CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS FOR MASS Effective immediately, the Diocese of Rockville Centre has issued the following directives for ALL MASSES: 1. The Blood of Christ in the Chalice will not be distributed to the people in the congregation or Ministers on the Altar. 2. The Sign of Peace before Communion will not be exchanged by anyone, including the Priest celebrating Mass. 3. All Ordinary and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will sanitize their hands both before and after the distribution of the Body of Christ. As a Church, we take these precautions not out of fear or panic. We do this to create a more safe and healthy environment for the sacred celebration of the Eucharist. Thank you for your cooperation in these temporary restrictions. May God bless our Parish family.

Second Week of Lent Corpus Christi Church March 8, 2020

Dear Friends: As we journey through this Lenten season, the Lord Jesus calls us to devote ourselves to prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Our Catholic Ministries Appeal offers us a practical way to respond to this Gospel call by making the mercy and love of Jesus manifest to all those in need. During Lent, we are challenged to put into practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. These works are the heart of the annual Appeal. As Pope Francis tells us “Prayer brings us back to the path of truth about ourselves and about God; fasting makes us share the reality of so many people who face the anguish of hunger and makes us pay more attention to our neighbor; charity is a blessed occasion to collaborate with God's providence in benefit of His children.” Your generosity has enabled us to provide caring homes for people with disabilities, affordable housing to our low income seniors, and services to help people recover from addiction. We have supported married and family life; celebrated the sacramental life of the Church; ministered to those in prison; brought the healing power of Christ to those suffering from illness; spread the Gospel through efforts of evangelization, education and formation. These are just a few of the ways your contributions transform lives and spread dramatic missionary growth. Today I invite you to join me in making a gift to this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal, so that, as One Family In Mission, we can continue to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of others. My prayers and best wishes to you and your family this Holy Season of Lent. Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend John O. Barres Bishop of Rockville Centre

Lenten Nail Meditation

This Lenten devotion is intended to revive the ancient Christian practice of meditation to help us think, ponder, reflect, consider and pray about the meaning of the sufferings and death of Christ for YOU. Some people tie a string around their finger to remind them of something. This Lent we will be giving out Lenten nails. This Lenten nail we hope will serve that purpose for YOU, a frequent reminder to you to mediate daily on the crucifixion of Christ and its personal meaning for YOU. This Lent carry this nail with you wherever you go whether in your pocket or your purse. The nail you carry is YOUR nail, but it is also Christ's nail. Use this Lenten nail as a reminder of sins effect and the loving forgiving mercy of God. These nails will be available this weekend in the vestibule of the church.
