almost daily. We all know that Muhammad Ali told us that he was "The greatest." however, in his 61 boxing bouts, he never met up with the likes of Chuck Norris!

WE ENJOY WATChINg ThE COOkINg ChANNEL, BUT NOT during our drive on US Route 50 in Nevada. This stretch is known as "the loneliest highway in the US" because of its large desolate areas with few or no signs of civilization. There isn't a Burger king in sight!!

WE SOMETIMES gET DRESSED WhILE ThE BUS IS IN MOTION. All videos of this difficult procedure have been destroyed and will not be submitted to America's Funniest Videos. No Skyping or FaceTiming is allowed during these performances.

WE DO hAVE TO CLEAN ThE BUS. But quartet members have been known to watch an episode of "hoarders" and realize that the bus is not all that dirty. So if you see the bus on a rare occasion and it's clean, it simply means the boys aren't up yet.

SOME OF US LIkE TO WATCh TV ShOWS DEALINg WITh hOSPITALS AND SURgERIES. I keep waiting for the surgeon to say, "Oops" or, "hand me that, uhh, that, uhh, thingy." I'd be more inclined to watch it then.

WhEN WE hAVE TO CATCh UP WITh OUR FAMILIES BY PhONE, we try not to be at the wheel while doing so. The worst scenario that has happened is talking to the wife while driving down I-5 and she says, "Be careful, there is a vehicle going the wrong direction on I-5." And you respond by saying, "It's not one vehicle, it's several!"

ThE gPS! The little voice inside this contraption has its own personality. In fact, I'm convinced it's our wives' voices disguised! There is no telling where we are headed. She has taken us to pig farms, boat docks, and alternate gravel roads better suited for ATVs. We are constantly "recalculating." We are excitedly awaiting the new NkIS coming out in 2016, which is the Navigation kitchen Instruction System.

WE hAVE TROUBLE DODgINg ThE RUMBLE STRIPS. If we ever come across the machine that feels it's necessary to ruin perfectly smooth pavement, we will have some sort of healing session and be on our way. One interstate has rumble strips on the outside lines AND the middle lines! I guess the purpose is to ensure the driver does not veer off course or fall asleep at the wheel, but let me assure you, if we are asleep, it's because we want to be asleep!

AND ThE MOST INTERESTINg IRRITATION ON ThE BUS... MIRRORS. From the first day of purchasing the bus (circa 2002), we affectionately named it, "The Miracle Bus" because of the many people contributing and the answer to our prayers. But shortly after the purchase, we noticed all the mirrors: side, rear view, kitchen, bathroom, closet, lounge door, lounge closet, ceiling, and even the engine compartment. What this does is magnify and duplicate most of the top 10 irritations listed above. In fact, if you catch a combination of mirrors, the irritations are multiplied! But, the blessings are also multiplied. Maybe this vehicle with which you and god have supplied us should be called, "The Mirrorcle Bus!"

"Sing to god, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord."Psalms 68:32

As early as Exodus 15:1, singing is mentioned with giving praise and glory to god. "Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted...the Lord is my strength and my song..."

In I Chronicles 15:16, David told the leaders to appoint their brothers and sisters to sing joyful songs. Later, it's mentioned in the dedication of the temple in 2 Chronicles 7:6, "king David had instruments made for praising the Lord."

In the title verse given from Psalm 68, it is part of a passage referring to the procession into the sanctuary led by singers. The power of singing praises to god opens prison doors and loosens chains, which is written about in Acts 16:25-26. There are also many references to singing in Revelation and in heaven.

Eph 5:19b-20 says, "Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to god the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Folks, this is not only for Liberty or students of music. This is for everyone. Sing and make music! In every reference it is to give praise and glory to the Lord. Make it a part of your daily life.

PRAISE gOD PRAYER REQUESTS

’Southwest Gospel Festival in Phoenix, AZ was an incredible blessing and a much-needed event of fellowship and music. Mark your calendars for next February and be there with us!’Never before have we heard so many encouraging words from folks about our music and ministry. The recordings are helping folks through life. This is fulfilling, and it is why we exist as a ministry.’Jeanne Jorgensen, our booking agent, has put together a tremendous tour schedule so far for 2015. The many hours of work have provided fruitful results.’We are also receiving many positive comments on the current quartet's blend, talent, and most importantly, Spirit. To god be the glory!’The new recordings, Old Time gospel Songs 2 and A Christmas of hope, are being well received. Sing to the Lord!!!

’Please pray for our children and families. Pray that each will follow the Lord and serve him.’We are in the middle of picking songs for our next recordings. We need god to reveal to us the songs needed and those which need to be heard. The ultimate mission is for new believers to be added to the fold.’We are fast approaching a staff change in October, as Jeanne nears retirement. This is a crucial position to our success. We cannot emphasize enough the need for prayer here.’We are hopeful that all 14 previous and current members of Liberty will be available for the 20th Anniversary celebration at Northwest gospelFest in Meridian, ID in October. All the logistics and plans for a worshipful and successful event are vast. Please pray.’Pray for god's anointing on not only the places and people we sing to, but for freedom in his Spirit for song selection and specific testimonies needed at any given moment.’Many miles are being covered right now. Pray that we will not miss any concerts and pray that our bus will be reliable.’Pray for god's strength and peace for the Batton family, as Susie's mother passed away in mid-February.’Pray that everyone reading this publication will receive all that god has offered to those who believe. Remember, Romans 10:13 says, "Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Northwest gospelFest 2015 will be the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Liberty Quartet! The event will be held at Valley Shepherd Nazarene Church in Meridian, ID on October 9 & 10, 2015. More details will follow, but the plan is to have concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, a special Saturday morning brunch, a Saturday afternoon showcase, and the annual meeting of Liberty Ministries on Saturday afternoon.

The Liberty Ministries Board is working hard to make this an event that you will not want to miss! Plans are being made to bring back every Liberty Quartet member from throughout these amazing 20 years. It is sure to be an unforgettable reunion at which you, the faithful followers, will have the opportunity to watch, hear, and catch up with your favorite past and present Liberty Quartet members!

It will be a wonderful time of reflection and celebration as we count back through the 20 years of Liberty Quartet. We know you will want to plan to be present at this milestone event.
